@Numbersarefun yup I've got a long way to go but I'm already 4.8kg or 10.5lbs down in 11 days. I'm on steroids for health issues so I know it's not going to be all plain sailing but I'm hoping I can keep my steroid munchies to a minimum!

mamahibou · 24/08/2020 00:09

Hullo! I've been lurking for a while but thought I would finally join in. DH & I began this WOE a month ago and so far I have lost 10lbs and he has lost 17. That's despite a couple of off days eating out & at other people's houses with much less control of what we can eat.

Generally been trying to also do 16:8 which has been really helpful. Since my first child was born I got into a terrible habit of snacking once kids in bed. Now we don't snacks after dinner and I try just to have black coffee for breakfast and fast til lunch.

I have definitely noticed a difference in my resting heart rate since starting this WOE, it's gone down by about 10! I am 40 and seeing this go down is even more motivating than losing the weight.

I'm in the overweight category, BMI of 26 so need to lose another 10lbs or so to be comfortably under 25. Going to try to keep it to around 800 for another 8 weeks and then see where we are at.

I log foods on Fitbit, try to get around 1000 steps in a day and try to do some Barre Blend or HIIT a couple of times a week. Find it hard to fit in on work days.

We struggle to be completely low carb but try to reduce them as far as possible at least one to our two meals a day.

Find resisting temptation fine as long as we don't have anything tempting in house or not stressed. Properly notice reaching for the carbs when too much going on Confused

ThePawtriarchy · 24/08/2020 06:15

Hi everyone, I’m on week three and still dream of binging on chocolate, this is going to sound ridiculous but I feel sad without it! I think it’s because I’m feeling sad anyway but really, I crave the comfort of it. Will this ever go away? I do eat full fat yoghurt with a few berries but it’s not the same.

This sounds pathetic I know!

Maccalenny · 24/08/2020 06:19

Good morning everyone!
I used to post here regularly, from Feb 2019, and it really helped me to stay on track. I just dipped in after a long break to see how everyone is getting on.
@thenewaveragebear1983, I read back on the thread and saw that you are taking some time off the thread after keeping us going with your infinite expertise for so long - hope all is well.
It’s lovely to read how well everyone is doing and that everyone supports each other - it helped me so much.
In case anyone is worrying about maintenance after fast800, I wanted to do a summary of how I have got on.
I started fast800 in Feb 2019, at 16st 8 and having tried all sorts. I’m late 40s and no good exercise habits.
I stuck rigidly to 800 for three months. I didn’t exercise really. After three months, I chose to stop counting at weekends but continued through the week. After five months, I stopped counting and just continued to eat the same way.
I weighed every day and used the happy scale app to monitor progress, and logged food on the nutracheck app. I really recommend both of these.
After 1 year, by about Jan 2020, I’d lost five stone. This brings me into the ‘healthy’ bmi for the first time in 20 years. And I’ve stayed here ever since, with very little effort. My body seems very happy with its new weight and isn’t fighting to regain, which is such a relief. I still eat low carb for the majority of the time, but do not count calories at all. I still monitor my weight closely, and occasionally do a few days 800 if it creeps up at all.
I’m amazed by this way of eating - firstly that I was able to lose the weight easily after 20 years of trying, and secondly that it has been easy to keep it off for the last 7 months. And I have confidence that I can keep it off long term.
If you are just starting, or thinking about starting, or struggling.....please please please just go for it and stick with it. It is life-changing.

Maccalenny · 24/08/2020 06:26

@ ThePawtriarchy, for me the cravings reduced over time, but if I’m stressed or sad or tired I still feel them. But I can rationalise/argue them away now - I know that I will not actually feel better from eating that stuff. I have other things I eat that I consider treats - very dark chocolate works, or a nice dip and carrot sticks, or some low-carb pizza. That way I still feel in control of my carbs, which is the most important part for me.

Cantteach · 24/08/2020 06:50

Thank you Maccalenny that's such an inspiring post and gives me real hope for the future. Congratulations on achieving and maintaining your goal.

I forgot to mention the ice cream I also had during my time away Blush. I did drink several white coffees yesterday, so technically broke fast, but didn't have anything to eat until dinner. Had veg curry, cauliflower rice and 2 poppadoms, followed by strawberries. I've weighed myself today and 0.4lb down since Friday. I'm really happy with this. I had a good break away, didn't go crazy and obviously didn't so too much damage. Back to it properly today Smile

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 24/08/2020 07:02

@Maccalenny - thank you for your post. You have an almost identical start weight, target loss and loss timeframe to me, so it's great to see it can be done, and that maintenance has been such a simple step for you.

Well done, what an inspiration! 😊

outwest · 24/08/2020 07:12

And I’ve stayed here ever since, with very little effort.

@Maccalenny Reassuring and inspiring!

Miffytastic · 24/08/2020 07:48

Maccalenny that’s great to hear thanks for sharing, I am thinking low carb is the way to go in future

Coming on this morning to say - I’m at week 11, with 5 days till go on holiday and I’ve reached the goal I set!

After discussions with people on here about oats and protein (I’m vegan) I switched some things a little - reduced oats by 10g and added in chia seeds and pea protein powder to my breakfast, and moved the time on a bit (having a much smaller lunch on some days). Tbh I was a bit depleted one night and just had to go to bed or else I’d have caved and eaten a load of nuts or something but I’m chuffed! I have reached my original goal! Have lost 16.5lbs since June and 10cm off my waist. Now wondering if can do another 7.5lbs and need to think about exercising more to tone up but I’ll think about that after my hols :-)

Madhatterhouse · 24/08/2020 09:49

12 weeks - done! 21lbs gone.

