Jiggly hope your ds feels better and the household is brighter tomorrow, much the same here but no one actually ill, just a bit bleurgh!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/01/2018 18:02

Yeah, I will try. I am not going to worry too much about it, just planned a nice 800 calories day for tomorrow and giving myself a night off. I think I’m just a bit worried that I’ll fall off the wagon big time into a plate of biscuits and never recover!

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 20/01/2018 21:19

Jiggly I hope mini-Jiggly feels better soon.
I decided against the party we were supposed to be attending because DH wasn't feeling up to it and I didn't think it was fair to leave him to cope with a stir-crazy 8-year-old whilst I swanned off alone.
I'm so restless I've tidied the kitchen cupboards and started to re-arrange the utility room Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 20/01/2018 23:37

Aplace I am very impressed, I badly need a kitchen sort out, great way to occupy yourself too!

I have drank a fair amount of wine today myself, and eaten loads today, I can't seem to face dieting at the moment so going to concentrate on eating better for a bit. I did at least stop drinking at a point where I could have had one more so don't feel too awful!

ICJump · 21/01/2018 01:40

Great to see the celebration of health wins.

I’ve had two delicious meals today
Breakfast oats, chia seeds, lineseeds, sunflower seeds, yoghurt and half an apple. It was delicious and filling and took ages to eat

Lunch was gazpacho. Three toms, cucumber, red pepper, garlic, paprika, pepper and veggie salt. I made it in a pestle and mortar so it takes a fair bit of effort but it’s much nicer than when I make it in a blender.

veryveryquietly · 21/01/2018 11:53

Well, now things have gone loopy - I've plateaued since hitting the wonderful 1 stone down, in fact scale has hovered around the same number for 3 days now, despite doing absolutely nothing differently and staying on plan. I'm ignoring it and know it will pass.

Despite no scale movement, I am noticing that my undies feel substantially roomier :) And I just had some wonderful fresh cherries (my fave) with my yogurt (yummy) and a tsp of flaxseed (less yummy but not bad and I am now paranoid about keeping things on the go).

Sorry about ill mini jiggly. Bear, hope your evening off was ok and you're not feeling the aftereffects too much. And hope all are coping with the weird weather (it just snowed for a while here, though it didn't stick) and the seemingly relentless dark.

IC, could you share the quantities for your gazpacho? Sounds delish.

bridgetreilly · 21/01/2018 13:39

Very, I had a week where it felt like nothing was happening, and then suddenly lost 3lbs in a day. I think that it's normal to have plateaus like that. Just keep persevering and suddenly your body snaps back into losing weight mode.

On which note, I have lost a stone in 2 weeks! Super happy with that. My thin jeans now fit and my fat jeans need a new belt to stop them falling off.

veryveryquietly · 21/01/2018 13:54

Good to hear it's likely a blip, bridget - and CONGRATS on a stone in two weeks! Yay for the need for new belt! that's terrific.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2018 16:19

It’s sometimes referred to as a ‘whoosh’ on this plan- mini plateaus and then overnight you lose a few pounds. There’s conflicting evidence and theory about starvation mode and mosely says it doesn’t occur, but I am sure that when I do a few days at 800 my body sort of rebels and I’ll often plateau. It’s one of the reasons I’m not weighing myself too often this time.

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 21/01/2018 18:13

bridget well done on your losses!
very you may be losing inches instead of weight. Most of us have experienced that on BSD.
I've been busy today so haven't had time to snack but did have time for a snowball fight - I wonder how many calories that burns Wink

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2018 19:28

Well today has not exactly gone to plan, I feel very tired and generally ‘meh’ and it’s taken it’s toll on my willpower! Nothing too terrible, just too much food. I thought I’d give my knee a rest so I haven’t run this weekend either, so I’ll likely not have lost anything when I weigh in. But that’s ok- marathon not a sprint and all that......

My average calorie count this week is 1300, so still way above 800 but well under my tdee. I’m just about to plan my menu for the week, and write my shopping list. I think it’s going to be a back to basics week again, I have found myself slipping back into old habits the last few days. Also ate out about 4 times last week with lots of social things- hopefully this week will be quieter and more home based (in fact, it will be, as Ds and I are potty training!)

Great losses on here though, it’s very inspiring. What would I give to lose a stone in a week.......!!!! I am going to channel that to motivate me!

