Morning everyone. Yesterday did not end well. Some of the children’s Easter eggs may or may not have been eaten. That’s the first actual ‘binge’ or blow out I’ve had this year. Maybe I needed it to clear my head a little bit? In reality it’s not that many calories, but mentally it feels like a bit of a failure. The danger is continuing with it, coupled with a high calorie week, and not being able to rein it back in, especially as there’s still chocolate here in abundance and I don’t fully trust myself now.

Anyway- must go forward, not back! Run later today before lunch, then a light lunch/shake, then roast pork for dinner. I’ve done my menu and calorie counted it all in advance so I should be good to go!

It seems under control Bear - you know the cals etc - not terrible at all.

I am miffed as I had quite a good day yesterday - ok not perfect, but just had b/f and a late lunch under 1000 and fasted from 3.00 p apart from tea and coffee, but I gained Confused think it is probbly just one of those weighing scale fluctuations and fingers crossed better result tomorrow!

Oblomov18 · 08/04/2018 17:38

Why are eggs so many calories?
I had bacon and eggs and it seems to have used up tonnes of calories.

I'm getting fed up of logging meals with no carbs, and it being 180/200/330 calories etc.
I look at it and think, I'd rather have Oreo mini eggs!! AngrySad

Oblomov18 · 08/04/2018 17:40

I took a photo of my naked body, as I got out of the bath. I felt physically ill, I look that bad. I had no idea.

In clothes, a stone lighter, I look semi ok. I get dressed up for a party, I feel fine.

Naked? Its beyond vile.

Chocoholic686 · 08/04/2018 18:17

Quick question are carrots allowed? Thought I’d making a carrot & lentil soup but not sure if carrots are ok

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/04/2018 18:18

I always think that about chicken Oblomov so maybe it’s a poultry thing??? My tracker says 100g chicken breast is 195 cals, but an actual chicken breast is more than double that size (sometimes 225g!) and seems ridiculously high in calories! Seems like such a waste. I think of all those slimming world days when they used to say you could eat a whole chicken and think no wonder no-one lost any weight!

(And It’s a shame that you feel like that. I’m sure you don’t. Flowers)

I know how you feel @Oblomov18 - I feel like one of the Twirlywoos...A small round head on top of a vast bulk.

The monthly visitor appeared today. Total surprise even though i shouldnt be. Seems like the BSD has eliminated my PMT as well as a couple of kilos. Usually I feel mangled the 3 days before AF appears.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/04/2018 19:45

Oblomov Flowers I bet you look lovely - this is going to sound terrible but there used to be a program on channel 4/5 not sure, but anyway it was like naked blind date - it's a terrible idea for a program but actually quite good for a reality check of what normal un-airbrushed people look like - they were all people happy enough in their bodies to be naked on the TV but most of them had very normal bodies.

Anyway right now I would settle for looking good with my clothes ON!! Everything is too tight!!

Legend that is brilliant about your PMT.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/04/2018 20:23

Closing the kitchen after my first day back in the strict club!
1157 cals, 45g carbs. Currently on 19.8k steps so will likely hit 20k by bedtime, which included a 10k run. Thought I’d put all those carb stores to good use this morning!

It’s been tough though, the chocolate had been beckoning me and I’ve had to keep really busy (hence the steps!) to keep out of the kitchen.

OP posts:
veryveryquietly · 08/04/2018 20:24

Kitchen closed at 877 cals and (unbelievably) 26 gr carbs. Thank goodness for a good day, because the last two have been not so great.

And made it out for a longish brisk walk, which felt good. Wore my new, smaller size leggings too, which also felt good.

Did try another new recipe today, for roasted chicken thighs, and it was fine but desperately needed MORE SPICES. But now I have some protein for my next few lunches. Need to go in search of more recipes, I think. Anyone got any good portable lunch or easy dinner ideas? I'm getting in a bit of a slab o' lean protein + steamed or roasted veg rut.

DandelionAndBedrock · 08/04/2018 20:33

Can I join? Have signed up for the online program which has orientation starting tomorrow, and the proper diet a week later. Have been trying to lose weight properly since October - at my best I was 22lbs down, but some has gone back on. I manage 2 gym sessions a week, but aim for more. I'm fed up on doing two steps forwards and one step back. Oh, and I hate the MFP message saying they won't predict.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/04/2018 21:06

Of course, welcome dandelion!

Very I struggle with lunches too. I sometimes have portions of evening meals that I’ve frozen. I do tend to have salads though- I buy different dressings and add things like grilled halloumi , those flavoured chicken packs, or hard boiled eggs. Or I skip it entirely and have a shake at 11 and a snack at about 4 ish which is usually cheese based, or maybe hummus and veg sticks.

Choc you asked about carrots? You can have them but in moderation. The carbs in veg are ‘slowed down’ by the fibre in the skins, the fibre between the cells, and the effort it takes to eat them. So if you peel them, cook them and then blitz them into soup you’re pretty much removing all the things that make them okay, so I’d proceed with caution. You could leave them unpeeled I suppose, but would that spoil the taste of your soup? It’s a shame, because I love soup and veg soup is so satisfying and low calorie, but it is quite carby! I make a lentil and chicken (or any meat, ham or bacon is lovely with lentils) soup which is really tasty and filling.

By the way, for those of you who are a couple of weeks or so into this program, are you doing the mindfulness MM recommends?