Start weight 11 stone 8 lbs / 162lbs
End weigh 10 stone 1lbs / 141lbs
BMI has gone from 26.28 to 22.95

week 1 -5.3
week 2 -2.0
week 3 -1.5
week 4 -0.9
week 5 -2.4
week 6 +0.2
week 7 -1.8
week 8 -2.0
week 9 -3.1
week 10 -0.2
week 11 -0.4
week 12 -1.1
total -21

My bigger losses in weeks 7, 8 & 9 I think are down to doing OMAD and scaling my carbs right back (aiming for

Simpatico · 24/08/2020 10:24

Hi! Can I jump on board? I have been soldiering on my own since the beginning of the year and really wish I had found a thread like this earlier. Reading back, it seems very supportive and full of really good information.

DH tactfully gave me the Fast 800 book for Christmas and I started the year at 15 stone on a 5ft 3ins frame. I have lost 60lbs which seems incredible, but it has felt very easy. I am 10lbs off the healthy weight range and not sure how much further I will go.

It is really heartening to see some people maintaining losses over the longer term as regaining is my big fear. I have just thrown out a wardrobe's worth of size 20 clothes that I have been clinging on to.

aceofbase1 · 24/08/2020 10:29

@Simpatico that's amazing congrats!!

I have a question, when you start to do more exercise - well start do some as I never did any before, do you start to build muscle that affects the scales?

Oysterbabe · 24/08/2020 11:26

Madhatterhouse

That's incredible, huge well done.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 24/08/2020 11:31

Congratulation @Madhatterhouse and @Simpatico on your amazing achievements!

Lndnmummy · 24/08/2020 15:05

@Maccalenny that’s amazing!! I’m so proud of you! You probably don’t remember me but I just to post frequently this time last year. You were a huge source of help and inspiration for me! Sadly, I’m back to where I started but I am determined to get going again. I’m sure that this is the way to go. I have 3st to loose.

TantricTwist · 24/08/2020 16:49

Hi @Maccalenny I read a few of your posts before I joined this group and your journey has been a real inspiration and its so reassuring to hear you're maintanining so well.

Congrats @Miffytastic @Madhatterhouse and everyone else on your losses. Again more inspiration to keep on going.

@Simpatico I cant wait to throw away my size 18 clothes which were becoming so tight I was just about to buy some size 20 when I decided to go for this WOE exactly 2 weeks ago and now I can at least squeeze into my more forgiving size 16 clothes.

Every year recently I was having to go up a size in clothing which was just becoming a joke really.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 24/08/2020 17:23

Kitchen is closed on 876kcals.

Lunch was a salad, evening meal was turkey, sweet potato and veg. Had some of the low carb cheese crisp things this afternoon, that's what took me over, but I'm ok with that.

I've also done a aerobics workout, a hiit, and cycled 33km today. 👍🏻

1questionshootout · 24/08/2020 17:24

Some really inspiting stories there, thanks for sharing!
I've just read the Fast 800 book and I have questions.

Full fat dairy. Is semi-skimmed OK for teas?
(That Facebook group is pretty brutal, arent they, I saw one poor soul being ripped to shreds for asking about a low fat yoghurt)

Doing TRE, is having a cup of tea in the morning breaking the window?

I've been cutting out all grains and breads - thoughts on dark rye bread?

Faster800 · 24/08/2020 17:40

Just had my week 5 weigh in, another 2.5 lbs taking me to 15.5 lbs down over all, over the 1st stone mark, 2 to go!

Had a mini break weekend where we stayed pretty good with the odd very small and savoured treat, and one boozy day where I drank about a bottle of prosecco but kept food cals to 800.

My way of getting through is that once I'm in maintenance I can have nice food whenever I want it on any special occasions as long as mundane days stay mundane!

Hoping to be in next stone bracket by next weigh in.

Good luck to all new starters and well done to all the losers!

ThePawtriarchy · 24/08/2020 17:53

@Maccalenny thank you! That’s reassuring. It’s interesting as on other ‘diets’ I would have something sweet but try to keep it not too much (which inevitably failed of course) and I think I know with this one that staying in ketosis is reliant on me not doing that. So it’s simultaneously harder to do but easier to stick to as I don’t want to go backwards. I wish I understood my own brain sometimes though - why can I not consistently do the thing that is best to me. It’s like willpower and discipline are flitting creatures that can only spend a few minutes here and there with me!

ThePawtriarchy · 24/08/2020 17:54

Well done everyone on the losses!

aceofbase1 · 24/08/2020 17:58

I made a cottage pie with cauliflower mash and some mange tout on the side Smile it was absolutely delicious and I'd definitely recommend it! I made enough that I have another 3-4 portions left so that's lunches this week. I made all the mince part together and then had two separate dishes for DH and the kids, their had real mash and mine cauliflower mash!

Has anyone tried caulirice? Wondering what that's like now I've had the mash and was really impressed!

Faster800 · 24/08/2020 18:11

I really like cauli rice with curry or chilli, you can microwave it but I prefer to dry pan fry it and add salt, pepper and maybe tumeric or cumin if it's to go with curry, just roasted cauliflower florets with cumin and garlic are also great as a 'side' , or mushrooms and spinach stir fried with garlic and a bit of curry powder! Mmm I want a curry now!

outwest · 24/08/2020 18:41

Doing TRE, is having a cup of tea in the morning breaking the window?

1question - If it contains milk, would say yes, it breaks your fast. Black, no, as tea like coffee contains negligible cals / carbs.
