What's on everyone's menu for today?

I'm having fried feta and mushrooms with spinach for lunch and beef and lentil stew with cannellini bean mash for dinner.

outwest · 19/08/2020 08:43

What's on everyone's menu for today?

Thinking chicken with wholewheat noodles for lunch, pork steak in mustard sauce for dinner. Two longstanding favourites.

Cantteach · 19/08/2020 08:55

Hummus, carrot & spinach 'wrap' for lunch. Can't say the idea of those items being wrapped in cold omelette is actually very appealing but we're out for the day so I needed a packed lunch. Hoping it tastes better than it sounds.

As we'll be back late-ish we're having last week's spag bol from the freezer with cabbage replacing the pasta and salad on the side. Think I'll end up slightly over 800 but it's the best I can do today.

Have lost another 1.2lbs since yesterday so doing ok.

justanotherneighinparadise · 19/08/2020 09:15

So I decided to cruise into a 48 hour fast today 😮. I’ve had a coffee and feel absolutely fine so far. I’m going to see how the day pans out. The longest fast I’ve completed is 36 hours so I’m going to give it a go just to force this stall to end.

justanotherneighinparadise · 19/08/2020 09:16

Oooh by the way someone on a Facebook group found protein noodles in Lidl! The packaging made them look like they were in the chiller, so I’ll be looking out for those on Saturday, my DP would be delighted.

Found a pic.

Today's Menu:

Lunch: Easy salad, using premade aldi bits.

Dinner: something Bolognese. It's from the freezer and my family will have it with pasta. I'm thinking possibly pre cooking some portobello mushrooms and using them as lasagne sheets?

Also doing a hiit, and a cycle. Poss weights but I've a bit of a twinge in my back so I'll play that by ear.

Oysterbabe · 19/08/2020 10:21

My DH is doing this with me too, although he only says he's doing it while snacking on whatever he finds lying around. I need to find a way of stopping him inhaling a whole bag of nuts, which should have been more than 10 portions.

Final episode of the channel 4 series tonight. I'll be interested to see how they've done.

outwest · 19/08/2020 10:58

inhaling a whole bag of nuts

Love nuts, especially hazelnuts, but shockingly calorific!

Oysterbabe · 19/08/2020 11:10

I wonder about nuts and whether they are worth having considering the calorie content but I'm determined to give this a proper go, so following the recommendations. Maybe I'll get better results that way.
I just want a dramatic difference at 8 weeks when I take another progress picture.
4 days done, 52 to go!

Oysterbabe · 19/08/2020 11:14

I really don't feel hungry today so maybe it's working as it should.

Flibbertyjibbit · 19/08/2020 12:47

Happy Birthday Pancake!

I'm really pleased with my first weeks result. 8.4lb lost this week. Plus I've lost 10cm off both my waist and chest. DH has lost a lb more than me and his blood sugars have never been better which is fab!

Today's menu:
L: Chicken satay with salad
D: No carb ploughman's

Oysterbabe · 19/08/2020 13:04

Wow, that's incredible Flibberty. Well done to you and your DH.

TantricTwist · 19/08/2020 15:56

Well done @Flibbertyjibbit

I'm doing really well sticking to my BSD Fast 800 so far and clothes are fitting more comfortably. I'm one and half weeks in now. I have a long way to go still re losing the weight I want, which is approx 3 stone, and not really getting hunger pangs except at night but by that time I'm in bed. I had a couple of evenng blips re snacking but I've passed that now and I was transferring those cals on to the next day.

Today I broke fast at lunch and had an avocado and 6 prawns as opposed to my usual bacon omelette. I was planning more of a salad but didn't realise we'd run out of lettuce, so my portion looked a bit dismal but actually the avocado is helping me feel full so far.

This evening I'll probably have a mushroom omelette with fried cabbage on the side followed later by berries and yoghurt.

