well done to you all. More hospital appts today, but i dis hour p/training first.

nobiggy · 05/08/2010 17:43

Go Loujalou!

2nd run of week 3 today, didn't feel as good as Monday, but when I checked the timings seemed I went off a bit quicker, so maybe that accounts for it.

Loujalou · 05/08/2010 17:53

I did it! Made my first move. Only problem is I am going to need some more sports bras.

Got through it ok but not sure if I will ever get to the end but we have all got to start somewhere.

PS newbie question - what do you do with keys and where do you all put your ipods?

FiByTheIcySea · 05/08/2010 18:58

well done! loujalou i too had to get a major support sports bra and have this one it's doing the job fantastically and lucky as it was my only option due to huge J cup norks! I'm using my phone for playing my robert podcasts and have a nike armband that was meant for a normal ipod. It just about fits and has been comfy to wear. Luckily i don't need to take keys as i run in the evenings when DH is back to look after the dc's. If i do need to run & lock the place up n take my keys (like this weekend when DH is away with DS visiting his mum & i'm home with DD... who'll have to accompany me in her pram while i run my next 2 runs.. and will have to switch to days) I have a small zippy pocket for keys in the back of the waistband of my running capri thingys but will probably just bung them in the foot muff of the pram seeing as it's there!

sybilfaulty · 05/08/2010 19:22

Loujalou, I am also huge of bosom and I have a Shock Absorber level 4 bra. There is a tiny bit of movement but no bounce and it's very comfortable, even though it's tight. I am actually using my swimming ipod as it's smaller (about the size of a matchbox) and I just stuff it down my sports bra. There isn't much room with the boobs jostling for position in there but it's OK. Keys - I put mine in a plastic bag and hide them under a neighbour's bin. I have lots on the fob though, otherwise I'd just carry them.

Am off out now and then week 2 run3 in the am. Am quite looking forward to it, even though I am as slow as a snail!!

MABS · 05/08/2010 20:37

32f here too. another vote for shock absorbers!

wohmum · 05/08/2010 21:43

Well done Loubajou. The first step is the hardest.
'Waves' at Fi. - how is week 6 going for you? I found day 1 harder tha. I expected, but managed day 2 ok this morning.

I feel, just as doubtful about running for 25 mins as I did last week, but roll on Saturday!

kiwibella · 06/08/2010 09:56

I will go today!! Week 3, here I come Grin.

It is a palaver with all the bits to juggle. I usually run when someone is here to watch dd2 but if I have to take keys I only take the front door key and thread it on to the earphones. I tuck this and my ipod in to the elastic of my trou and grasp my phone tightly in my hand. I'm a woss and wouldn't go anywhere without it - altho I have no idea what I would do if I really needed to use it to call for help!!!

Loujalou · 06/08/2010 09:58

I detached on key and put it in my bra! It was fun trying to dig it out. might buy one of those arm band things for ipod from ebay. They are only a couple of quid.

kiwibella · 06/08/2010 17:00

lou - I've also seen them in the pound shop!

MABS · 07/08/2010 09:43

i have an arm thing for all my bits.will run today, am tired and hungover tho, so not expecting much!

sybilfaulty · 07/08/2010 09:55

MABS, I was too tired and hungover to go yesterday so am about to go now. It's got quite late though so the chances of me bumping into someone I know are quite high. Oh well. At least I am trying to change my lardy bod.

Will report back shortly Smile

nobiggy · 07/08/2010 10:37

W3R3. I think I'll go on to week 4 next week.

Actually, just had a look and that's a 5 minute run!

Maybe not...

FiByTheIcySea · 07/08/2010 10:47

dh and ds are away atm and no baby sitters so.. back from doing my wk6run2 pushing dd in the pram but it was pouring rain when we set off.. signs I might be getting addicted to running?? Errr maybe?! :-D

sybilfaulty · 07/08/2010 10:58

Well done Fi and Nobiggy. Great stuff. Am impressed by buggy dedication. Nobiggy, I think Wk4 is beckoning. You can always move back and you might surprise yourself.

Bumped into 3 friends, and got a bit of abuse from 2 old chaps - not abuse so much as "encouragement" in a very sarcastic way. Hm.

FiByTheIcySea · 07/08/2010 11:53

nobiggy go on just give it a go.. wk 4 for me was hard but i really surprised myself in managing it with sheer determination.. i was then dreading wk5 after finding wk4 so hard.. well wk5 was surprisingly a lot better even with the length of run times. go on give it a go.. you can always go back to wk3 if you need to :-D
sybilfaulty i felt quite self conscious running with the pram.. but now i've done it once i think it won't be so bad next time. the pram is BRIGHT yellow and black which doesn't help! those old guys were just jealous glad you didn't get put off.. well done. i haven't so far bumped into any friends but have passed acquaintances who just wave and point or thumbs up and smile..

nobiggy · 07/08/2010 13:58

I'll try on Monday. I really haven't felt like it the last few days, but had tolerable results. We're going away on Wednesday, I'll see if I can sneak a run in early that morning. Fighting it out with DP as to who gets to leave the house - he's training for a half marathon next month, which he intends to finish in under 1.5 hours.

MABS · 08/08/2010 08:15

oh dear, 10 mins ysdty and then i felt sick so thought i better give up :(

Loujalou · 08/08/2010 10:45

Week 1 day 2 - done! Might be getting addicted.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/08/2010 11:32

MABS i'm sure you'll be fine when not hung over dehydration is a nightmare. good on u for trying though i wouldn't have been so dedicated! how are you feeling today?

orangehead · 08/08/2010 11:45

Im on the last week and doing my first 5k next sunday. Its a brilliant programme which does work. The first week I really struggled to run 60 secsans cant believe I can now run 30 mins. It took me a few weeks longer due to a fall which hurt my back and then a chest infetion. Facebook has a page for the program, although it can be a bit over the top sometimes it does help keep you motivated. I dont have a ipod or iphone so I just looked at the program before I went and then used my mobile to time the intervals. I would highly recommend getting propery fitted running shoes from a speacialist shop. Happy running

MABS · 08/08/2010 12:56

thanks Icysea, much better today so ran 30mins. going on hols thurs tho, so all will be on hold for a week.

nobiggy · 09/08/2010 20:32

Did week 4 run 1 today. Very slow and cautious, but did the two 5 minute runs.

FiByTheIcySea · 09/08/2010 21:09

well done! nobiggy don't think speed matters

FiByTheIcySea · 09/08/2010 21:12

orangehead did you do your 5K? congratulations on getting to your final wk!
