I went a bit off plan yesterday. Was out most the day at an event with no low carb options so of course i used it as an excuse to have pizza and crisps not helped by the consumption of a few gins
End result was me being up most of the night with heartburn / trapped wind / gallstone type pain. So not worth it!! Wonder if I've learned my lesson Hmm

Westwing1 · 11/11/2018 18:58

Thanks From. Your weight goal by Christmas sounds very doable. Taking care of yourself is a great idea while doing this, I have a monthly pedicure and a haircut/trim every couple of months now (I was once a year and frankly scruffy). I don't wear makeup and not very girly girly but I think a hot shower and scrub with a mitt, shave legs and pretty feet can turn a day around and suddenly you make 'good choices' in the kitchen. Hope that's not too much information! I am so much happier now, don't dread invitations and wearing my navy shift dress every single time. Also getting the courage to clear out some clothes and start to declutter the house.

Westwing1 · 11/11/2018 19:02

Hope you feel better soon Onanother. Peppermint tea any good?

onanothertrain · 11/11/2018 20:30

Thanks west been drinking peppermint tea today and feeling better. Managed to do a jillian Michaels exercise DVD so that helped too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/11/2018 20:47

Closing the kitchen at 1600 cals which is rather a lot let’s be honest- although good for me recently, plus it’s all on plan and all meals. No snacks or grazing, or wine. 14k steps, ran 8km, 10 minutes rowing machine (bargain purchase from Facebook!) and feel ready to start the week and be strict!

I slipped a bit today, had a slice of birthday cake (not mine) and a few roast potatoes with dinner (trust me they were too amazing not to have some) but I was otherwise pretty good so trying not to feel bad.
This is usually where diets fail me. I have a bit of initial weight loss, feel good, and then start to 'treat' myself and before I know it I'm back to square one. I need to start fresh tomorrow and keep taking it one day at a time!

SadGuru · 12/11/2018 06:39

Hi. I realise you've been doing this for a long time. I'm new to this group, can join in please? I've tried this method a couple of times in the past. I know it works as I've had good results but I've never been able to stick to it beyond 2 or 3 weeks. All my excess weight on a petite frame is making me look huge and feel sluggish, tired and stopping me from having the kind of energy and life I want to have.
So I'm hoping joining in with like minded people will help me do the full 8 weeks. And you all seem a very friendly bunch tooSmile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/11/2018 06:39

From don’t beat yourself up over it. I do the whole ‘treats’ thing, and The only way I manage to keep to this long term is to tell myself/convince myself that they are not really treats. It doesn’t always work out like that, but I think deep down I know that they aren’t good for me and the feeling of losing weight is much better than the treats. It’s hard sometimes though, it’s a mind over matter thing.

And of course sadguru, welcome!

from exactly the same happens to me! Also yesterday slipped at a kids party and had birthday cake and a few chips & crisps. Paid for it this morning on the scales with a 1.2lb gain from yesterday taking my week 1 loss back down to 5lb. Not a bad loss but I’m so angry at myself.
Anyway W2D1 today. Have a good day everyone

Westwing1 · 12/11/2018 15:19

Another one confessing to two roast potatoes with Sunday lunch, they were delicious and I don't have them every Sunday. 30 mins on cross trainer today, coffee for breakfast and lunch, saving calories for big stir fry tonight. Haven't felt hungry today and in a very good mood post exercise.

Welcome SadGuru, hope joining helps you push through.

fromnowhere · 12/11/2018 15:25

Gone up 1/4 lb this morning for the first time since I started. Very disheartening. Back on it today, I need to stick with it.

Gone off strict bsd plan but think I have the gist of it now, so instead of only doing bsd recipes, I've had a brekkie of 2 scrambled eggs with a bit of smoked salmon, lunch was a baked salmon fillet with butter beans and houmous for lunch, and tonight's dinner is a coconut butternut squash soup that I've already made. Temptation to eat it with huge chunk of buttered bread is strong, but even more determined to see a loss on the scales this week! Wish me luck!!

