Gah, another terrible day for me. Not sure what’s got into me, but I’m carb crazy and considering I’m going away tomorrow I’m just going to go with it and eat a takeaway with Dh. I don’t do it often, but I totally feel like I’ve hit a wall today.

I’m categorically not going to go off piste all holiday though, I am back on it tomorrow, all guns blazing.

Amazing I think we all have days like that. But 1,100 calories is still low and what most people on a diet aspire to. You'll be fine, any gain will be very temporary. Sorry to hear you're feeling rotten. The hardest part of trying to lose weight is keeping going when the weight's not coming off. Focus on how far you've come. Sorry, that's a rubbish pep talk!

Enjoy your takeaway Bear.

And congrats on the great non scale victories Average.

Oh and happy holidays Alicatz and Bear.

Bear I'm so impressed that you're planning to stay on track over you holidays, that's serious dedication.

You do not want to know what I weighed in at this morning. Who would think that 2 days of gluttony could do that?! Now, some is Totm related, water retention etc, but most is just gluttony! In reality I probably overate by about 3500 cals which is about 1lb but the scales are cruel and they say much more than that. This is what concerns me about maintenance as for me, I have to keep to the principles regardless or I just pile weight on.

When I say I’m on it on Holiday, by that I do just mean the basics- no bread, no pasta, no rice, no grains, no sugar. Proper med style diet but not calorie counting as such. I’m not that strict! I lost 2lb last time we went away doing that, although my aim is really to maintain rather than lose. Last holiday I spent the week deliberating on exactly which delicious treat I was going to have on the last day and had a huge ice cream waffle sundae thing (which the dc shared/helped with) and that sort of kept Me going.

The most annoying thing about my terrible bingeing the last 2 days is that it wasn’t even nice. Someone said upthread about making sure treats really count and enjoying them; well, I didn’t really. It was just eating. I still have a bit of work to do to crack that, don’t I?

Anyway. Je ne regrette rien.

Have a great holiday all you who are off today!

I'm not really overweight but my clothes are getting tight and I always feel better without sugar and carbs ..so back on it next weekend as I've got 10 days then before a week in Spain .. I will find it easier there without the pasties

It went from bad to worse yesterday. Weighed in this morning and am 13.9.4 so 3lb off my lowest. Off for lunch with a friend but I'm taking lunch for her so will be BSD friendly. Slept really badly last night. Feel awful still. Really need to be eating better.

Sneaking back in to mark place after 2 weeks of camping and bread / crisps at almost every meal, not to mention gallons of wine 🙈 3lbs on which I am unbelievably relieved about - I thought it would be much worse! Will catchup later just saying helloooooo!

Have a great holiday Bear and Alicatz. Bear I think you are right to keep hold of the reins, I gained 3 lbs or so on my weeks holiday (didn't go mad either) and 2 weeks later I still haven't lost them, very dispiriting. Were the new potatoes, chips, sourdough and wine worth what is now a 3 week set back? Nope. I could be at my goal of 9 stone by now but instead am stuck on 9.9 / 9.8. Apologies if this contradicts the good holiday wishes but I just wish I enjoyed the sea air, no cooking or housework and had kept to the BSD principles.

Lovely holiday to all! I'm actually still in crazy work season so no venturing away for me until early Sept.

In the meantime, I'm still hammering away at semi-strict BSD. In other words, following the rules but slightly looser on calorie intake: anything below 900 cals is an excellent day, below 1000 a good day. Life is just too insane for the next two weeks to even contemplate 800 calorie days.

I think this week's 2 lb loss is real rather than random fluctuation, as it's been gone for 4 days running. I can do the same next week. And for the ... 28 weeks after that. OK, that's a little terrifying, but well, any loss is good. Stepping up activity is probably the only way to do it.

I have to admit, though, that I have been craving pizza. And realised I haven't had pizza since 3 January. (I did eat the toppings off a slice of pizza in June, but not the crust.) Yay willpower, I guess? That actually makes me feel kind of sad. Maybe when I lose a bit more I can reintroduce a slice or two of pizza every now and then? I'm just afraid it would open the floodgates. Then again, I had a few spoonfuls of rice at a meal a few weeks ago and it did not turn me into a ravenous rice consumption monster, so I expect I can do it.

Ugh, really, my eating isn't as disordered as that last paragraph sounds!

Thanks to whoever it was that mentioned Poppadoms, I didn't consider them to be low carb. You have saved me from caving and eating the massive bag of crisps that's in the cupboard!
Finishing today on 37.6g carbs and 913 calories.

Oooh, hadn't thought about poppadoms as a snack. Going to investigate!

862 cals and 32 gr carbs for today, though might have something small and dessert-ish before closing the kitchen.

Reasonably good day here I think, white coffee, spoon of peanut butter, steak, onions and tomatoes, schloer in wine glass, think that's it. Don't know calories as calories in sirloin steak reported differently on various sites. Put St Tropez 3 min tan stuff on in shower as a morale boost and wearing my comfiest dress. Instead of watching tv (sofa=wine) am reading an Inspector Wexford. Are you ok Amazing?

Popadoms are great as a snack- use them in place of breadsticks for dipping, crackers for cheese, nachos.

Just check that they are made only with lentil flour, some have rice flour as well (often the mini sized ones)

Yeah, I'm ok. Just a bit annoyed with myself. 1700 cal today which is an improvement. Was on 998 then went to the shop and bought ice cream and chocolate. Totally unnecessary and an expense that I really can't justify. Had delicious lunch and supper but don't think I was really hungry for either. Will do a long fast tomorrow as I feel achey and bloated. We're having dinner at the in-laws which usually means a roast. I managed to have no potatoes or yorkies last time but there is something weirdly unsatisfying about food in their house.

Sounds fine Amazing. Not that bad at all. Is there an old fave movie or sitcom you can watch, cheer yourself up? Or just have an early night, that's what I'm doing.

Checking in from my wedding weekend to say I'm managing okay so far. We stopped at a big country-style shopping place for lunch on the way down and they had an amazing salad bar, so I ignored the potato and pasta salads and filled up on everything else. Supper was trickier since almost everything on the menu was served with lots of potato or rice, but found hay-smoked roe deer which came with a celeriac puree, so took that as my best option. So far have said no thank you to crisps, freshly-baked bread rolls and dessert, so willpower holding up so far!

A good start yesterday, although good options were limited in the motorway services - I ended up having chicken from Waitrose and a bag of pork scratchings! Then for dinner we had salad and spicy chicken. Lots of walking- we are a decent 20 mins from the beach which is walkable but still a fair walk with little ones. Then Dh and I had a few glasses of wine. Many times during the day I had to say no to sugary things, as the urge is still there to dive in!

Today- running this morning (love running in new places so really excited about that) and then beach, so will take a picnic that’s BSD compliant.
