It’s a brilliant idea! I never eat pre-packed salads, probably because i’m not out buying lunches at work etc, I never realised there was such variety on offer.

I’ve been contemplating setting up a recipe thread/inspiration thread to run alongside this one- maybe amazing could set that up instead and post your salads??!!

I ate loads yesterday, feel ok today though but didn’t dare weigh myself. I’m not running today either as my poor knees need a rest. Perfect opportunity for a nice light 800 calorie day right?! Let’s see....!!

bear - DH makes a great dressing which is 3 tablespoons of light olive oil, 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar and 0.5 teaspoon of wholegrain mustard.

I'm now 12lbs down and BMI is down to 24.7 Grin

Suggestions for surviving DH's niece's wedding this weekend?? I don't drink, so that's not going to be an issue, but I suspect I'm going to be very tempted to fall face-first into the chocolate brownie being served as dessert for the wedding breakfast!

Made these little courgette fritters for breakfast. Just grate a courgette, squeeze all the juice out, then mix with an egg and Parmesan, then fry it in a little fritter. Very tasty

Those fritters look great Bear! Will have to give them a try this weekend. Hope your non run day goes well today.

Great work Kevin! No idea how best to resist the wedding brownies though. Eating lots of protein for the main course and making sure you're well hydrated will at least make you feel fuller...or allow yourself the brownie but make sure you dance solidly for an hour afterwards?!

Kevin if it was me (especially as you’re not drinking) I’d enjoy the brownie dessert, and then in the evening buffet (if there is one) try to stick to BSD friendly options. The alternative, which I’ve also done, is make it v. Clear from the outset that you don’t eat sugar, but then be warned because people will catch you if you try and sneak a piece of wedding cake or pudding later on!

Kevin, I would cut the brownie in half and then put the other half on DP’s plate (assuming sitting next to him). If I couldn’t do that I would just eat it.

If you feel really strongly, though, a quick “sorry, no, I’m stuffed” before they put the plate down means you won’t be able to eat it even if tempted!

Post-holiday weigh in...11st 5.6. So about a 4lb gain for a week of wine, one pudding/ice cream a day, very little exercise, and no actual calorie counting. I’m happy with that.

Bear a recipe thread would be great and would make it much easier to stay on the wagon, especially week 4 onwards!

How about a thread with recipes we've liked and good eating out choices we've made? A tried and tested thread?

Thanks, I shall report back :)

I've now got an excellent incentive to continue - DH has had a pretty rubbish year so far (lost a parent plus had a leg in plaster for three months) and he's announced we definitely need a really nice tropical holiday before the end of the year, so we're looking at spending the first 10 days of December in Mauritius. That should keep me from descending into my usual winter staple diet of bucketloads of toast and Marmite!

Hi, enjoying reading people's updates, holding steady here, lost 1/2 lb, exciting stuff, blooming period, I feel cumbersome, plodding on. Sticking to one meal today as it is calorific, sirloin steak, Swiss chard and lentils. There is a half bottle of wine in the fridge winking at me. Considering having it tonight and then going teetotal for rest of August. DH is happy to join me. I will find it hard but it will speed up my weight loss as I usually have a piece of cheese with wine.

Ooohhh my mum makes courgette fritters too! But with Feta I think... I need to ask her for the recipe.

Although we were in France we were staying at my mum's house in the Pats Basque... so... it's a lot of meat and bread Grin and there is an amazing patisserie nearby. Hmm ah well. It was good. If a bit stressful.

And yes please to a recipe thread!!!

I'm on hols but still avoiding the carbs and sticking to med diet principles
It's great having an array of prepared salads and really enjoying shredded red and white cabbage so I'll do that at home

I don’t know if you’ll love me or hate me for this, but I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen and we have made cake. Actual cakey, low carb, sugar free cake.

It looks like it’s levitating In the photo, but it isn’t, it’s just sitting in some cream.

220 cals and 4.5 g carbs per portion.

Inspired by Bears breakfast I made courgette, pea and feta fritters with yoghurt and mint dressing for dinner. They were lovely.
Finishing today on 761 calories and 29.4g carbs

Today was rather snacktacular as I forgot my lunch and we had a field trip that involved miles of walking in the sun. Got home and way too tired to cook, so had hummus and cucumber and cheese and some slices of prosciutto. Had some haribo and while it was tasty while eating it, has left a nasty aftertaste. Lesson learned.