Westwing1 · 12/11/2018 18:14

Wishing you luck From. Weekends are always tough and I think most people have a gain, 1/4 lb is nothing. I like the food you go for, we could be flat mates!

fromnowhere · 12/11/2018 19:43

Predictably I did crack and had some fresh tiger bread with butter to go with my soup Blush. Now I'm really struggling cos I'm hungry (prob cos I gave in to the carbs) and just about to go downstairs and have a massive carb binge. Perhaps I should boil an egg and eat that or something just to stave off the hunger. I hate this, I was doing so well! This shit is hard.....Sad

onanothertrain · 12/11/2018 19:44

Good day today, 26g carbs and less than 1000 calories.
Ooohhh roast potatoes 🤤 I'm definitely having one or two or six on Christmas day!!

fromnowhere · 12/11/2018 19:45

And welcome sadguru, sorry my posts haven't been very inspirational today!

NiceUnusualDifferent · 12/11/2018 19:48

from, you can do it!! Keep going, have a big glass of water then maybe have a bath? If I feel like that I try and do something like that or brush teeth/paint nails

SadGuru · 12/11/2018 19:59

Thank you bear and Westwing. I have done the starting weight and measurements. I came in at 62.4kg which puts my BMI at 27.73. As I'm only 5 feet tall, even a little extra weight make me look very big! I'm carrying most of the weight around my stomach unfortunately. I think I will weigh myself everyday for the next 8 weeks. That way it will remain a priority the whole time.
Today I've had just under 800 cals with 33g carbs. I have a headache now. I am hoping as I get used to the less calories the headache will disappear.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/11/2018 20:05

From my advice as an old time BSDer- if you’re really, properly hungry (by that I mean hungry, not ‘wanty’Smile) then have something. Go for low carb, high fat (cheese, Greek yogurt, oily fish). It’s better to do that than completely crack and hit the toast (or whatever your poison is!) 800 cals is low, and it can be miserable- but it’s not supposed to be a punishment. If you’re feeling really really hungry every day then maybe look at your overall diet and check you’re getting enough fat and enough fibre. If it’s just today, I’d allow myself a measured, on plan snack.

onanothertrain · 12/11/2018 20:06

sadguru I had a headache for the first few days too. Drink lots of water and try a bit salt on your food, it made me feel better.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/11/2018 20:10

I’m ending on 1300 cals, 46g carbs, 18k steps (5k run) but I am having a bag of Mr Porky scratchings once Ds goes to bed, taking me up to 1400 because I’m proper classy

Dinner was mega calories because we had sausages cooked in Italian tomato sauce and they were very high calorie sausages (bought on offer). I’ve packed in the veg today which has really kept me going and as a result I’ve not snacked today. Writing everything down before I eat it really helps keep me on track too.

SadGuru · 12/11/2018 21:21

Thanks train. After reading your post I realised I've had just one litre water today! Shall try and stay hydrated to see if I feel better. Good to know headache goes away after a few days.

fromnowhere · 13/11/2018 08:06

Well I truly fell of the waggon last night. Sorry bear I should have taken your advice. Ended up going to bed after three slices of bread and butter, a diet coke, a boiled egg and houmous, a chocolate coin and two maom sweets. Going to try not to fall into my usual bingeing cycle of shame and compound it further. Starting afresh today, even more aware that I have issues with food that are going to take a while to crack. I feel like getting back into bed, crying and eating shit all day, so i'm going to get out of the house instead and try to stay out all day. I can do this!

sadguru I was quite headachey on day 3&4, I found water helped, but also taking in some salt helped. I have a these little sachets of miso soup that you just add hot water to. Very low in calories and like having a cup of Bovril, it staves off hunger and is salty. You can add veg to make them into little soups if you prefer.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/11/2018 08:23

Ah from, we’ve all been there.

Busy day ahead today, I’m looking after my baby niece and Ds so a nice walk in the park I think. Lunch will be something eggy, dinner is a chicken and chorizo tray bake from Jamie Oliver’s book. I really enjoyed having more veg yesterday, made me realise I probably don’t eat enough ‘bulk’ some days, so will do that again today.

Hi everyone, boiled egg, toms, rocket and bean salad for lunch (tasted better than it sounds), 125 gr wild salmon and veg for dinner, glass of wine in hand as I am helping with algebra! Didn't get on treadmill but did a fast walk in beautiful countryside. Hope everyone is doing ok.
