Hi everyone, I'm rejoining after a two week break which included an all inclusive holiday and lots of wine . Went away with great intentions but saw myself slipping into my old habits as the week progressed. I felt great before we went away and even wore a bikini by the pool . Now I feel fat and bloated after all the indulgence. I'm ready to draw a line under it and get back on my weight loss journey again. I'm worried it'll be harder to restart as complacencies and boredom usually kicks in for me the second and third time around but hopefully I'll see good losses to motivate me. Weighing first thing to see what the damage is then onwards and downwards we go .

Summer15coming · 31/08/2020 22:23

Hi everyone - hope it's ok to join!

I'm new to Fast 800, having done only 8 days so far, but have done 5:2 on and off in the past. So far it's going well, with a 5lb loss in the first week. I will have lots of questions for all you more experienced Fast 800'ers though. I have the Fast 800 recipe book (great book - delicious meals!) but not the actual diet book, so feel there is some gaps in my knowledge.

Purpleraindeer · 01/09/2020 06:50

Just weighed myself this am. I am 1kg down on yesterday! Clearly that’s all water but it is motivating. Smile

Hi collywobble - I’m back from hols too. I always find that it’s easier to get back into a diet than it is to start one in the first place so hopefully getting back on the diet wagon won’t be as bad as you think

Jollyholibobs · 01/09/2020 07:25

Morning all. Resisted the cake yesterday. Finished the day at 659 cals. Felt like I had loads. Not sure if I am just getting used to this WOE and not feeling too hungry or if I forgot to record something on mfp!

Anyway scales this morning say same as yesterday. I am week 3 and weight loss seems to be levelling off. I am day 19 is a levelling off to be expected at this point?
Would be interested to know what others are losing week on week who have been doing this for a long time.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/09/2020 07:37

Purple well done on day 1 that's fab! With the light headed thing it could be to do with electrolytes so might need to have a punch of sea salt in water or something?

Welcome summer!

Collywobble there was a post from a woman on Facebook who had lost an amazing amount and this was on attempt 6 - was good to know it can still work and something click beyond the first try.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/09/2020 07:42

Morning all. I had a few days break to enjoy the last of the hols and my child's birthday but now I'm back and ready to smash that last stone. 💪🏻

Back to work today which will get my NEET up and I've meal planned decent meals for the next few weeks.

I don't plan on weighing until next Weds now - I want a good few days on plan without the chance of getting disheartened.

Good Luck for September everyone!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/09/2020 07:49

Jolly it is normal to have a week or 2 stay the same at week 3/4 then loss usually picks up again but not as much as weeks 1 and 2. I consistently averaged out at about 2-3lbs pw after week 2 when I did this before.

Cantteach · 01/09/2020 08:18

Thanks for that poppy it makes me feel better as I'm in same boat as jolly. Have completed 3 weeks now and weight loss has really slowed down. I had a big lunch yesterday (cauliflower tabbeuleh that didn't taste of cauliflower! with some Quorn and falafels) so had a lighter dinner. I resisted DH suggestion of wine and while DC had pudding I had raspberries and kept to 800 cals yet this morning I've put on 0.6lb.

My head says that fluctuations are normal and that I can't not lose weight if I'm only consuming 800 calories a day but it was still disheartening. Trying to focus on having lost 11lb in 3 weeks which is still good.

collywobble · 01/09/2020 09:52

@Cantteach that's a brilliant loss in three weeks . My losses are very slow and up and down so I'd be over the moon with that .
I've done the dreaded weigh in this morning and although I've gained 3 pounds in two weeks I feel quite relieved . My food principles remained the same if not higher calorie but my wine intake went up so I was expecting more .
Back on it today with children back at school and a busy working day from home I have no excuses .

Belindabelle · 01/09/2020 10:42

Well I had a brilliant first week (lost 9) and then a good start to week 2 (lost 2 more) but let’s not mention the last few days!

Never mind, today is the the first of a new month and it is my favourite month of the year so I am feeling motivated. If I have an excellent 6 days I should still be able to get a stone off by my week 3 weigh in next Monday.

@Cantteach the scales are a fickle friend. I love and hate them in equal measure. Logically I know in order to put on a pound of fat I need to eat 3500 cals OVER my TDEE which is around 2000 cals. So 5.5k calories in total. I know when the scales jump up a bit overnight it’s just water and not real weight gain but it does annoy the hell out of me. However when I get a whoosh and lose overnight I totally believe they are telling me the truth and I love it.

Oysterbabe · 01/09/2020 12:23

I've been off track all weekend. Bloody Bank Holiday 😂
Back on it now.

Cantteach · 01/09/2020 12:48

Can't remember who wanted a good bread recipe but this is what we used. I think it's as close to bread as you'll get and more importantly, doesn't taste of egg. The rolls come out of the oven like bullets but soften as they cool. Calories seem roughly the same as bread though so still need to be a rare treat.

