After my 'low-carb' wrap omlette the other day I have been searching the internet for alternatives and found cauliflower wraps. Roughly half cauliflower blitzed in food processor, add garlic powder, pepper and 4 eggs, blitz again. Fry in teeny bit of oil. You can't make big ones, they fall apart but you can make ones the size of the normal mini wraps you can buy. I like them. They only have a slight egg taste and means you get more food from 2 eggs.

We're 2 weeks in so dh has suggested we celebrate with pizza. I've had a bad day and very tempted to say yes but have meals in freezer from last week so having one of those. However, I really want a proper sweet snack, not pulverized dates but trying to stay on the wagon so torn! What are everyone's thoughts on Atkins bars? I've never had one but wondering if it's something I should think about?

Oysterbabe · 25/08/2020 18:46

Nothing like calorie counting to make you realise why you are fat 🙈 Bought our usual sausages for dinner and was surprised to see they are 200 calories EACH. I'd normally have 3 with a pile of buttery mash. I had 2 with some broccoli and carrots.

CurseryKinkajoo · 25/08/2020 20:52

Posting for accountability!
Weighed and measured on Sunday - 16stone 9lb and waist 39”. BMI 33.3

Reading the Fast800 book and using the BSD recipe book/meal plan and aiming for 21 days at 800 calories.

W1D1 (Monday). Stuck to plan, but very hangry in the evening, managed to keep the TRE window as 11.30am-6.30pm. Drank 3l water.

W1D2 (today) - TRE 11.45am-8.15pm mainly due to work. Again on plan, even refused the nicest fruit cake ever while at a client’s (polishes halo). Hungry now (20:50) but suspect I need a glass of water. Loved the BSD red Thai curry with cauli rice and the smoked mackerel pate recipes today.

aceofbase1 · 26/08/2020 08:53

@CurseryKinkajoo you're doing great!! Thai dish sounds lovely!

I need advice. I was losing everyday until Saturday when I caved and had carbs and ice cream. I got straight back on track Sunday and been doing lots of walking and TRE. I haven't lost anything since Friday Sad I know that's only a few days but the scales were moving downwards everyday until then.

Wondering if this means that I'm unable to have a night off as it will set me back so much Sad

Oysterbabe · 26/08/2020 13:14

I've been having the same thoughts Aceofbase
I stayed at my inlaws at the weekend and had 3 carby meals cooked by MIL. Overall I ate A LOT less than I would have done before. I declined all biscuits, had a smallish portion of food etc. The scales are not looking good at all and it's pretty depressing.
However it's important to look at trends rather than daily figures. I'm determined to give this my best shot for 8 weeks, recording my weight once per week, and see where we are.

Oysterbabe · 26/08/2020 13:17

I had prawns, spinach and cashew nuts for lunch. Prawns are amazing, you get so many for your calories. I had to double check the packaging as it seemed like too many.

aceofbase1 · 26/08/2020 14:03

@Oysterbabe you're right. I'm only on day 9 so if I keep this up for the next 10 weeks I'm bound to be losing weight even with the odd night off as long as I get straight back on it. Maybe I'll stop weighing myself everyday too and try and resist to once a week (not sure whether I'd succeed tho haha)

aceofbase1 · 26/08/2020 14:04

@Oysterbabe that lunch sounds lovely!
I haven't had a prawn dish yet I'll have to try one.

TantricTwist · 26/08/2020 14:13

So yesterday I became very sad and distraught about something and chose to just not eat as opposed to knocking back a bottle of wine and comfort eating with whatever came to hand as per usual. So my total cals came to 500. I still haven't eaten today just tea and coffee. I don't feel hungry. I wonder if this WOE somehow kept me slightly more grounded as my brain gently kicked in holding me back from my usual comforts. Instead I listened to online books to try and take my mind of things.

aceofbase1 · 26/08/2020 15:30

Sorry you're sad @TantricTwist but it certainly sounds like you're on track - hope you feel better soon Sad

So the scales might not be moving for me but It looks like I'm definitely in ketosis!! Grin

*itsmymess", with MyFitnessPal, you can scan bar codes. And it will remember items you have used previously.
Once the app has a list of your regular foods, then it's just a question of weighing stuff with your kitchen scales and logging it.

When I unpack grocery, I do a scan of new items, items that I have not used before. And just put a negligible amount, like 0.01 gm and that way it's there in the list, handy when I need to log it for a meal at a later date.

I know, it sounds convoluted, but, once you start doing it, it doesn't feel like that any more.

TantricTwist · 26/08/2020 17:13

I've now eaten stir fry pork and left over roasted veggies from the other night, delicious.

