Welcome always, I agree with your whole post! I started buying the small pots of Greek yoghurt from Lidl, or Tesco (they are smaller so less cals) and I have mine with defrosted raspberries or cherries.

I think the danger with high fat/low carb food is that it is high calorie. I definitely eat the upper end of my tdee. Since I’ve been running my appetite has increased a lot, but I could out-eat my running easily. I definitely eat too much dairy, I think it’s the lactose and I crave it like sugar sometimes. I am generally on plan better when I cut out lactose as well.

@koko - I've just started so let's do this together

@thenewaveragebear1983 - your salad looked yum!

Alwayscheerful · 20/11/2018 19:54

Averagebear. I used to eat lots of fresh blueberries, grapes and raspberries but it was never just a handful I would finish the tub. Buying frozen Is a good idea, Hopefully I can defrost a few at a time.

luckylips · 20/11/2018 21:27

Annoyed with myself as I've ended on 1100 cals and it's down to shovelling in a couple of biscuits without thinking. Apart from that I've had a good day - milky coffee, handful of cashews, soup, chicken and halloumi salad, beef fajitas without wraps just a side salad.

Going to plan my menu for tomorrow now so I don't succumb tomorrow!

SadGuru · 20/11/2018 21:53

Lot of people joining in! Great for sharing and supporting. I have had an okay day. I skipped lunch as I had to work through my lunch break. I normally don't eat breakfast so I was hungry by tea time. Stuck to the diet and have finished the day on a very low 458 calories but carbs are slightly higher than what I've been having the last 10 days.
I have found bear's idea very helpful. At the start of the day, I log all the food I plan to eat on the day including coffee. Then I know how many calories spare I have or not in case I feel like snacking. This has kept me on track the last few days.
Also very motivating when clothes fit better and I'm bringing out my old smart clothes for work now.

luckylips · 20/11/2018 21:58

Well done @SadGuru!

SadGuru · 21/11/2018 07:05

Thank you @luckylips. I'm happy to report further loss. At the end of week one I didn't lose any weight for the last 2 days. But in first 3 days of week 2, I've lost 1kg. And I feel good! Not tired, no headaches or any other ill effects. Keep going girl!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2018 08:03

Some great initial losses, well done everyone..

Always frozen fruit is a lot cheaper too, plus doesn’t get eaten by the dc’s!

Today I’m really really really going to be good. Not try. Be. To be fair it’s all hormonal, but yesterday I ate a celebrations chocolate and a mince pie, on top of already having plenty cheese and yogurt. So today I’m planning a zero cheese day.

I've lost 7lbs this week. With some luck and some willpower, hopefully I'll get back to my ideal weight for Christmas.
bear sending you strength to resist cheese! Last night DS had a mini ice-cream and I desperately wanted one. Thankfully he'd eaten the last one or I would have succumbed.

Alwayscheerful · 21/11/2018 08:59

7lbs is really good. Are you calorie counting? How many carbs are you aiming for?

SadGuru · 21/11/2018 09:04

That's great loss @APlaceAtTheBSDTable. You are not too far off from your goal now. Great going!
@thenewaveragebear1983 yes you can do it!
On a slightly different note, how do you all decide on what your ideal weight should be? Is it BMI or some other calculation?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2018 09:10

Nice work place! Well done Star

Thought I’d share these as it’s nearly that time of year. BSD compatible advent calendars!

Sad for me it was a sort of trial and error thing. Originally I wanted to lose 2 stone, then just sort of carried on. For me I think I know I’ve found my ideal weight because this is where I seem to be stuck. I can maintain this weight within a few pounds pretty consistently. I have a very warped body image though from years of dieting and aspire for a probably unachievable level of skinniness considering how much food I like to eat! I never exercised before this tear and now I run a lot, and that has added a whole new dimension to my body shape which I’d never considered before as it has changed my overall shape dramatically.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 21/11/2018 10:19

Always yy I'm averaging 830 cals and 70.1g carbs each day. I did BSD consistently for about 2 years then had a fall at the start of this year that affected my mobility and threw my exercise/eating out of sync. I think I've lost so quickly this week because I ultimately know the BSD pattern that works for me ie 2 meals; no breakfast; having healthy snacks handy, etc.

My losses will probably slow down this week now I've lost my initial extra weight. Plus we have parties and meals out this weekend.

Thanks sad ! My ideal/target weight is about BMI and as bear says the weight my body sticks/maintains. I've been lighter than that weight but I looked gaunt and ill. It's a weight that puts me into an 8/10 clothes size whereas when I am completely an 8, I had concerned neighbours stopping me in the street.

fromnowhere · 21/11/2018 11:12

With regards ideal weight I just picked a number that puts me just inside the top end of the healthy weight range (BMI).
I could be more ambitious, but I'm trying to lose 20lbs as it is and I know from when I was younger that 11st puts me at a dress size 12 and I look healthy and happy.
I do have an exceedingly large chest which I believe skews my BMI slightly and also makes me look weirdly top heavy if my bottom half is too slim Grin

SadGuru · 21/11/2018 13:04

That's interesting to know how we all have our own number on scales that we are happy with. If I go with BMI I have just over 2kg to lose to reach the normal BMI range. But for my ethnic group, the upper limit of normal BMI is 23. So to reach that I need to to lose about 7kg. I think I'll do this for 8 weeks, see where I reach by the end and then take it from there. But more than reaching that weight what I'd like is to have an active lifestyle like @thenewaveragebear1983 mentions and stay at that weight with good eating and lifestyle habits.

Alwayscheerful · 21/11/2018 14:15

This thread is so helpful. I have taken on board several suggestions and I am now carefully weighing my strong cheddar, 25g seems to be about 100 calories , it doesn't look much but is quite enough if thinly sliced!

In an ideal world I would go shopping and only buy 800 calories x 7 days and make it last but I have to cook for DH and I like to host, temptation never goes away.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/11/2018 14:37

Just had my first taste of miso soup and for the record, I believe it will also be my last Envy

OP posts:
luckylips · 21/11/2018 20:44

I'm still ending over 800 cals but less than the 1200 needed to lose weight so not doing too badly.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 22/11/2018 10:44

Well, we've started our run of social events/birthdays etc and can report I had ice cream last night and birthday cake for breakfast. Blush The cake was good but so, so sweet.
Hopefully I'll be able to stay on track for the rest of the day because Fri and Sat we have nights with friends. Then Sun we have a party at our's.

I usually grab a pre-made salad or a soup Koko. Some of the bean/pasta salads are high carb so I tend to avoid those.

Westwing1 · 22/11/2018 13:26

Hi everyone, having a good week here, other than possibly too much cheese. Skipped breakfast and lunch today as not hungry but will have big fishy and veg early dinner. Haven't exercised this week, sheer laziness.

BMI works for me, I am a small boned rectangle with no waist, I was hoping to get a 28" waist but at this point I think my goal should be 30".

SadGuru · 22/11/2018 13:37

Hi all. I find grabbing a meal to suit BSD very difficult too. Waitrose on my way to work do an egg and spinach pot but I don't want to pay so much for it so don't buy. If I don't have time to make a packed lunch, I've just started skipping lunch.
Having said that today I've had a small amount of rice (just 2 tablespoons or so) with chicken curry at lunch that was being served at the conference. I'm feeling so full and lethargic now!
Back to no carbs again!