It's slipped my mind but I'm just wondering if anyone is actually doing what the book says to the letter, ie the prescribed exercises inc the HIT training too.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/04/2018 22:25

Welcome Dandelion!

Legend - I don't do the mindfulness but have read so many positive things that make me think I really should give it a go.
I do exercise - not exactly HIIT like prescribed in the books but at the mo I am doing a weights dvd and also trying to add in some insanity max 30 workouts which are really intense so I end up very sweaty very quickly!

Chocoholic686 · 08/04/2018 22:27

Well that’s day 2 done and I’m honestly surprised at how much energy I’ve had! Yesterday I struggled a bit with chocolate cravings but just kept myself busy but today I haven’t been too bad. I’m just hoping I’m the same tomorrow when I’m at work, I always tend to feel more hungry when I’m in work. No idea why!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/04/2018 08:55

Morning all. I’m holding myself accountable for my sins of last week- have weighed in this morning at 11.3 which is 2.5 above my lowest and equates to a small gain last week. I actually think I got off lightly, and the lasting hangover of wanting carbs (woke up this morning absolutely starving!) is likely to be more of a hassle than the few pounds.

Legend I have never done the mindfulness exercises, and every time I read the book I remember that I never do them! I think it’s because I just never get the quiet time to do it- although there is an app called headspace which is apparently good. Just listen through headphones for 10 minutes or so. Maybe I will try it. Same with the hiit training- I have done interval training while running, but not specifically hiit training. I was doing 30day shred for a while but haven’t done for a few weeks. I’m not running today as I did a long one yesterday, so I will look on YouTube for some sort of hiit workout.

My day looks pretty chilled- going to town to the library and a mooch round the shops to spend Easter money (not mine unfortunately!), few jobs. dinner is chicken stuffed with black pepper Boursin and wrapped in bacon.

Hope you all have a good week!

Urgh, the kitchen re-opened last night, and there was late-night snacking. Ugh. Need to get a handle on this. Work stress is not helping: I did great until about 9:30 pm, then I was worrying about work today and... Granted, even with snacks I was still well still under my TDEE, but that's not the point.

Have ordered lots more exciting herbal teas for my next grocery delivery, in hopes that will help.

XRayYankee · 09/04/2018 09:58

very don't beat yourself up about it, today is another day.

We've all been there!

TheLegendOfBeans · 09/04/2018 10:00

Day 7 now and I AM HUNGRY.

I'm not sufficiently clued up on human biology to fully understand the changes happening but I am dreaming of almond croissants.

Crabcakes for dinner through. Excited already x

AromaticSpices · 09/04/2018 11:47

Dinner at an indian restaurant last night (yes, two days after our indian takeaway haha) and stuck to tandoori chicken, chick pea curry, lamb dhansak and a poppadom. All on plan. Drank two pints of water. Haven't logged it on MFP as i couldnt really be bothered but I'm sure it was within my calories for the day. Will try and retrospectively log it today.

For lunch today I have roast turkey slices and a green salad with edamame beans and some other bits, from m&s. Another loss on the scale this morning! Takes me to 6lb down since Wednesday last week.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 09/04/2018 15:32

I've fallen completely off the BSD-wagon. I'm the worst I have been since starting this 2 years ago. I've had easter eggs, chips, burgers, crisps, etc. And unless I actually put the rest of the easter eggs in the bin, I'm probably going to eat them too. I'll WI tomorrow and then decide whether I'm writing this week off and starting BSD again when DS goes back to school or trying to start it tomorrow. tbh delaying until next week is likely to win out.

veryveryquietly · 09/04/2018 19:09

Thanks, xray, am back on plan today and feeling better. It happens, but it's just a few days' glitch. Have had a filling dinner and still have a little calorie room for a treat so hopefully that will satiate cravings.

legend enjoy those crabcakes. Are they from the BSD book?

place after 2 years a break is well deserved, and in school holidays it's well nigh impossible to stick to BSD if you do any days out with the kids. We're here when you're ready to dive back in.

And oblomov everyone is kind of wobbly and ungainly just getting out of the bath! Plus drippy and red-faced and frizzy-haired - or at least I am. It's rarely the best look for anyone.

houseRefurb · 09/04/2018 19:32

Aromatic, thats an impressive loss, 6lbs in 5 days?!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/04/2018 20:06

Nice one aromatic that’s a great loss!

Place I know how you feel and totally recognise that weighing up of when to restart. How has it gone today?

I’m closing the kitchen on 880 cals, 24g carbs and about 10k steps. No run today, in fact very little of anything today! It’s the first rest day I have had where I haven’t been starving all day- I tried to combat it by having 3 ‘meals’ and it seems to have helped. I put that in inverted commas because 1 meal was a shake, and the other was 100g leftover pulled pork from last night- so neither were actually proper meals. I can tell the carbs have been low in comparison to recent days because I’ve had that stuffy headache all day, (probably detoxing from excessive chocolate consumption last week!). Hopefully that will be gone tomorrow.

My dinner was really tasty, just chicken stuffed with black pepper Boursin (food of the gods if you’ve not tried it!) and wrapped in bacon, with a portion of broccoli cheese on the side which I found in the freezer.

bear your food photos always look lovely.
Today has been meh. I had frittata for brunch then beef curry for dinner - all BSD-friendly.

But I also had some coconut cake that I'd made for DH and a bit of easter egg. My calories are about 900 but my carbs are over 70g and tbh I don't feel like I have stopped eating for the day although I probably should Blush