If I'm hungry later I'll eat some aubergine parmigiana and I'll be within my 800.
I find my tummy rumbles about half an hour or so after I've eaten but then settles down after 15mins ish and then I'm fine and not hungry.
Clothes fit better and I saw myself full length in a mirror whilst in specsavers earlier and I didn't recoil in horror. I feel like I'm now at a respectable chubby size that I can feel comfortable with.

aceofbase1 · 26/08/2020 18:02

How long have you been doing this @TantricTwist ?

I know we're not technically supposed to have sweeteners but I have been allowing myself some of this maple syrup substitute on my Greek yogurt with a few strawberries after my evening meal. It's so delicious and I really can't tell it's sweetner . It's really helping me get through the day with that to look forward to (I was a sugarholic before)

Does anyone think it will affect my weight loss?

Not long @aceofbase1 2 and a bit weeks but I've been very strict with a couple of mini wobbles.

I started when the weather was boiling hot and I couldn't fit into any decent summer clothes I had so I thought sod it I'm going to feel hot and dizzy anyway so might as well do it now.
I try to focus on the positive side of it all and ignore the negatives, I find it easier that way to move forward and progress.

1questionshootout · 26/08/2020 20:34

Tantric well done on resistig the wine. DH is away tonight, which would usually have me pouring a large glass of Chardonnay, but tonight it's a seedlip and diet tonic.

I made a mess jackfruit curry tonight, with scrumptious coconut lime caulirice. And I now have beetroot choc brownies in the oven (from the Fast 800 book, honest!) which I might have to quality control later watching celebrity gogglebox

Oysterbabe · 26/08/2020 22:47

Has anyone made lentil Wraps?
I might give them a bash tomorrow.

1questionshootout · 27/08/2020 06:32

Oooh, be interesting to see how those turn out!

I’ve made besan (gram) flour wraps from the BSD book, which are ok, and also some coconut flour ones, currently in my freezer.

Cantteach · 27/08/2020 07:25

Lentil wraps look interesting but mfp says they work out at 15g carbs each and a normal wrap is 17g so not much of a saving unfortunately. We seem to be doing ok in week 3 but as I need to start making packed lunches again soon I am wondering what we'll have without bread, pasta etc.

Well done tantric for looking after yourself. We all know comfort bingeing doesn't help and actually makes things worse but we still do it. You should be proud of yourself for sticking with new habits. I hope you are feeling better about whatever was upsetting you now.

Cantteach · 27/08/2020 08:00

Coconut wraps look good though. I'm going to give those a go Smile

I was hungry last night for the first time so had a small apple and a small pear and today I've lost zero. Obviously this WOE works brilliantly as long as you stick to it exactly. Still I have until Tuesday to lose 2.4lbs if I'm going to manage a stone in 21 days. I still think it can be done!

Jollyholibobs · 27/08/2020 08:19

Day 14 here and despite a small rise on the scales today I have lost 8.2lbs so far and am looking forward to breaking into the stone below hopefully by the weekend.

As great as the weight loss is the way I feel is equally motivating to keep on with this WOE. After a pretty grim week 1 I now feel energetic, clear headed and positive. Have managed TRE for the last couple of days as well.

I am however experiencing dizziness when I stand up. Have any of you experienced this and does anybody have any tips?

Also very interested in gram flour wraps. I’ve been pondering gram flours credentials for this WOE.

Patchworksack · 27/08/2020 08:21

My DH repeated his blood tests after 8 weeks on low, carb healthy fats diet and has hot his Diabetes into remission

Patchworksack · 27/08/2020 08:25

Sorry, posted too soon! Diabetes into remission, HbA1C reduced by 20 units, triglycerides from high into optimal range, total cholesterol down to just above optimal, LDL:HDL optimal, weight 11kg lower and BMI into normal range, and his testosterone (which was in his boots) has increased. Happy days Wink

Jollyholibobs · 27/08/2020 08:27

Such good news @Patchworksack. You and your DH must be so pleased.

Patchworksack · 27/08/2020 08:38

Thrilled to bits. We knew the blood glucose was much better as he has been finger-prick monitoring at home, but was a bit worried what the high fat content would do to his cholesterol and triglycerides. It's amazing how quickly this diet has turned things round really. He has 4kg to lose to get to target, then we need to work out how maintenance might look.

aceofbase1 · 27/08/2020 08:59

@Patchworksack that's fantastic!!!

My scales have finally moved today after a 5 days stall! So I've been doing this WOE for 10 days and I did have one night off on Saturday. I've lost 6lbs which I'm really happy with considering I did have a day off. I need to be able to work this around my life and I now feel positive that I can cheat now and again and it still work.

I have increased my exercise massively and I'm walking every day twice a day and enjoying it!

I get married next year and I want to be back at my goal so I have time and can allow myself the occasional day off as long as I get straight back to it.

So I started at 12 stone 10, I want to be 9 stone 10 at my goal. I'm wondering whether that might even be achievable by Xmas?! Grin
