Week 4 weigh in and 2lb off, making a total loss of 16lb.
Am doing a lot of exercise at the mo (for me at least), so am tired today. Early night in order.

Keep going!

darrenlacey · 24/08/2020 19:34

Is there much hope for a vegetarian who doesn't like eggs trying this diet? It seems like it's all eggs meat and fish 😭

Belindabelle · 24/08/2020 20:56

@darrenlacey I think the main part of this diet in keeping the cals below 800 with healthy Mediterranean style food. So lentils, nuts and other grains do feature in the recipes. Most of us seem to be going for a double whammy of 800 cals and low carb, hence the eggs meat and fish.

Belindabelle · 24/08/2020 21:14

@aceofbase1 you can buy packets of frozen cauli rice that you heat up in the microwave or quickly stir fry with herbs and spices. You get broccoli versions too. Handy to have on standby and cheaper than the pre prepared fresh stuff. I usually make my own but sometimes can’t be bothered if it’s just one portion for me and the rest of the family are having the real stuff.

TantricTwist · 24/08/2020 21:25

I woke up feeling a bit tired and head achey today so I had Greek yogurt and berries for Breakfast as there was no cooking involved.
And for Lunch I had a chicken leg roasted on a bed of white cabbage with quarter of a red pepper as they have lots of Vit C and A. I worked out a quarter was enough for the nutrients so I'll be having a quarter red pepper every day from now on. My DS ate a huge Pizza of which I had one small bite.
And for Dinner I had stir fry asian flavoured pork with broccoli, everyone else had theirs with rice.

I have 68 calories left over so if I get a bit peckish I can have something small.
I've noticed that my boobs have shrunk a bit and my scapula is more prominent which I'm more than happy with actually as my shirts always pop open.

TantricTwist · 24/08/2020 21:28

I think I'm going to have to look into cauli rice as having my pork with no accompaniment was a bit weird so thanks for the frozen tip @Belindabelle

Actually people do mash dont they from different veg. What are peoples favourite veg mash that's easy and tasty.

TantricTwist · 24/08/2020 21:31

Tesco has sold out of fresh and frozen cauliflower the last 2 times I've looked online.

Booklover89 · 24/08/2020 21:56

Just finished Day 4 - the absolutely mad hunger of Days 2-3 has subsided a bit but I was very tired trying to work today. Ended up going up to 900-1000ish calories by adding a few slices of mozzarella to my courgetti dinner but hopefully still low carb and I just felt I needed a bit more.

Breakfast: Greek yoghurt and raspberries (150 calories)
Lunch: Chickpea and spinach curry (350 calories)
Dinner: Spinach and basil pesto courgetti with a few extra slices of mozzarella (about 400 calories)

Finding it tough going so far but motivated by the need to lose at least a stone of fat!

Jollyholibobs · 25/08/2020 07:31

Day 12 weighed in at 8lbs loss so far this morning. Also had my first day TRE yesterday which worked well for me just skipped breakfast.

DH has joined me although he’s doing 5:2.
Fast800 Portobello pizza last night which went down well with DH too.

@Booklover89 I felt pretty bad last week. Weak/ dizzy etc but persevered as the weight loss was promising. I feel great this week so if you can press on through a few days you may find it’s worth it.

Patchworksack · 25/08/2020 07:55

I like celeriac mash, or swede and carrot, or sweet potato.

itsmymess · 25/08/2020 08:38

Hi, I love reading your successes.
I'm managing ok-ish. No problem skipping breakfast so I'm going approx 8pm-noon at the moment. I have a black coffee c.9am

What I am actually finding most difficult is all the different measuring. How do I work out carb intake etc. For example 3 new potatoes - what is this carb wise in a low carb approach?

outwest · 25/08/2020 09:05

For example 3 new potatoes - what is this carb wise in a low carb approach?

Weigh potatoes before putting them on plate. Look up something like "Tesco potatoes" on MyFitnessPal. Entry in MFP says "Tesco New Potatoes 100g, 74 kcal" and if add that to diary it says "16g carbs". Removes need to guess.

Cantteach · 25/08/2020 09:21

0.6lb off overnight, so need to lose 3.4lb this week to make it a stone in 3 weeks. I'm feeling optimistic Smile I did this weeks food shop yesterday so we're all prepared for another week. Don't think I ate enough yesterday though as I've woken up hungry for the first time, may be a slog to get to noon!

Simpatico · 25/08/2020 10:01

I think cauliflower is a godsend for this way of eating. Going to have cauliflower cheese from the BSD book today - think I might actually like this better than full carb bechamel version.

CurseryKinkajoo · 25/08/2020 12:04

Has anyone found that MFP really doesn’t like them aiming for 800 calories? I keep getting snitty messages about not eating enough!!

Belindabelle · 25/08/2020 12:57

I actually can't believe this but I have lost another 2 lbs. That makes 11lbs in 8 days. Just shows how bloated and carb I must have been.

I had a Waitrose delivery yesterday and have stocked up on new spices to add some oomph to my meals. its definitely starting to feel like soup and stew season is coming.
I also got some frozen pre cut celeriac. I love celeriac but I do find it a bit of a faff to cut and peel. It usually goes all soft and slimy before I get the chance to use it up. You just boil it up for 5 mins, then it should be easy to make celeriac mash. I imagine I will be able to roast it too, though it doesn't say that on the pack.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/08/2020 13:05

Oh I'd love pre diced celeriac. I love it, but it's such a faff!!!

Booklover89 · 25/08/2020 13:32

Day 5 weigh in this morning and I’m 64.4kg, down from 67kg on Saturday! It must be water but I’m impressed by the change.

Also woke up with an unmistakable metallic taste in my mouth and urine strip confirms that I’m in moderate Keto. Beginning a bit better, less gnawing hunger and more clear headed so hoping I’m emerging from the Keto flu stage.

Really excited to start seeing some fat loss over the next few weeks!

TantricTwist · 25/08/2020 14:02

@Patchworksack Oh yes good old swede, yes I love that. I thought we weren't meant to have root vegetables but as it's half the carbs of potatoes I'm all for it.

There are no cauliflowers still for me to buy and I'm not a huge fan of celeriac but love carrots so happy to mash them up or roast them.

TantricTwist · 25/08/2020 14:09

Thanks everyone for your favourite recommendations of veggie mash much appreciated.

I'll give the celeriac a go at some point and fingers crossed I can get hold of a cauliflower at soon with my online shop.

birdling · 25/08/2020 15:38

I've just started bsd. I'm on day 3 and I'm soooo hungry. Please tell me this stops and it gets easier. 😭

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/08/2020 15:52

@birdling - if you follow the principles and don't cheat, within a week you stop feeling any hunger at all most of the time. It's so weird.

1questionshootout · 25/08/2020 17:13

I'd avoid potatoes altogether, but then I'm not a big fan.

On MFP, you dont have to "close diary" at the end of the day - your entries are still there, and you wont get any automated messages.

Belindabelle · 25/08/2020 17:47

@birdling hang in there. Lots of water, tea, coffee. Brush your teeth, go for a walk, have a bath, tidy a cupboard. I reckon by Thursday/Friday you will feel a lot better. I have you weighed yourself?

birdling · 25/08/2020 17:50

@Belindabelle No I'm too scared! I know i should, but I figured that I'll lose weight whether I measure it or not. I'm going to go by whether my clothes feel less tight Grin