ICJump · 21/01/2018 20:00

Very I used three skinned tomatoes, about a cup of peeled deseeded cucumber, 1 skinned red pepper, 1/2 garlic clove ( but I’m goung to go to a quarter) then paprika, veggie salt (veggie stock powder) and pepper. All smashed together in mortar and pestle. I popped it back in the fridge and added ice cubes yesterday as it was 39 degrees here

veryveryquietly · 21/01/2018 22:23

Thanks for gazpacho recipe IC. Sounds delicious and will keep it on hand for the very first day the temp goes over 15 here :)

Sorry to hear you're having a meh weekend Bear. Your activity levels have been amazing though, and I'm sure the process will pick up soon.

veryveryquietly · 22/01/2018 08:53

Thanks all for the reassurance - scale moved today. Now to get myself really moving on this dismal morning. (More coffee!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2018 09:32

Sneaked a peek at the scales this morning and I have paid the penance for my weekend off. Not good, but deserved I guess. So starting the week still in the 12’s!

The only way out is through, so I shall power on. Supermarket this morning, run this afternoon, lots of water. And I’m hiding the scales this week as I’m due on and that never helps my weight!

Have a great week everyone!

Me again! Went to Aldi this morning and picked up some good BSD friendly things to try;

Maca powder to add to my shakes- it’s high in fibre (about 35% fibre) although I’m not exactly sure what it is, but I added a tsp to my shake and it didn’t detract anything from its flavour so I might use it regularly to boost up my fibre intake.

Also, some spaghetti made with edamame beans. 50g (dry weight) serving has 165 cals but only 6g carbs. I’m going to try it tonight with prawns and pesto.

They do a ‘paleo’ range but I would advise to read the labels as a lot of the items actually have honey/molasses in them as these are allowed on paleo plans.

They’ve also got lots of workout gear in their aisle of smiles, dumbbells and kettlebells etc, plus I got a sports bra for £6!!

Good Aldi tips bear
I'm tired and hangry. I have about 450 calories left for dinner but haven't decided what to make yet. I feel like having a night of pizza, popcorn and a movie but will probably opt for chicken, salad and VAT returns instead Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2018 17:15

VAT returns? They’re low carb, right?!

You could compromise with pizza topped chicken?

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/01/2018 19:17

Ending the day on 862 cals, 37g carbs (20 grams fibre!). I’ve done 15k steps including a 5k run.

The edamame pasta was absolutely yummy, anyone missing proper pasta should try it. The 50g portion was loads as well, probably 30g would be sufficient and would reduce the cals/carbs even more.

Oh thst looks tasty bear. We can get a chickpea pasta here and it’s nice to have pasta and something rather just the something.

Didn’t have a great day stomach wise yesterday do over ate and have put on 200 g. I think it might be too much dairy as I realised about 1/3 of my calories are coming from dairy.
So I’ve allocated myself 3/4 cup of milk rather than 1 cup (in a little jug). Plus swapped yoghurt breaky for green and baked beans.

veryveryquietly · 23/01/2018 07:47

Mmmm, will seek out the edamame pasta in my Aldi.

Yesterday ended up being a bit over (900 cal) but did at least manage to prep lunch for next two days before falling asleep.

Scale is dancing and not moving much (damnit) this week, despite mini-whoosh at weekend. I guess this is my payback for a massive loss last week...body still trying to figure out what is going on and hanging on to what it's got. Probably my body is asking "where did all the wine go?" Perhaps I need to fully depickle myself before I can lose anymore? :)

Have picked out a nice incentive gift for myself - a Jo Malone candle - if I hit the 4 week mark sticking to this. 8 days to go!

Hope the VAT returns were tasty, Table. Not the pizza base I would choose, but to each her own.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 23/01/2018 10:02

bear I'd had pretend pizza for lunch yesterday so opted for cauliflower soup followed by steak salad for dinner. The edamame pasta sounds good. I might pick some up today. (Although I always confuse Aldi and Lidl so will need to check where our nearest Aldi is).
IC it's interesting you're cutting back dairy. Usually I don't have much dairy at all but the last few days, I've wanted lots of cheese and cream. I was wondering if it was weather-related - a primal need for lots of fat when it's snowy and dark.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/01/2018 12:25

I’ve noticed as well that I actually crave dairy in the same way I crave actual sugar. I think too much lactose does crazy things to me!

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 23/01/2018 12:56

bear that's interesting. Perhaps that's what's happening. I've been having little bits of cheese with every meal for the last two days and yet I can usually go weeks without any.

Loubilou09 · 23/01/2018 13:19

Hi all, I am going to join you if that's okay! Lost 37lbs last year by calorie counting and have tried that again and I just keep eating far too much and am constantly hungry. I have low carbed before and thought it was brilliant once I got in the zone. I have 8 weeks and 2 days before I go on a fantastic holiday and I really don't want to feel this dumpy.

8 weeks is no time at all, I am sure I can manage this for 8 weeks....

Today I will have:-

Chickent strips - 140 cals
Lunch - chicken and vegetable soup - 228 cals
Chicken & Courgetti and creamy sauce - 233 cals
2 boiled eggs for snack - 145
Almond Milk - 20 cals
Soya Milk - 60 cals

Total = 826 cals

I AM GOING TO DO THIS!
