Thanks for your tips westwing. I feel much better today. It's third day of eating under 800cals and 50g of carbs. Today is not as bad as yesterday, at least I don't have a headache and I'm not as tired. And your lunch sounds delicious.
From I have been where you've been several times. I can't say I can deal with it any better and as an outside person I can suggest don't worry about what happened and beat yourself about it. That was in the past. Stay focused on the now and do what is necessary. Soon the past will be distant memorySmile

SadGuru · 13/11/2018 20:49

Sorry thanks to from for the tips. You can tell I'm new!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/11/2018 21:43

I haven’t calorie counted today but I reckon I’m very low on carbs, only a tiny bit of veg and a few butterbeans. 14k steps, no running today as I have an injury, but 45 mins circuit training.

I fell off a bit this week, but getting back on it now! Still lost a little bit of weight though just not as much as the first week, last week weight: 81.6kg, this weeks 81.2kg

fromnowhere · 14/11/2018 08:18

Had a good day yesterday, stuck to plan apart from a bit of dark chocolate, but weighed myself this morning and managed to maintain the initial weight loss from last week so v relieved.
At work today so much easier to stick to the plan, fingers crossed!

fromnowhere · 14/11/2018 15:03

I made a big batch of dhal yesterday, looking forward to having it later. Can anyone recommend something to have with it other than rice/bread? I'm dreaming of naan, but need to stay on plan today!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/11/2018 15:37

From you can have poppadoms if they are made from lentil flour (some have rice flour or potato starch), or chapati made from gram flour (I tried to make these myself once with very limited success unfortunately). Be mindful of the carbs though, because a lentil dhal with poppadoms could come to be quite carb heavy. Sounds amazing though!

I am really ‘wanty’ today- craving something doughy and soft not necessarily sweet. As a result gave grazed a bit today, not quite finding what I’m looking for. Dinner tonight is a fish and seafood mornay in a cheese sauce which I know is delicious, so I’m trying to hold out until then!

OP posts:
fromnowhere · 14/11/2018 17:12

I may have to forgo the poppadom then as I don't think I have any lentil flour ones Sad. Might just make a big side salad and try not to think about garlic naan....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/11/2018 17:53

Grrrrr, ate my delicious fish mornay, then ended up eating loads of chocolate bought for the dc, thus pushing my calories Mega high and carbs off the scale.

I’m really struggling being unable to run, it is making me very depressed. I am going to try tomorrow despite my sore foot as I really feel quite low today. The chocolate binge was almost inevitable, it’s been brewing all day.

Bit annoyed, went to 'friends' for lunch, just three of us, knows I am low carbing and served 2 cheese risotto with lots of Parmesan on the top. 'Friend' is a size 6 I kid you not. Apparently I am now too thin, blah, blah. Checked my waist today and it is a good 4 inches off my target. Boden size 10 is unwearably tight. I am not too thin. Oh well, I suspect I am well over my days target now, will have some crunchy steamed green veg for supper and try again tomorrow.

Bear is there another exercise you could do while your foot heals?

onanothertrain · 14/11/2018 20:06

Was doing really well up til 30mins ago. Pre menstrual so really wanted something sweet, managed to resist. Have just finished a bag of crisps. A sharing sized bag. That I didn't share.Blush No wonder I've got a fat arse Angry

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/11/2018 20:07

West I think your skinny friend may be a teeny bit jealous of your weightloss, no? Grin

There probably is another exercise I could do, I’m just currently wallowing in self pity and really what I should have done is sit and rest but instead I did loads of jobs and walked round town and generally Duracell bunnied my way through the day. I am my own worst enemy. I am at the dr tomorrow and hopefully they will refer me to a podiatrist or some other foot person?

4th day in a row I've stayed on track with calories and carbs. It's very early days but hopefully I'll stay on track, well mostly, for the full 8 weeks!
There is something different this time with my attitude. Food is no longer a priority and I'm not thinking of when my next meal is or what I'll be eating next. I'm just fully focused on my work and home responsibilities and am managing to get a lot done! Today for instance I'm not even feeling hungry and had to force myself to eat a bit at supper. And ordered pizza for the kids but wasn't tempted to take even a single bite. And all this despite being that time of the month. This a completely new thing for me and am baffled.

