Konjac noodles make me sick, sick, sick. Just be warned.

Oysterbabe · 22/08/2020 12:32

I thought maintenance was 5:2 or 6:1 with bigger portions of the same kind of foods on the 5 days.

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 12:37

Maintenance I guess is more 5.2 and there's a separate helpful thread on that so worth checking out.

I think coffee with soy milk is technically breaking fast, sorry to break that to you @aceofbase1

I've just had mushrooms and 2 eggs.

Think I quite fancy chicken and veg this evening. I might try baking chicken legs on a base of cabbage and courgettes with garlic and lemon perhaps

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/08/2020 12:43

Obviously I need to research this. You can tell that I have never reached maintenance myself as the concept of it is so bizarre 🤣

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 12:47

Yes @Oysterbabe that's what I'm never sure about ie what foods to eat on the 5.2, 6.1, 4.3.

Is this where we'd reintroduce carbs like rice, pasta, bread and potatoes in small amounts or is the idea to pretty much stay away from the bad carbs for good

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/08/2020 12:47

In all my research you want to stay away from those foods for good. But now I’m wobbling.
Oysterbabe · 22/08/2020 12:48

I intend to stay away from them most of the time, have them once or twice a week.

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 12:48

Ha yes @justanotherneighinparadise let's hope we even get to that stage - I'm sure we will eventually 🤞

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 12:52

I guess just don't eat them every day like we used to.

My plan -ahem- is to only eat those carbs when I'm out but not at home once I'm maintaining. Although I've told myself I can have rice and potatoes but no pasta or bread at home. Silly really but that's my plan once it comes to it

Love the name BTW :)
I really hope I can do maintenance now... I am such a yo yo dieter and it’s no fun really. I realise this WOE has been good in helping me with sugar issues and I feel like my stomach has reduced a lot. I think someone said it’s about choosing your ‘hard’ - being overweight or not eating what you like all the time... I’m hoping a few things in moderation will be the way forward but maybe the golden syrup I used to dollop on my porridge every morning will be a thing of the past!

Miffytastic · 22/08/2020 13:05

Tantric- sake, I’m thinking brown rice & rye bread but not white rice and pasta

Miffytastic · 22/08/2020 13:05

Same not sake !

Oysterbabe · 22/08/2020 13:07

I found that my portions had just got bigger and bigger and every weekend I was eating like it was Christmas. Not doing that will help. It's actually surprising that I hadn't gained more.

aceofbase1 · 22/08/2020 13:07

@TantricTwist oh no I thought under 50 calories was ok Sad I keep getting this wrong Sad

It's the konjac noodles Ive got, sugar maybe I should try some before I throw them in and ruin the whole dish

1questionshootout · 22/08/2020 13:10

A morning of domestic godessing here.

Bananananana peanut butter frozzies (for the dogs)
garlic croutons (for DH)
Cauli spinach fritatttas (for next week's lunchs)
Courgette crisps (for tonight!)
Roast aubdergine to make baba ganoush

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 13:15

@aceofbase1 I could very well be wrong. Anyway there's nothing wrong with having had your coffee imho. I'm having tea and 2 coffees with a dash of semi skimmed every morning.
I'm sticking to 800 cals a day, logging it on MFP and keeping to BSD food items. If I go over a bit I cut down the next day. Eggs keep me feeling full for longer. I'm skipping breakfast because I always have so that parts easy for me.

TantricTwist · 22/08/2020 13:16

Ooo you have been busy @1questionshootout and it all sounds delicious

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/08/2020 13:20

I think I’m going to get some ketostix and see if tea/coffee with milk in the day gets me out of Ketosis. I don’t think it does so I allow myself these cheats, as to my mind I’m in it for the long haul and life is for living, however if i test and it does negatively affect Ketosis I’ll have another think about it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/08/2020 13:21

Btw I fast around 18 hours daily so I know that’s different to what many people are doing, hence my ‘cheat’ drinks.

outwest · 22/08/2020 13:22

I thought maintenance was 5:2 or 6:1 with bigger portions of the same kind of foods on the 5 days

Would be hard to eat bigger portions of some recipes - usually exhausted after having bowl of chickpea chilli, couldn't possibly eat two!

Flibbertyjibbit · 22/08/2020 19:51

Much better day today, even lost weight since yesterday which was a surprise as we deviated off plan.

L: Halloumi with roasted veg and green salad
D: Ham, Blue Cheese and Pear

Has anyone got a nice curry from scratch recipe they use? Maybe I should make a bulk batch for freezer that we only need to reheat on crazy busy days.

houseRefurb · 22/08/2020 21:42

Hello e"one, Super busy thread..
Lots of interesting discussions.

On the topic of something sweet, I 'd recommend frozen grapes. I read about it on the 5:2 thread a long time back.
Just 2-3 frozen grapes, not defrosted .
It works almost like "eat the raisin mindfully" on MM' s recent C4 show. Smile

Booklover89 · 22/08/2020 22:34

Hello everyone - have just finished day 2 of the plan and hoping that joining in here will keep me motivated! Weighed in at 67kg (10.5 stone) this morning and hoping eventually to get to 60 kg.

Like many, I put a bit on in lockdown, mainly due to using evening wine to decompress from work/curb anxiety. I’m going strictly off alcohol for a month to try to kick that habit.

Managed a light Couch 2 5k and a weights workout today as well but expect the next few days will be quite rough...

Jollyholibobs · 22/08/2020 23:27

Don’t be put off Konjac noodles by the smell when you open the pack. Rinse them and let them air a little and I think they are fine. I know not everyone likes them

Little challenge to day busy and active helping DH course down trees. No time for lunch. Once he starts a task there’s no stopping till it’s done. Then he suggests going out to eat. But can’t get a table until 8.45. Absolutely starving so given I’ had nothing since breakfast I had a small snack of one slice of courgette topped with hoummous. But there was some aubergine parmigiana left over from yesterday so I had that too. Restaurant did me lots of extra veg instead of potatoes with a lovely Piece of hake. I gave the cheese a miss but DH tucked in with a glass of desert wine. To keep him company I ordered a green tea. Arghh the green tea came with a beautiful hand made chocolate. But I actually chose not to eat it and DH gladly put it out of its misery. Hopefully the early evening snack will not have too much of an impact.

Plan for tomorrow is to delay breakfast until just before I need to start helping DH and then skip lunch. I’ve not embraced TRE at all yet.

Goodnight all.

Very restrained, holibobs!

Official weigh-in this morning after my first week, and I'm now in the overweight category! That was my first target, so my reward will be a long overdue trip to the hairdressers Smile
