@Westwing1 28 inch waist would be a very tough goal for me! I'll be over the moon with 30 inches. I'm at just over 32 inches now, I'm hoping I'll be able to go down to 30 by the end of 8 weeks

Koko are you vegetarian? If not, I would just get precooked chicken, ham, or prawns and a plain salad bowl. Tesco’s do individual sachets of dressings too. I am yet to find a reasonable priced salad bowl with no pasta or couscous in it. Or fancy things like ‘wheat berries’ whatever the hell they are?! It’s really tricky to eat out and it can send the whole day into a spiral if there’s nothing available. Or believe it or not mcd’s plain salad with chicken and bacon is BSD friendly, and even the crispy chicken on it isn’t mega carbs.
I used to grab a pack of nuts or something, but never checked them and realised that some of those ‘small’ packs have about 2 or 3 portions in and are hundreds of calories!!

I’m out tonight to see Dave Gorman, very excited he’s my favourite comedian. Popped up our local charity shop to drop off some stuff and ended up buying two lovely party dresses (both size 8!! Woohoo!) So May wear one tonight. Then just had a rather grim lunch of corned beef and fried egg, which to be honest I’m not proud of.....

I can empathise massively with the difficulties of buying food out Kokoloco. I bloody love a sandwich and its very hard if i haven't brought into work something appetising to distract me.

Been lazy this week and not done any meal planning which has been my downfall. Luckily I had batch-cooked some butternut squash coconut soup last week, so i defrosted it and have been eating that but i'm not gonna lie - i'm dreaming of baguettes and pasta and jacket potatoes. I just went to my work cafe and stood looking at all the cakes and carbs for 5 minutes before walking back to my desk Confused.

I had a couple of (wholemeal) wraps last night with my stir fry and i felt really bad after - like i'd failed, I'm trying to stay positive but i really need to sit down tonight and plan out the next week otherwise I may fall off the waggon hard. Its because I hit 7lbs off as a milestone on Tuesday, and whenever i hit a milestone i always regress for a bit - i'm not sure why? Anyone got a good pep talk for me? Smile

Have fun at Dave Gormann Bear!
Where in the country do you live? I was dropping off some stuff at Save the Children at the weekend and the clothes in there were all dire! I wish i had nice charity shops near me (SE london).

From I’m in Worcestershire, we have some brilliant charity shops but you do need a good rummage through!

I reckon it’s the cold that’s making me all carb crazy- combined with hormones. The only way to deal with it is to allow some I suppose- but make better choices- eg. Squash or pumpkin, mashed peas are lovely with fish or in place of potatoes, maybe some stewed fruit cooked with cinnamon and double cream?

I've just remembered that I'm due on this weekend so that may be why I'm struggling a bit with cravings...

Notes to my future self - 1. you cannot but dark chocolate as you will eat it all and 2. Don't make the world's most delicious lamb curry as you won't be able to resist going back for seconds

I feel bad for failing in my first week but will clamber back on the wagon!

@thenewaveragebear1983 - I like miso soup, it's warming and low in cals! I too was shocked when I discovered how many cals a small bag of nuts were.

@Kokoloco - my go to 'grab lunch is chicken and salad, lots of greens. Or Cully Sully chicken and veg soup is low carb and only 220 cals.

I must plan tomorrow's menu! I am out for lunch but will choose wisely!

Out for lunch today at Leon, they have a great thing on their website where you can filter the menu by various dietary requirements and it gives you options. I filtered by pescetarian, under 500 Cal's and found a lovely meze box I'm going to have. Wish more places did this!

SadGuru 32" waist here too, it was 36" in January! Chilli bean burger, roast peppers and green salad for lunch. Dinner will be asparagus and a poached egg. Snacked on some almonds. Did 30 mins on cross trainer. Hope everyone has a good Friday and don't undo all the weeks good work!

Anyone have any idea how many calories a battered haddock would be? Had a work lunch out and had fish and chips but swapped the chips for a side salad.

Report
thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2018 16:49

A chip shop one?