50g psyllium husk
150g ground almonds
2 TSP baking powder
Salt
225ml boiling water
3 egg whites
2tsp cider vinegar

Mix dry ingredients. Add egg and vinegar. Add boiling water, gently mix, then let stand for a couple of minutes. Make into 6 rolls. Sprinkle with some sesame seeds if you want to. Cook at 175° for 50-60 minutes. DH was very impressed.

aceofbase1 · 01/09/2020 12:52

Can anyone recommend some decent scales?

The ones I have say a different figure by me just weighing myself, getting off and weighing myself again they can chance by 3/4lb which is so annoying as I cant see the real loss.

The ones I have are salter digital and I've changed the batteries and everything

Summer15coming · 01/09/2020 13:29

Thank you, Yumyumpoppycat!

It's lovely to read all of your stories and progress and to feel that I'm not alone in this.

To this pp who was asking, I also have unreliable Salter scales. The first time I step on I get a reading a pound or two heavier than the reality, then the second time I step on seems to get 'locked in'. No matter how I step on them after that, weight not fully on, weight fully on etc, the weight stays the same to the 0.25 degree. I also have Korona ones, which seem much higher tech and more accurate.

Oysterbabe · 01/09/2020 13:48

I have the Renpho Bluetooth ones. They always give me a consistent result.

TantricTwist · 01/09/2020 16:23

Hello to all the newbies

I Managed to stay under 800 cals yesterday but carbs around 65% as DD made very buttery cookies which were too good to just have the one.
They give me a bit of a tummy ache later on and my stomach feels a bit swollen today considering all I've had today is yogurt and berries and mushrooms, spinach and pork.
I'll probably have left over chicken and swede later depending on how I feel.

Good luck everyone keeping on track even we do stumble occasionally.

Cantteach · 02/09/2020 07:14

DC asked for a BBQ yesterday. I couldn't say no, summer has not been great for them. I had couple of sausages and a burger (all veggie), some halloumi, loads of salad and some pickled onions. I didn't touch any bread or potato stuff. Everyone had chocolate ice cream, which I actually don't like, so I was happy with my raspberries and half a bottle of wine Blush. Have just weighed myself and I'm exactly the same as yesterday so very happy with that. I feel like I'll be able to maintain when I finally get to my desired weight but getting there is going to take a long time. Still motivated to do it though which is amazing, I never usually make to past day 3!

badasscafe1 · 02/09/2020 08:03

So Plan was to start tomorrow when kids back to school but DH woke up saying let’s start today.....so here we go- am excited and nervous... but today we start! Off for some hot water with ginger and lemon

Oysterbabe · 02/09/2020 09:05

Good luck badass !

I was a bit afraid to peek at the scales after 3 days off track over the weekend but I did and they are looking great! I can't believe it. Still 2 more days before my official weekly weigh in. I'm going to get back in the 10s and I'm so excited :)

Jollyholibobs · 02/09/2020 12:45

Good luck @badasscafe1
Well done Oyster. You’re nearly in the 10s!

It’s great to be able to enjoy a BBQ with family @Cantteach. This WOE is so flexible for that. So good to not be feeling deprived.

Scales still staying the same today. Scrupulously following 800 cals a day. Just sticking with it and expecting a sudden dip. Smile. Feeling great on it so that is the benefit to focus on as the health benefits are the big thing here.

carbhunter · 02/09/2020 14:33

Hi all, just wanted to join and say hi.

I've been on the fast 800 for 8 days now and this is the second time i have done it. The first time i lost 7lbs and gave up at around the 5 week mark as it got too hard.

I am back after putting all the weight back on (and more) very much determined to make to work this time. I have about 2 stone to lose and i found that the peer support of you lot really helped last time.

carbhunter · 02/09/2020 14:35

Also - my name is carbhunter and i am a carbaholic (in case the name didn't give it away) Blush

Oysterbabe · 02/09/2020 14:52

Welcome carbhunter
Carbs are the best. In my wildest fantasies I live on chip or crisp sandwiches and remain thin and healthy Grin

RR369 · 02/09/2020 19:10

Hi @Jollyholibobs I don't know how long you've been doing this. I'm starting back but had great success with loss and maintenance in the past and keeping everything crossed I can do it again!! I found that variety was key when the scales stalled so changing my eating window, varying the exercise and activity levels and even mixing up my calories so it was an average of 800 per day but some days under and some days over iyswim. I think it sort of keeps your body on its toes or something?? Great that you're feeling so well anyway though 😊
I'd love to hear anyone's tips please

carbhunter · 02/09/2020 19:52

Thanks Oysterbabe a cheese and onion crisp sandwich on buttered white bread is a food of the gods, but unfortunately now verboten Sad.

I need to make peace with the fact that I just can't eat all my favourites carbs without it making me fat and unhealthy so I need to find new favourite foods to take their place.

I know it's better for me in the long run, but I reserve the right to grieve for chips and fresh bread sandwiches...
