Week3 r1 completed. I even enjoyed it. Oh no - think I am hooked.

Well done to everyone else. Am glad it's not so hot for it now.

Hope all well with you and your son, MABS

Loujalou · 10/08/2010 19:05

I want the rain to stop so I can go running. Might go any way. That is sad x

FiByTheIcySea · 13/08/2010 10:26

not made it out for my wk6run3 yet.. bit behind schedule due to ds's birthday this wk and all the prep that goes with.. been rotten weather here too. need to get out over next few days i think.

Loujalou · 13/08/2010 11:29

Have done week 2 day 1 and found 90 seconds much harder than 60. Not sure how people can run 5k after 9 weeks but will keep plodding through.

Also, used Run Keeper ap on android which measured speed and how far I have gone!

sybilfaulty · 13/08/2010 14:24

Well done Louja - I have found the first one of any of the new bits quite hard but I seem to feel better by runs 2 and 3.

Am off to Devon tomorrow and taking my running stuff with me. About to download week 4 of Robert to come with me.

Fi - I know what you mean about slotting things in. I am going to try to keep going once I get back to work in Sept but can't really work out where the hours are going to come from. Oh well, I;ll try to sort something out.

notanidea · 15/08/2010 17:24

Sorry not been on mumsnet and run for sometime either due to either my or DH work commitments. Hope to resume the week 8 run 3 at some point. Nice to see so many of you are still around and running....

FiByTheIcySea · 15/08/2010 23:34

I've not been on laptop or phone either.. weather has been dire and RL very busy.. wrt ds's birthday & my dad has got pneumonia again but hopefully now on the mend. hoping to get out tomorrow sometime.. fingers crossed!

LauraNorder · 17/08/2010 22:22

Hello - have been recommended this thread. Have never been a runner, would really like to start but need some help Smile

Shaz10 · 17/08/2010 22:23

I am watching this thread as I am planning on doing this. Have downloaded the podcasts and am buying my trainers tomorrow. Although I have done something to my back :( so will see what the osteo does later this week before I get going!

N4NNY · 18/08/2010 07:55

I did my second 60 min run last night it went well though a little slower then my first one. This morning I am suffering though my knee and ankles are very painful. Not going to let it put me off hopefully my run Thursday will be better.

Loujalou · 18/08/2010 13:25

Week 2 is now finished. Bit scared of week 3 as 3 mins seems a long time to run but hey we will see.

tiredemma · 18/08/2010 16:21

Hi everyone- just thought i would pop in again. Regularly running 5k now (approx 2/3 x a week). Its getting easier each time- would never ever have thought I could so this.

I started with the hope of losing weight and getting fit. I have now incorporated 'interval Training' into my 'regime' and bloody hell, you can really tell the difference.

Good luck everyone- stick at it.

Buzzybb · 18/08/2010 21:28

May I ask a question/get some advice plse.
I have complete week one twice as I wanted to get used to the program and last week moved on to week 2. I usually go out in the morning but this week I went in the evening and it was awful I really suffered to the point I was nearly sick tonight, I even made sure I did not eat for the 1.5 hrs before I went out.
Would I be better off going back to week 1 or 2 for another week rather then moving onto week 3 ? I got through half of it tonight and then had to walk the rest of the program
Please advise and tell me it will get better motivate me I really want to do this

kiwibella · 18/08/2010 22:43

this thread has dropped off my list! I'm still having a go at week three. I found it ok Lou - there are only two long runs on this session but I got very disheartened the first time I ran this podcast because his voice comes on during the second three minute run except it's only to tell you that you still have a minute to go. I was so disappointed!! It's taking me about two weeks on each week because I can't manage to get out regularly with the kids about.

Because of this I vary the times that I can run - tho I won't run in the middle of the day. Buzzybb, it's interesting that you felt ill after your run. I am more comfortable running later in the day HOWEVER I feel more motivated for the day if I run in the morning. It's strange, isn't it!

nobiggy · 18/08/2010 23:06

I'm continuing week 4 runs, the 3 mins and 5 mins, because have you seen week 5? There's a 20 minute run in there for goodness sake!

Mornings work for me. Evenings too busy with feeding people and kid wrangling.

Buzzybb · 18/08/2010 23:06

Kiwibella I also prefer to go in the morning I feel I have more energy for the day, I am wondering if I felt ill because I had eaten during the day, I have digestive issues it is slow so maybe that is it. I usually have an oat and fruit smoothie in the morning and go out then that may be it, will do week 2 again I think esp as that last 90 sec run was so awful.
Good to know some one else feels better for going out early at least now I say it is not just me

kiwibella · 18/08/2010 23:47

ow, nobiggy - I felt like that about three minutes coming in to week three. Now I'm panicking about week four since you mention there is a five minute run!!!! As for 20 mins Shock!!!

kiwibella · 18/08/2010 23:48

buzzybb... I don't feel good running in the morning but I do feel better afterwards!! I can't move without eating and I can't run with a full tum. It is all so hard to co-ordinate (or maybe make excuses for) Wink.

nobiggy · 19/08/2010 00:43

I haven't decided if I'm better eating before a run or waiting until after. I don't drink enough, I know that.

Week 4 is 3, 5, 3, 5. I was Shock at the idea, but I've done 4 now, not getting easier, but getting a little faster.

20 minutes though.

Shock
Nettiespagetti · 19/08/2010 00:59

Just wanted to mark my place. You are all doing brill. I started ages ago and managed 4 mins. Did some more yesterday and managed 6m my hips are screaming today. Hoping to try again soon.

MABS · 20/08/2010 07:54

apologies for my silence, I was in a car accident early last week so now won't be able to do anything for 6-8 weeks :(

Shaz10 · 20/08/2010 07:59

So sorry to hear that MABS. You feeling ok?

MABS · 20/08/2010 11:33

i ok except for cracked sternum and 2 ribs :(

FiByTheIcySea · 21/08/2010 00:39

MABS oh no! :( poor you. i hope you're not in too much pain and the bones heal quickly.

sorry everyone i've not been around much. waveshello to all Grin
my dad is on the mend and ds's birthday all over for another year. weather still awful here, fgs this is supposed to be august! where has the summer gone?

I'm about to start wk7.. a bit late. Completed wk6run3 yesterday eve.. the 25min one!!! in the pouring rain wearing dh's breatheable rain jacket. I can only run in the evenings as dh is away to work before 6am & have to wait for him to be home to look after dc's. I am stunned that i ran for 25min (albeit slowly).. 7wks ago i totally struggled with 60secs.

wk4 was a really tough one for me but after that it started to feel less hard even though the running times increase.. so go for it everyone.. you'll surprise yourselves Grin

food n eating wise i have just carried on as normal.. didn't know it might cause any problems! dh & i eat dinner early with the kids at about 5/5.30pm. dd usually asleep first & i'm still bf which has helped the weightloss I think. DS has only just turned 4yrs, is a very early riser so by 7.30pm he's more than happy to head to bed! I head out for my run when they're both tucked up and fast asleep. I do make sure to drink plenty of water though as don't want to get dehydrated because of bf.

nobiggy · 21/08/2010 09:21

MABS that's awful! What happened?

FiByTheIcySea glad your dad's getting better, I have a couple of cousins who seem to get pneumonia every couple of years.

Did w5r1 this morning. And I think I'll stick with r1 for a little while Grin. It seems hard, but when I think back to w1 and w2, I'm doing it ladies, I'm doing it!

Slow still, but above 4mph throughout. Covered about 1.1 miles over the three runs.

Off out for the day now, next run on Monday, all being well.