So closing the kitchen at 1012 cals and 98 (!) gr carbs. But have lost 2 lbs this week so far of semi-strict (or maybe it's failed strict) BSD so it's all ok!

Pays basque.... not pats basque Hmm

Right.... flights survived. Wild DS (he had a drink with sweetener on the second flight accidentally and sweetener sends him loopy DD has the war wounds from today as proof) and exhausted DD asleep.

I am so so so bloated! But Saturday we are invited to “breakfast” for DH’s aunt’s birthday (84). I will aim at low carb tomorrow and see how I go.
I am planning a fast day on Monday and then I’ll also have the time to menu plan and shop for the week. I am so glad kindergarten only has a three week break

DS also has ADHD. Typical hyper, climbing, touching all the things and speaking/ making noise incessantly ADHD.

Sounds like you've all had busy days.

I'm done for the day at 725 calories which includes some much loved dark chocolate - just nudging 33g of carbs.

It's day two of skipping breakfast and so far I actually feel less hungry on the run up to lunch than I did previously. Let's hope it helps to nudge away at the dreaded plateau.

I am off on holiday today for 2 weeks so have done a final weigh in, 8.5 weeks after starting the BSD.... 24lb down so I am really happy with that :) Almost 13% of starting body weight lost.

Now I need to try and maintain, or at least limit the damage over the next fortnight!

We are in a villa so will mostly bbq etc so i am hoping it won't be too awful. My usual downfalls are booze and snacks. I have already got olives on the shopping list to avoid falling in to bags of crisps and will enjoy perusing the supermarkets for other aperitif nibbles! Booze wise I shall not drink beer (usual mid afternoon drink by the pool) and plan to stick to gin or white wine but will try and delay having any booze until 6ish.

I am sure I will have the odd bit of bread or almond croissant (!) but hoping I can keep it all under control.

I feel so much better for doing the last 8 weeks and am looking forward to getting back on it to lose a bit more (and amy holiday gain!) when I get back.

Well done Hovis that's a fantastic loss. I managed 20lbs in the end which I'm delighted with. In those first two weeks the finish line seemed so far away, and yet here we are now.

I'm off on holiday soon too - although I have another week to try and squeeze in a few extra lbs.

My holiday eating plans are:

Fast on the days I'm travelling

Skip breakfast on most days

Limit non BSD friendly foods to a maximum one meal a day and only one type ie either pudding or alcohol but not both

No snacking

Those may be my intentions but we'll have to see what the reality is!

Hovis that sounds like a great plan, and a fantastic weight loss!

We’re off tomorrow too. I had a terrible day/evening yesterday, ate my body weight in crap. Honestly, I was like some sort of possessed animal. So I’m planning to fast as long as possible today, and only eat when I’m actually hungry. I really have got to stop doing this to myself every month, I honestly think it’s the only pmt type symptom I actually have and I can feel it brewing a whole week before totm, usually culminating in an almighty binge a few days before. It’s horrible.

My holiday strategy is to not gain loads. So: BSD meals, lots of walking, lots of water, try not to snack and not too many things like sausage rolls etc (Dh is terrible for this kind of food). I’m also going to take my running kit, but planning to only do short runs every other day and give myself a proper break.

Soundsnlikr we all have excellent holiday plans... let's work hard to try and stay on track although I am not going to deprive myself if i really really want something. I think the key is to assess if ehatever it ia you are about to eat is really worth it! So an amazing pastry from a bakery might well be but a shop bought cake probably isnt if you know what I mean!!

polpette well done on your loss too! Have you got any more weight to lose? I would like another 7lb off which would make me the lightest i have been aince having dc almost 8 years ago! Then when my toddler starts preschool in January I am determined to get back to regular running which at a minimum will tone me up and maybe help get a few more lb off.

bear I know what you mean about totm cravings. Its so shit isnt it?! I definitely struggle not to constantly eat and I do think that I can suffer with hangriness which just exacerbates the PMT!

Sounds like you have a great holiday plan though. I shan't be doing huge amounts of exercise other than DC wrangling and playing in the pool etc. It is so hot in France and Spain at the moment (doing a week in each) that I think the pool will be the best place to be!
