16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

@HereIGoAgainAndAgain that's amazing!

Wingbing · 14/01/2019 09:11

I follow 16:8 all the time. It’s not a diet, more of a lifestyle for me.

When working I have a substantial lunch at 11.30, then dinner at 7.30.

At the weekend I eat earlier so I can run, then have dinner earlier.

It really works for me, i’m 5’9” and 10 stone. As long as I fast for those 16 hours I can eat pretty much what I want for those two meals.

I only avoid puddings, snacks and pastry really. Alcohol at the weekend.

Just make the two meals substantial with lots of veg, salad & protein. Low gi carbs help too.

Welcome, FlamingGoat! I'm two weeks in and already it's not as hard. I could have held off eating at 11am today, I didn't feel starving at all. I did have my breakfast then, because I want to do 11-7 again. It suits me. Weight-wise, it looks like I'm two pounds down which is grand. It's a start. I feel better as well.
HereIGo, that's brilliant, well done! You're off to a great start.
Thanks for that, Wingbing, that really is the way to do it.

FlamingGoat · 14/01/2019 15:35

I didn't get to eat today until 2.30! So a good start to my fasting. I had a home made ham salad and a teeny tiny pot of no sugar jelly.

jinglewithbellson · 14/01/2019 17:15

A delayed start for me as dd home poorly from school and before I remembered my fasting times I was eating pate on toast and coffee for brekkie Grin
Am starting tomorrow now.
Plan is to do 12-8 so have made some whole meal thins with salad and beef in for my lunch and tea is a beef slow cooker meal stacked with veg. Plan on having fruit for a snack in between.
Fingers crossed.
Bought myself a little weight loss board in the range and put it up so I have a visual reminder

16:8 any success?
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/01/2019 17:22

I like that board, jingle!
Hi Flaming, I hope your day is going well.

Cocolepew · 14/01/2019 17:33

Thanks fuzzy Smile
I managed ok without my breakfast and funnily started to only feel hungry after I had eaten Hmm
I had some tinned grapefruit at 10 then crackers, cheese and grapes at 12.
Have just finished some tacos and Im going to have a cup of tea and a biscuit then that's me done (Shock!)
Well done to those who have lost weight already Smile

angeltattoo · 14/01/2019 17:37

Hello all,

I appear to have started this. I fasted for 14 hours overnight...ate from 8:45-5:30 today. Did an hour of Bodypump.

I am aiming for 15:9...but can easily eat 3 meals in that time, or should I really aim for 2?

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 14/01/2019 17:38

IsFuzzy well done on losing 2 lbs that's brilliant!

Sounds like everyone is having a good daySmile

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 14/01/2019 17:41

angel I would start with 3 and if you find that you are not losing then maybe reduce down to two. I do 2 meals, no breakfast and no snacks(most days), so far its been fine but its only been a week!!

FlamingGoat · 14/01/2019 18:26

I'm sat at work surrounded by boxes and boxes of Christmas chocolates we were given. It's killing me! I'm also doing no sugar. I could cry!

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 14/01/2019 20:06

FlamingGoat Oh I feel your pain I absolutely love chocolate, stay strong you can do this Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/01/2019 20:19

Don't even sniff one, FlamingGoat! Deep down, you know it's better to stay away from them. I love nice chocolate too (sighs).
I started logging my food into My Fitness Pal. Apparently, I am supposed to eat between 1100 and 1500 calories as a fairly sedentary short person. Eek. It's not a lot at all. There is no room for chocolate on that plan (sighs again).

Cocolepew · 14/01/2019 20:49

Oh no Goat! Stay strong 💪.
DH came home with a bar of chocolate for me at 5.54. He thought I was being unreasonable not eating it because it wasn't 6pm yet HmmGrin

FlamingGoat · 15/01/2019 07:19

Didn't cave Grin Went to bed after an Epsom salts bath. And so begins another day.
I have a yankee candle wax melt in the hallway. It smells like Christmas cake and its driving me mad. I have made a chicken and cheese salad for lunch and I have a bowl of berry oats for later. It's a busy day at work today so this is doable!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/01/2019 07:29

The wax melt would drive me crazy, FlamingGoat! I would be looking everywhere for the Christmas cake.
Good luck today, everyone.

angeltattoo · 15/01/2019 09:26

Thanks hereIgoagain.

I managed to fast from 6pm last night and I am just about to have some breakfast.

I have had two coffees with milk this morning so far - I have a splash of milk in them, a bit worried about it breaking the fast. I just picked up some unsweetened almond milk, I think I read that as it has no sugars it won't break your fast? Although I don't know if I can manage to drink it...😬

jinglewithbellson · 15/01/2019 10:48

Wee I started last night. Didn't eat after 8 pm and won't now till after 12pm.
Had a cup of tea with sweetener and the tiniest splash of milk when I got up and have been drinking fruit tea since.
Have made beef and salad thins for lunch and tea is a smal bagel with salad and egg.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/01/2019 11:37

I'm feeling very headachy today, so not a brilliant day so far, but working through it with water and paracetamol. Doing well on the food front.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 15/01/2019 12:48

IsFuzzy sympathy with the headache, I can really suffer but have found drinking loads of water really helps - it's actually the reason I stopped 5:2, so far I have found this way of fasting far gentler.

Stopped fast and I am now tucking into spicy cous cous with beetroot Smile

Good luck everyone!

FlamingGoat · 15/01/2019 13:49

I only have a teeny tiny bit of semi skimmed milk in my tea. Can't drink it without . Will that affect my fast? frets
Went until 12.15 today and had a WW Ginger and lemon cardboard biscuit. Now just waiting for someone to relieve me for lunch.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/01/2019 19:00

Thanks, HereIGo, it was uncomfortable for a while; I must make sure to drink enough water. Otherwise, the day went fine. Two meals which included a lot of vegetables (stir fry/salad)and a snack of apple, crackers and cheese in the afternoon. I finished eating at 7pm.

Cocolepew · 15/01/2019 20:28

Going ok so far, on my second day Grin. Driving everyone mad telling them how long its been since I last ate.
Had a grapefruit at break, chicken and salad wrap and crisps at lunch and pizza and kitkat for tea.
Im going to try to drop the 10 am fruit and not eat until 12.
My dinner isn't very healthy atm, I need to shop now I've been paid. DD decided she's going off meat and is wanting to cook veg curry etc so I'll eat what she makes.
Hope everyone is getting on ok.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/01/2019 21:02

Ha ha, Coco, you will have them all frazzled :) my DD (14) also wants to become vegetarian. The only problem is that she doesn't like vegetables, only carrots.

jinglewithbellson · 15/01/2019 21:11

I think I've done well so far today.

I ate between 12 and 8pm.

Have had fruit tea and Pepsi max and a glass of water throughout the day and during non fasting I did have two coffees with sweetener and a splash of milk.

Lunch was wholemaeal thins with beef and salad and tea was bagel with scrambled egg and salad.

Tomorrow's tea is slow cooker beef stew and lunch is a salad and tuna thin and fruit and carrot sticks.

Fingers crossed Grin
