16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

12fromcold that's brilliant, well done!

Today so far has been a lot better than yesterday, didn't wake up starving and no headache, I shall definitely keep drinking loads of water. Tomorrow and the weekend will be tough as work from home on a Friday and also do the food shop, so the temptation to put too many goodies in the trolley which I can then munch whilst working is always a problem Blush

ILiveInSalemsLot · 10/01/2019 08:42

12from that’s fantastic!
I’m hungry this morning. I’m trying to see it as good. If I’m hungry and not eating then my body needs to use my fat reserves.
I’ll have try to keep busy til 12 so I’ve planned a walk even though it’s freezing.
I’ve got a tonne of chores to do and I’ve made a list to tick off.
I’m making a Thai style butternut squash, chickpea and kale soup for lunch. Dinner is chicken and spinach curry with rice. Snacks are fruit and 2 oatcakes with peanut butter, which I’ll try not to eat.

12fromcold · 10/01/2019 09:44

I quite enjoy being hungry because I feel like it's doing some good! Channel the hunger into something else, working out always take hunger away for me for some reason

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 10/01/2019 11:15

Well done, 12fromcold! I have just had breakfast at 11am. Devoured my tea and toast. I had a good morning, probably getting used to the new routine, one week today.

I like the sound of your menu plan ILive; it sounds very tasty. It's my son's birthday today, so mine will include birthday cake :)

ILiveInSalemsLot · 11/01/2019 10:08

Yesterday was ok. I stuck to the time limits but I think I ate too much food. I’m hoping that my appetite will start to reduce more.
I’m hungry at the moment but will have a coffee. I’m out til 1 so won’t eat anything til then.
I’ve got some of that Thai soup for lunch. I’m going to add some rice to it today to make it more filling.
Then homemade chicken burgers for dinner with some potato wedges and salad. No bun for me.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 11/01/2019 10:18

ILive love the sound of your Thai soup is it home made?

Yesterday, went to plan but was hungry in the evening but thanks to however suggested the Zero app which I have been using it kept me on track as I didn't want to tap on stop fast Smile

Weekend I will still eat within my 8 hour window but will probably be having more calories (not that I'm counting) and then it will be my first official weigh day on Monday!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 11/01/2019 11:07

Yes. I found a recipe for a sweet potato, kale and chick pea soup so I though I’d try it with some Thai paste and coconut milk instead. It’s really delicious.
I used butternut squash as that’s what I had at home.
So I fried onions, added butternut squash, added paste then coconut milk and water and seasoning. Then kale and chickpeas and just let it simmer.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 11/01/2019 11:15

I think I'm going to make that it sounds delicious. Yesterday I cooked sweet potato and swede mashed and added some sage it was lovely, I had it with sausages but you could use as a topping for cottage pie.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/01/2019 11:18

Hi all, that soup does sound good, ILive. I'll try to make it some time.

I'm keeping to my 11-7 window. I think I'll stick to it for the weekend too. It should be easier as I'll be getting up an hour later. I just polished off a slice of leftover birthday cake so I'm going to have to cut back completely on treats this weekend.

Good luck! Keep up the good work :)

troubleswillbeoutofsight · 11/01/2019 11:25

I did it for six months two years ago and, with healthy diet, lost one and half stone. I’ve since piled on one stone and am doing it again with dry January. So far I’ve lost 3 lbs. I’m pretty sure on its own the 16::8wouldnt have much effect. It’s got to combined with less and healthier grub

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/01/2019 13:12

Yes, trouble, I think so too. If I lose half a stone on it, I'd be happy.

jinglewithbellson · 11/01/2019 21:27

Am starting on Monday Grin
I used the calculator online and my calorie intake within the 8 hours says 1500 calories.
I quite often don't eat from tea time of an evening til lunchtime the next day or later so the 16 hour fast will work well for me however 1500 calories seems a lot if I'm trying to lose weight.
Think il try and stay within 1200 for the first few days and see how it goes from there

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 11/01/2019 22:19

Good luck, jingle. That sounds good as a starting point. I think I will have to start calorie-counting and be more strict with myself. I'm happy that I'm a week in; it's a start and a step in the right direction.

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 13/01/2019 09:24

How's everyone's weekend going?

Yesterday I only managed a 15.5 hour fast as Saturday's are the days I do my long runs and there is no way I can do that without having breakfast, so I also had three meals instead of my usual two. But I figure you have to tweek a bit so it's doable for you.

The good news is I am no longer getting any headaches, which can be a real diet breaker for me! I know its early days but I am finding it quite easy to stick to, fingers crossed the scales tomorrow will show a loss Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/01/2019 10:06

Hi HereIGo, that sounds very good. Fingers crossed! I had to break my fast last night. My friend asked me to go to a birthday party with her and I had some food to be sociable. I'm doing a twelve hour fast this morning, eating window from 12pm.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/01/2019 10:16

Just wanted to add after read this that this is the only “diet” I have ever stuck with.
Fell into it by accident, eat between midday and eight usually, minimal snacking, upped my activity levels and over about a year lost 11kg and have kept it off
It’s been life changing for me
Great to read other people’s experiences and to know that just plodding along doing this is long term and sustainable for me

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/01/2019 10:16

Did fall off the wagon this week and am back having the horrible headaches but 🤞 that will settle

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/01/2019 10:20

Hi hobnob, good for you. It's great to hear that it worked for you and that it is sustainable. I'll keep plodding along so... :)

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 13/01/2019 13:57

Hobnob that is really encouraging especially the fact you kept it off. I think any diet will work if you religiously stick to the rules but it's the keeping it off that's the hard part........like you I'm intending for this to be the way I will always eat.

Cocolepew · 13/01/2019 14:25

Hi I'm going to try this from tomorrow. I love a breakfast so might struggle! I'm going to have an extra half hour in bed instead.
I'm going to do 10-6, I have my break in work at 10, I'll have fruit then , my usual lunch at 12 and dinner is usually around 5.
My worst habit is constantly eating from about 7pm onward.
I've downloaded the app and I'm feeling positive Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 13/01/2019 14:31

Thanks for the welcome
I think what I have found easy about it is the lack of “rules”
I do fall off the wagon sometimes but feels ok when that happens and ok to get back on track

giantnannyknickers · 13/01/2019 14:34

The BodyFast app helped me keep tracking of my fasting, I've lost 1,5kg so far and only been doing it 2 weeks. I've been trying to do keto on the 8 hours I can eat but I'm a vego who doesn't eat eggs so it's not really working but I'm having a lot of salads and above the ground veg to bulk up my dinners

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/01/2019 19:34

Hi Coco that sounds like a plan, good luck. I also love my breakfast too. I have a delayed breakfast of tea and toast at 11am on weekdays. Going well so far, giantnannyknickers! Your food plan sounds healthy. I had a good day today, 12-7pm. All set for 11am tomorrow. Have a good week, everyone.

FlamingGoat · 14/01/2019 07:27

Hello! Can I join you? This thread popped up in active last night so had a look and have decided to give it a whirl.
Started last night. Last meal was 7.30pm.
I've set myself the 14/10 to start with as I have to work around shift timings then hopefully I can go 15/9 then 16/8.
I'm bloody starving already!Grin

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 14/01/2019 07:38

Weighed today and I have lost 5 lbs!!! So pleased I know it will mostly be water but I already feel a lot better, all the bloating has gone, I am hoping for a steady 1-2 lb loss going forward Smile

Flaming welcome the first few days are the worst but it does get a lot easier........honest Smile