For some reason I'm enjoying the strictness of 800 BSD cals and it's limitations prevent me from having too many choices. It's also a revelation having such small portions which are actually giving me all the energy I need right now, so far. Hopefully I can manage the full 12 weeks which I've given myself as a target. Then I'll swap over to 5.2.

Beroltheperil · 19/08/2020 19:16

Checking in on my day 3.
I managed 16/8, stuck to my food plan except I ate extra halloumi (oops but at least not carby). I'm definitely not used to it yet. Still feeling grumpy and deprived. But I listened to a weight loss hypnosis today which used visualization of yourself at target weight and somehow that image is keeping me going. I'm not really into hypnosis but I know it works for many people. I have to stick this out for 14 days and then I can start 5/2 or possibly 4/3. I was 2lb down when i weighed this morning but i know it'll be water at this stage.
This is so tough isn't it... Well done everyone, you are doing so well.

outwest · 19/08/2020 21:25

Starting to feel diet mindset fraying... Still sticking to script, still basing food on BSD recipes, still recording big calorific deficits, but exceptions creeping in more often, like chocolate pudding tonight. Understandable this is happening - am down 41 lbs, and only a pound from goal - but feel am in "winding down" mode.

Maybe should just switch to maintenance, as goal figure was arbitrary anyway (basically just picked a big round number representing healthy BMI). Will try to push on for another week, maybe to end of month. See how it goes for now. Maintenance an unknown quantity at this point. Hmm

yumyumpoppycat · 19/08/2020 22:03

Outwest Maybe you could try 2:5 at first and have 2 days at maintenance calories? Well done on 40lbs

outwest · 19/08/2020 22:09

Hadn't thought of 2:5. Thank you, interesting.

TantricTwist · 20/08/2020 07:49

I closed the kitchen last night on 760 cals because I fell asleep much earlier than usual.

I've just broken fast with a cup of tea and a dash of milk, 100 gm greek yogurt and 60gm berries at 124 cals according to MFP, which now feels like a normal and decent portion. I'll be having 2 cups of coffee in a while. Lunch will probably be mushroom and bacon omelette and dinner will be left over aubergine parmigiana which I baked and ate for last nights dinner.

justanotherneighinparadise · 20/08/2020 08:01

Yay! The scale jumped down and I’m now 154lb. 4lbs to go until I hit my first target. Then I’ll take a deep breath and see if I’ve got another 7lb in me 🙈

Oysterbabe · 20/08/2020 08:34

Fantastic, well done :)

aceofbase1 · 20/08/2020 08:47

Hey I'm new Smile

I started another thread the other day as I felt so miserable due to lockdown weight gain. Figured this looks like a lovey thread and I'd join in Grin

I was 10stone 13 prior to lockdown and I'm 5ft 4

Ballooned up to 12 stone 10 Sad I started fast 800 and TRE on Tuesday and I'm down 2.6lbs up to now! Grin

I've started to go for a daily walk and just ordered an Apple Watch to spur me on to be more active!

I have an even next weekend and if like to have lost half a stone by then!

Then hopefully I can get straight back on it!

justanotherneighinparadise · 20/08/2020 08:56

Well done @aceofbase1 that’s a great loss 👏

What kind of things are people having for dessert? I get DP Greek yogurt and berries but he’s moaning about a lack of sweetness in anything 🙈. I’m not sure whether to get one of the Keto friendly sweeteners to shut him up 🤣

outwest · 20/08/2020 09:17

What kind of things are people having for dessert?

Usually nothing, unless cheating. Find it hard to fit anything in that won't break daily calorie budget. Have occasional apple as mid-afternoon snack. Yoghurt & berries sounds about the best?

DuckPancake · 20/08/2020 09:26

I have returned from birthday celebrations, didn't go overboard, only even had one glass of wine too, but have just scoffed some Nutella toast 😭 I was annoyed with the nurse at my GP surgery so I wanted to eat in a huge chocolatey rage...

Is starting again on a Friday a thing? 🥴 I don't want to start slipping down the 'oh well I f**ked up today so the rest of the week is a write off' slope...
