Oh wow that looks delicious @1questionshootout!!

My mushroom stroganoff was disappointing to be honest - was only 250 cals though so I've had two babybels and some raspberries to fill me up.

Came in at 737 cals for today Halo might have an options hot choc later as a treat.

Cantteach · 10/09/2020 20:39

Patriarchy I'm the same. Great loss at first then really slowed and I was trying to stay motivated and treat it as a blip. I'm in my 5th week and it's dropping off again, 5.4lbs in last week.

I had an Atkins brownie today, probably shouldn't have as loaded with sweeteners but it was actually pretty good and I'd have another. Generally not getting sweet cravings anymore but today I couldn't shift it.

TantricTwist · 10/09/2020 22:01

I had a mini crunchie bit from a Heroes tub today which definitely did hit the spot then nicked a couple of potato wedges when they came out of the oven for the DC to have with their chicken whilst I had roasted cabbage and cauliflower in miso with mine. They acquiesced to one floret and point blank refused the cabbage in favour of sweetcorn.

Solongsugar · 10/09/2020 23:05

Dp wants to loose couple pounds but doesn't have the time/ interest to read books to get started. As I'm nearly 6 weeks from beginning of my journey I'm wandering whether to encourage him on the milkshakes. Has anyone used this as a kickstart?

Solongsugar · 10/09/2020 23:07

*Sorry, stones not pounds !

1questionshootout · 11/09/2020 06:35

I'm not a fan of shakes. They are too much like "here, have a magic potion", when actually, eating real food is much nicer and a more sustainable habit. Do they cook for themselves, would a few weeks menu plans be helpful?

AlgonquinBay · 11/09/2020 07:44

I've used shakes occasionally as part of my 800 calories and have found them quite useful to grab on the go when I don't have time to prepare anything or if I don't have anything low-carb to hand.

They are surprisingly filling for the calories and keep you going.

I wouldn't have them every day as a meal replacement though, as I quite like eating actual food, but I guess it's about your husband finding what works for him.

Good luck! Smile

nibdedibble · 11/09/2020 09:04

I dreamt about eating crisps last night 😱😂

I’m actually amazed that I’ve had no crisps, not even sneaked one, since July. Nor sweets nor desserts. Flippin great. Though my subconscious has decided to torture me, clearly.

What’s everyone planning for meals into the weekend? I’m finally going to make cauliflower rice and there will be teriyaki salmon for sure.

(Oh god I’ve got pre-menstrual food cravings!)

TantricTwist · 11/09/2020 09:43

Oh god yes crisps @nibdedibble oh how I miss them.

This weekend I'm making goulash which I'll have on either cauliflower rice or mash swede. And roast chicken with veggies the carcass of which will go into the slow cooker to make stock, a bit of which I like to add to my roasted veggies during the week, stope them drying out and the liquid makes a lovely rich soup.

TantricTwist · 11/09/2020 09:45

I'm also going to make a bolognaise sauce to stuff into red peppers and for DC to have on pasta and / or rice

aceofbase1 · 11/09/2020 10:16

Soooo I was struggling to shift anymore weight this week scales were just saying the same.

I also had a urine infection and antibiotics and felt really shitty. Thursday night I had a headache, nausea, dizziness, I think it was the antibiotics - so I ate some chocolate and biscuits Blush but I'm not too bothered. I'm having a rest until Sunday. I'm not going bad and I'm still TRE but I am having some carbs. Hoping I can get back to it properly on Sunday plus I need to do a food shop. I am feeling better now so I'm wondering if trying to fight an infection plus ketosis wasn't a good combination?!

What I am loving is that my mindset is not that this is for life and I can have breaks and days off plan and still re-join and carry on. Previously with diets I would think I'd ruined it all with a day off and never go back to it.

TantricTwist · 11/09/2020 10:34

@aceofbase1 I hope you're feeling better now than you were and drink plenty of water.

nibdedibble · 11/09/2020 11:20

@aceofbase1 Feeling grotty is no fun. I’ve had a cold and definitely been ‘hungrier’ and batting off food thoughts is far harder when you’re down for whatever reason. I wondered if bodies need fairly instant carbs for fighting infections, or if they’re perfectly efficient at using non-carb sources from the body for energy. I don’t know the answer!

@TantricTwist all of that sounds amazing quite frankly. Roll on 12 and my fast-breaking boiled egg 😂

carbhunter · 11/09/2020 11:23

UTI's suck - sorry to hear that aceofbase1

Good outlook though, there is nothing inherently wrong with having some biscuits when you feel the need. Getting back on the waggon can be tough, but you can do it!

