Sounds like you're off to a great start.

Restarting on a Friday is definitely a thing, as is restarting right now Grin

I'm meeting a friend for a drink tonight. Bloody typical that I've had no social life for months and suddenly I start a diet plan and someone is like 'let's go out!' I'm going to stick to red wine or gin and diet tonic. That's OK isn't it? First weigh in tomorrow too :(

@justanotherneighinparadise yes I'd probably just add a bit of sweetener if it's just the sweetness he's missing. I'm adding sweetener to some of my coffee's because sometimes I just need that taste. But I'm happy that I'm weaning myself slowly off sweet coffee.

You could get him some sugar free sweets or Diet Coke etc to tide him over.

Duck, find the best way is to not have things like Nutella in house. If it's there, v. hard not to gravitate to it.

Also, do you have mechanisms in place to hold self accountable, such as counting cals? Personally tend to discuss cals with DP, because telling her piles on pressure to comply with regimen.

Always hard to draw line between being kind to self and allowing self to take liberties...

@outwest thing is, I actually went to the shop and bought the Nutella on my way home 😂😭 I keep the little glass jars to use as cups. It's disgusting how many I have...

I use my fitness pal, but all my accountability goes out the window whenever I see red. I either scoff on rubbish or drown in wine. If I could send my my fitness pal daily calories to someone at the end of the day then I think I'd feel more accountable. Can someone chase me to post my calories on here at the end of every day?? 🥴

I would love to rid the house of all things I can't have but unfortunately what I want more than anything is toast. I don't think I can deprive the children of sandwiches. I'm not fussed about sweet stuff but I could live on nothing but bread.

My keto test strips have arrived. I look forward to trying one in a minute. I feel like I'm TTC again Grin

@Cantteach According to MFP 11 cherries has 12g of carbs and 40 calories so just factor that in to your daily totals.

I just had 3 grapes because I was preparing sliced apples with grapes for DS so couldn't help myself.

MFP calculates it as 5 cals and 1.2g carbs which is made up of the sugar content.

I'm not having a good day today Sad

I started my fast earlier last night which meant I ate a lot earlier today, all I can think about is food today and it's only day 3.

I've had mushroom and cheese and spinach omlette for breakfast

Boiled eggs and bacon and spinach for lunch, and I've just caved and had Greek yogurt and berries for a snack. I only have 105 calories left over for dinner Confused I'm not even craving sweet things?! What I actually want is cashew nuts but I'll literally get about 5 for the calories I have left so they're a no go!

I'm going to have to have a Tin of tuna and some spinach and tomatoes for tea I think as I don't have the calories for anything else! Plus I just want it now but it's too early to start fasting nowConfused

ace, have you tried not eating breakfast?

Everybody is different, some of us on here fine pushing on through until lunch, some not. My own experience is that if I "wake up" my gut with food in morning, will get rumbles and hunger pangs mid-morning. If have a black coffee, feel like I did ingest something (rather than nothing) but don't get hunger pangs and can hold on to midday easily.

If you can push through to lunch, then you get two decent meals in 8-hour window between 12 noon and 8 PM (or 1 PM and 9 PM, etc.) instead of three small ones in longer window.

Psychologically you may want food, but physiologically you probably don't need it - it's because we all have excess reserves of fat on which we can draw for energy that we're doing this anyway!

12g carbs!?! Shock That's a no for the cherries then. Ace I second what Outwest says, two meals is the way to go, if it means you fast for longer then that's not a bad thing either. It does take a while to adjust to it though.

Yes I think you're right. To be fair I'm not even normally a breakfast eater. I can normally last to 11:20/12 before I eat but food is on my mind a lot and I'm usually having a few coffees with sugar which seem to get me through. Black tea/coffee doesn't seem to be helping me Grin

I think I might need to try and last a bit longer tomorrow morning. And maybe stop thinking about food Grin

I have some ketone strips somewhere from when I last did Keto so i might dig them out and poas Smile

Evening All,

I've done an OMAD day, having celebrated my daughters GCSE results at lunch.

I had some chicken wings, some mini riblets and some halloumi. For dessert I had the mini brownie from the children's menu. According to MFP this came to over 1300 kcals which is ridiculous for three starters and a kids pudding really, but I'm not hungry now and it'll make for a nice long fast through to lunch tomorrow. Could certainly have been a lot worse anyway!

I've struggled to be motivated for exercise in the last few days so I need to get back on this tomorrow. If I'm not managing now, I'll never manage when we all go back to school/work next month!

Hoping to be in a new stone bracket by next weigh in which will be next Weds.

Have never got any darker than 'trace' on the keto sticks despite losing weight consistently. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Personally I would have eaten the tuna at 4 ace - hope it knocks the head on your hunger whenever you eat it!

Dessert for me today was a spoon of peanut butter and a square of dark chocolate - I have gone over on cals though - it's not exactly a pudding that you would dish out for your family though 😬

Well done on ketosis oyster - I am 100% with you on the toast - we had fluffy bakery bread today and by some miracle I resisted!!

Still no loss for me but things err shifted today so fingers crossed!

Ahhh fluffy bakery bread I am drooling!

I ate my tuna at 6pm and had a coffee with 100ml of milk to finish me off and then started my fast. All I can think of is food so I e found today particularly hard and no ketones yet either Angry

Hopefully I'll be in full ketosis by tomorrow!

Anyone got any nice recipe for what I can have for dinner tomorrow? I don't feel like it's Friday unless I have a good tasty tea.

I have never tested my ketones. I watched an interesting video the other night that said basically if you were losing weight on a ketogenic diet you were successfully in Ketosis. So I decided not to get hung up on it

Dinner wise I made chicken curry this evening with mangetout, mushrooms and cauliflower rice all fried off together. Apparently it was all good.

Hi folks! I stated on Monday, and I’m feeling positive and strong.

I’d been having soup and salad for lunch: realised today I don’t need both, one is enough.

B smoked trout, which I prefer to salmon, and kimchi
L tomato feta soup, cottage cheese and pickle salad
D crab stuffed portobellos, have some left for tomorrow lunch.

Now enjoying an alcohol free gnt and 6 cashews.

I think I'm probably in Ketosis right now actually after nearly 2 weeks in. I've been very strict with myself. My mouth tastes metallic and I've felt more tired the last 24 hours and my boobs, hips and arms have shrunk a bit. I'm hoping that in a months time I'll see a noticable difference.

I'm finding I prefer cooked food as opposed to salads even in this weather.

Week 1 loss is 4.8lbs. Very pleased. I just need 1lb off to get into the next stone bracket.

10 days is and running total is 9.6lb off. I still need to loose another 38lb to move from obese to overweight. For the first time I actually feel that's achievable. I know my loss will slow down but I'm not hungry and I'm enjoying what I am eating. We're away this weekend so a lot of food choices will be beyond my control. I'm just going to do my best but will probably have a couple of drinks and then carry on from Monday.