This is what my app says

For future ref, if you pull the batter off it’s actually really quite low calorie because none of the fat penetrates the fish. Obviously, that’s a massive waste of delicious crispy batter!

Nowhere, it's interesting what you were saying about Leon and high street shops/food places offering more options.

I was shopping Tuesday and Itsu accommodated me and it was delicious.

It's good to see more options being offered.

Sorry I haven't been posting regularly as I've been very busy last few days. So I've completed two weeks of BSD now. I've managed to stay under 800 calories on all days except one. Carbs have been low to moderate.

At the start:
Weight: 62.4kg
BMI: 27.7
Waist: 99cm

Week 1:
Weight: 59.6 kg
BMI: 26.5
Waist: 83 cm

Week 2:
Weight: 58.4 kg
BMI: 25.9
Waist: 80 cm

So in two weeks I've lost 4kg weight but more importantly I've lost about 12 inches from my waist, hips and abdomen!! My shape is already looking so different and I've been wearing more and more of my old clothes now.

I hope you don't mind me posting all the details, but looking at them makes me feel motivated to finish the full 8 weeks this time.

My last few days have been rubbish to be honest, I’ve been knackered, hormonal, and busy which is the worst combination for me and even though my meals have been really good, it’s the constant grazing and ‘treats’ which are totally overwhelming my efforts right now. I’m just making excuses really though and I know it.

Socially we have a fair bit on now until Christmas, but virtually none of it is food related, and even if it is, it’s one meal not an entire week of feasting. There’s no reason why I can’t have three good weeks now, (we have a wedding on 15th Dec), but I need to spend the day getting my head back in the game and planning my meals properly for the week.

@thenewaveragebear1983 considering how long you've been doing this way of eating and how much you've achieved so far, you probably shouldn't be too harsh on yourself for a few days of grazing. It's much easier to be really strict for 8 weeks. But after a few months and years we will have to be flexible but be mindful to reign back in if we are being too flexible! Enjoy the festive season.

Sad thanks, I know you’re right. I just know exactly how much damage I can do in a week or two of uncontrolled eating. I suppose it’s not the actual festivities I’m too concerned about, it’s just the mindless ‘oh it’s nearly Christmas so I might as well eat 2 mince pies and crack open the Baileys’ when it’s still November that worries me; that’s where the weigh goes on, not the one or two actual social events. My plan for actual Christmas events is to avoid the big 5 (rice, potatoes, grains, pasta, sugar) but allow everything else in moderation but it’s these mindless weekend food-feasts that will do the damage. And they’re totally unnecessary.

I’m still keeping on keeping on though, because I know when I do I feel better. It’s the ‘secondary’ BSD rules that I need to stick with, they’re what go by the wayside very quickly for me. So: planning meals, tracking everything, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, getting more leafy veg in, and cutting out those big 5 nasties. That’s my plan for the time being!

I hope everyone is having a good Monday.
They're great results sad. Definitely keep posting them. They'll motivate everyone!
Well, my run of parties, meals, evenings out continues. Luckily, I was so busy at our party yesterday that I didn't eat that much at all. I'm going out tonight to a lecture/talk but I'm driving so no potential for drinking wine at the bar which is probably just as well.
bear be kind to yourself. Weekends are always hard and you know there are always times we slip. At least now we can recognise them and stop them which is brilliant compared to pre-BSD.

All good here, nothing much to report, too much wine at weekend and I dug out some breadsticks and dips but otherwise BSD foods, I only have schloer in the fridge now and the plan is not to have a drink until Saturday evening.

Well done SadGuru, great start, I had to translate your post into inches and lbs Smile. Hope you have a great week.

Well done @SadGuru 👏🏽

My weekend was disastrous. At mother in laws so carb central plus she gets offended if you don't eat her food 🤦‍♀️

Back on it today and have closed the kitchen on 804 cals.

Not a good BSD weekend for me. It was my birthday and I used it as an excuse. I had pizza, bread and potato fritters and way too much wine and gin Blush.
I just need to make sure it doesnt continue for the rest of the week