Saltmonster · 15/11/2018 03:39

Stayed to under 800 but now just scoffed a cheese toasty laden in cheese and butter, ffs. At 3;30 Hmm so annoyed with myself, wasn't even really hungry.

onanothertrain · 15/11/2018 07:08

salt that's the reason I no longer buy bread and only buy the little individual portions of cheese

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/11/2018 08:07

Amazing sad, that’s my favourite thing about this diet- that sudden clear calmness about food. It’s so liberating. Have another fab day today and send some of your focus my way please

Disastrous day yesterday, but feeling a bit more clear headed this morning. I’m due on which doesn’t help, although I do I think I sort of tell myself it’s that and give myself free rein to eat rubbish because I can’t help it. Determined not to do that today. Went for a quick run and foot wasn’t too painful so that’s helped too.

Today: loads to do, lots of steps. Lunch will be egg, avocado, bacon, and dinner will be steak and salad. Absolutely no reason why I can’t have an awesome day today!

Good luck everyone, today is going to be a good day. Had a headache last night so went to bed early and I think that's the only reason I didn't spend the evening bingeing. Was feeling pretty low and felt my resolve was non-existant. Going to try to start fresh every morning and leave behind any guilt about the previous day.

Got a busy day but am out for drinks with a friend tonight. is gin and tonic low carb?

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 15/11/2018 10:01

After I posted last time, I lost the thread (both literally and metaphorically!). I started back on BSD yesterday.
Depending on where I put the scales in our new house, my weight changes by 7lbs but tbh I think the higher number is probably correct.
I've really fallen off the BSD wagon this year and need to lose about 19lbs to get me back to where I was this time last year.

Hi place, welcome back. Good luck!

Saltmonster · 15/11/2018 14:47

I thought I didn't have any bread, but I found a random load buried in the freezer, lesson learnt! I have no self control lol! Have no double checked I have no tempting food hidden anywhere!

fromnowhere · 15/11/2018 17:13

I have two fussy kids and a husband who does not want to do this with me, so I have a house full of bread, pasta, potatoes etc. It's defo hard, but then I would always go out to buy stuff if I was having a real carb binge anyway so prob doesn't make much difference. Are some point in my life I have to learn to say no to myself when it comes to food Blush

SadGuru · 16/11/2018 08:22

I had a very busy day yesterday. I was at a conference all day and had to skip lunch as all the food served was carb heavy. I had 2 cups of coffee instead. Enjoyed the snack of spicy peanuts on the long drive back which took 3 hours for the 45 minute journey. Then had to attend a meeting at school for a school trip. Ended up skipping dinner too as I was more tired than hungry and went to bed!
So far I've lost 2.8 kg since starting BSD on Sunday. I'm really pleased and driven to see this through this time. I know it's early days with quick initial weight loss, but I'm determined to keep it going.

Westwing1 · 16/11/2018 08:37

That's a great start SadGuru!

From you will find it easier to resist the carbs. My DH is happy to eat BSD foods with me (doesn't stick to low calories) but I do cook pasta and pizza every week for the kids, also lots of croissants, crumpets and toast. At this point I never pick at their food, just got used to resisting and it's pretty easy now.

Weighed this morning and lost 1 lb this week. Fish and veg yesterday, fish and veg today!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2018 10:20

From what got me through it was not buying the things I like in the beginning (eg not my favourite cereal, or bread) We also put the kids on a puddings and biscuits ban during the week, which helped. They do have more now than before, but I haven’t bought a packet of biscuits this year! They have fruit only for desserts in the week and Sunday treat night where they have cake or sweets. They are little though, 6 and 3, and my dd 15 has her own stuff, one a day, and rations it herself. Because I know she keeps good tabs on it, I don’t pinch her stuff! I appreciate this doesn’t work for everyone!

I also find that planning my calories out exactly before each day really helps- psychologically if I am not sure how many I’ve had it seems easier to just have a bit more, whereas when I know my food takes me to 800/1000 i just don’t seem to pick as much. Also checking the calories and carbs before eating things- so knowing that toast is 120 cals for example- I find it holds me accountable and less in denial, and feels less binge-like.

Finally, make your own food amazing! Use recipe books and try new things, really go for it with your meals, and you’ll be less inclined to eat snacky bits.
