Hovis my littlest starts preschool in January too- I can’t wait!!
We’re going to Devon so even though the forecast is really good, hopefully it won’t be too hot and I’ll be able to get up early like I do here and get a few km in. As much for my mood as for my weight!

Preschool must be the holy grail! Grin I have early rising children and a husband that often works away or at least leaves the house before 6.30 and geta home often well after 8 so I have really struggled to get back to decent exercise over the last couple of years. I am deternined to prioritise that over doing jobs when DS starts in January!

I am sure going out for early runs will be lovely. I have always preferred early exercise and running in new surroundings is fab!

Hovis I still have a lot to go, I'll be doing a few cycles of BSD I think.

Excellent point about assessing if food is really worth it. The BSD way of eating definitely makes you more aware of what actually tastes good.

And Bear I forgot water and lots of walking on my plan, thanks for the reminder. I know what you mean about PMT symptoms, it's a weird voracious appetite almost self sabotaging - hard to explain.

Damn, have just realised that I'm due on while I'm on holiday. The perfect storm! Will have to be extra careful.

Morning lovely BSDers - I forgot the last thread was finished and just thought everyone was very quiet and not posting! 😆 Well done on loads of fantastic losses. I am looking forward to getting back to it, I am maintaining nicely at the moment but interested to see if I can get any further down.

On reading back that's really interesting about the dawn phenomenon - makes total sense. I had gestational diabetes and pcos too but have never had any ongoing tests regarding either. Wondering if I should have had.

Pony if you’ve had GD then they should offer you an HBA1C test every year. You’re statistically more likely to develop T2. I had Gd 3 times, with my third it was the horrible woozy sugary feeling that made me do a pregnancy test as I recognised it so well, and I saw a consultant and was on insulin before I’d even seen a midwife or had a scan!! Consultant told me after that that it’s not ‘if’ but ‘when’ with regards to T2 and that my body clearly can’t cope with hormonal stress (so for example, menopause etc will likely cause it to develop)

Well done Hovis and thanks for setting up the recipe thread, Bear.

DH's birthday yesterday so planned a day off and we went out for breakfast at 11am and had a barbecue at 7.30pm. I have just input everything that I can remember because I was pissed into MFP and it comes in at 3,536 cal and 286g carbs ShockShockShockShockShock

I feel absolutely appalling today. No sleep due to indigestion and have awful reflux. Plus feeling sluggish, nauseous and mentally foggy. And my pancreas hurts. I was not hungry after the breakfast tbh. So every single one of the 2,450 calories that I ate later in the day was not required by my body. Sorry body.

I've managed 2 cups of green tea which is helping the indigestion a bit but my god what a wake up call.

If I do one thing until I get to target it's going to be to log every last calorie so I am really being honest with myself. And logging my weight every day not just when it has gone down.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 03/08/2018 11:36

Have weighed myself and I've gone up nearly 4 lbs. I have also worked out that I ate 4.5 days calories yesterday.

Amazing that made me smile, you sound like me yesterday! If you learned from it though, it wasn’t wasted. And in reality, 3000 calories is only a pound gain - though it might take a few days to balance out (i was showing 3+ lbs up this morning) so it’s not the end of the world. One day like that once in a while won’t make us overweight, and to be honest, consistent overeating and over-carbing but on a smaller scale will do much more damage.

Draw a line, move on
————————————

As an aside, I only ever record my weight if I’ve lost, i don’t record the ups and downs, but have been wondering if I should?

Welcome Madame! Love the user name. This is the best thread on mumsnet just so you know. What are your plans? When are you starting etc

Bear - I think a losing recording my gains is part of a much larger fundamental problem. It may not be for you though!

Report
TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 03/08/2018 11:49

That should say 'I think AVOIDING...' I clearly have a problem with proofreading too.

I have never been offered any blood test follow-ups bear. Will ask next time I am at the GP. I didn't have GD with my second, and I am now in a different country so maybe something has slipped through the net.

I only record losses. I note the gains in my head though. I do feel like I am cheating MFP/Fitbit though who still carry on proclaiming my pre-gain weight! But then that motivates me to get back to it.

Pony I would definitely ask next time, it’s only a quick blood sample from the nurse.
Not sure about where you are, but my life insurance is invalid without a current HBA1C result and they won’t renew me until I provide it each year.

I record both, it hurts inputting a gain though. Its crazy how I can gain 2 lbs in a day but then it can take 2 weeks to lose it, that's just not fair! Hope you feel better soon Amazing, keep going, you are doing brilliantly. I think I was about 800 kc yesterday, certainly under 1,000. Today: 100 gr mushrooms for lunch, asparagus, large John Dory fillet and veg for dinner. I need to get back into proper weighing and calorie counting, I usually estimate. I have finally trained myself not to snack on kids endless meals. Resisted so far today, bagels, bacon and sausages, don't find it hard anymore. Last night I resisted fries, mayo and sticky ribs. Drank the wine though, my nemesis. None in the house now.

Would anyone have an idea for a low carb alternative to breadcrumbs?
Maybe I could mix them with parmesan.... 🤔

Report
thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/08/2018 16:26

You could try almond flour? Coconut flour? Or crushed up popadoms (check they are pure lentil and not lentil and rice).
Depends on the dish. Even just Parmesan alone goes quite crispy if you spread a thin layer on a tray and bake it, you could then crush it up into a crumb texture?

I have rice breadcrumbs "crispi crumbs" from Orgran (bought them on Ocado, I think). Some of my BSD recipes called for "wholemeal breadcrumbs" but couldn't find them anywhere. They aren't brilliantly low-carb: 100g has 77.4g of carbs and 374 calories, but I use a tablespoon which weighs about 10g, then I bulk it up with parmesan.

Thanks. I just used a teaspoon of normal breadcrumbs in the end. Finishing today on 27g carbs and 548 calories

A pretty good day - 861 cals, 38 gr carbs. I might have a bit of wine later, mixed with sparkling water, as a treat, but that wouldn't be a disaster.

Some online purchases have arrived and it is very pleasing to definitely be into a smaller size than I have been in years and years. Miles to go yet, many more pounds to lose, but for once I have to send stuff back because it's too big rather than too small. And a top that supposedly run small fit perfectly. Perfectly! I'm doing the happy dance.

Terrible day. Fasted til 2pm, ate cherries though I wasn't hungry, had a meal of about 400 calories at 3.30pm but wasn't hungry when I had it. I then ate another small meal at 6.30pm which was not BSD compliant and I did not want. So I have had about 1100 cals and 118g carbs and need a slap. I now feel really ill again. And quite miserable. I bought some new tops for work today and I now want to take them back because even though they looked ok earlier I'm assuming I will be back to square one and 16 stone tomorrow.