Miloarmadillo2 · 12/09/2020 08:17

@tantric My husband is a recently diagnosed T2 diabetic so the low carb WOE is going to have to be longterm for us. He's been having about 1000 calories a day and I'm probably having a bit more. My maintenance calories are about 14-15k if I don't account for exercise. I was a healthy BMI to start with but I'm more in the middle of healthy now, not top end, and I'd like to get my body fat down a bit more. Interestingly I am pretty much staying the same weight now 57-58kg but my fat percentage is v-e-r-y slowly dropping. I'm in no danger of fading away as bottom end BMI for my height is 7.5 stone.

nibdedibble · 12/09/2020 09:32

I just weighed myself (I’m a daily weigher) and I seem to have lost nearly 3lbs overnight. The previous day it was 1.5lbs overnight. I’ve got 2 sets of scales, they’re agreeing. What’s going on? I circled the same 3lbs for bloody ages then whompf, weight off. I’m not complaining though!

Purpleraindeer · 12/09/2020 10:00

I’d be pleased with that loss nibdibble. Sounds like it was a whoosh where after being static for a few days it all drops overnight. Something to do with water in fat cells I think. Confused

Milo I’m in the same sort of weight category as you and trying to do the same. No idea what my body fat % is but there is definitely less of it than before I started!

I have been exercising whilst dieting as normal but mostly weights and hiit. Did a run this am and found it so hard running without breakfast. My legs were jelly. I know people do this all the time so I guess you get used to it but it was tough.

Spicy lamb shoulder with cauliflower and paneer from the dopamine diet cookbook this weekend. Am having a little break from cal counting as I have some social stuff this weekend but am going to maintain the fasting and low carb. From what some of you have said re the impact of a cheat meal I’m bracing myself for weigh in on Monday!

nibdedibble · 12/09/2020 10:15

@Purpleraindeer Just spent a pleasant 10 mins reading about the whoosh effect. I am honestly really pleased! This week it’s 4.5lbs off after a period of up-down-up-again. I’m just half a stone away from not being technically obese now and I’m well chuffed!

Spinningdot · 12/09/2020 13:18

Hi, does anyone use electrolyte drinks to help with thirst / dry mouth? When I eat (relatively) 'normally', even salty foods, I don't experience excessive thirst - only when fasting. It's 'orrible! I know it must be down to an electrolyte imbalance so I've been looking at drinks/powders/tablets but do any of you use any that are compatible with this eating plan & that actually work? I've considered making my own but I would probably use honey as well as salts & I'm trying to avoid sugars so as not to break my fast/trigger insulin release. Btw, I also can't stand artificial sweeteners! Confused
Any recommendations?

AlgonquinBay · 12/09/2020 13:39

Well done on the loss @nibdedibble 4.5lbs is great!!

AlgonquinBay · 12/09/2020 13:41

@Spinningdot I use the High Five Zero tablets sometimes when I get a fasting headache but they probably have sweetener in so might not work for you.

MysweetAudrina · 12/09/2020 18:56

Hi everyone, I just started 800 today. Was hoping some of the more seasoned posters could critique the meals I had today.

2pm lunch: Italian ham, mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, rocket, 1 cal spray, conference pear.

Total kcal according to fitbit 201

6.30pm Dinner: salmon fillet. 3*baby potatoes, stir fried in olive oil, tender stem broccoli, mushrooms, pepper and red onion.

Total: 430 kcal

7pm snack: Tea with milk, 2*squares of 70% Aldi dark chocolate.

104cal

Daily total : 735

Macros: 40:40:53 g cup

Thanks

1questionshootout · 12/09/2020 22:13

Hi Audrina, welcome aboard!

Well done on finding a menu within 800 calories, to reduce your carbs a bit more, lose the potatoes, and keep chocolate to an occasional treat. But great protein choices!

MysweetAudrina · 13/09/2020 07:38

Thanks for the welcome and the steer. So the potatoes and the chocolate came to about 170kcal yesterday, should I eat more protein or a mix of protein and veg to bring my kcals up?

Woke up with a lovely headache this morning, probably my Coke Zero habit making a stand. Have a yoga class at 9 ( online) so looking forward to that.

CurseryKinkajoo · 13/09/2020 09:05

Morning all, end of week 3 here. Down to 15stone 9 and waist of 36” from a start point of 16stone 9 and 39” waist.

So 1 stone off and 3” Grin

This has been the trickiest week in that I plateaued which felt frustrating when I have stuck to plan apart from an 18th birthday party on Friday night. I’m sticking with it though as there’s still another 3 stone to go...
