each of us will be out tomorrow! The skies will be colourful with all our radience .

nobiggy... make sure you get out tomorrow - even if you don't feel like it. It may be difficult but you know how amazing you feel afterwards.

I have trouble making time without kids and missed Saturday till Weds. It was so hard to start again... and took until the fifth run to feel comfortable and then it took everything to achieve the sixth!!! I'm inspired to go early tomorrow - once hubs has headed off to work and hopefully before youngest wakes. Fingers crossed .

MABS... hope all is ok?

N4NNY · 29/07/2010 20:20

I'm hoping to run tomorrow as long as i'm not too tired after a day with the kids. I'm on wk4 day2 of 10k i'm have 3 x 18 min runs with a 1 min walk inbetween still amazed after each run that i can do it

MABS · 30/07/2010 17:22

ran 25 mins today but only on a treadmill, that not so good is it?

(sadly it is pretty serious with ds, thanks for your kind words, he has a majot op in Sept)

sybilfaulty · 30/07/2010 19:49

Oh MABS, I am sorry to hear about your son. Hope he (and you of course) are bearing up. I think 25 mins of any sort of running is fabulous. Well done you. Hope you find it therapeutic. I find swimming a good release for tension etc - is running the same for you?

I did wk 1 r3 today at 7am and am now feeling much better about it. Way to go, as Robert said. Just 8 more weeks to go. I wonder if I'll ever be able to run for a reasonable amount of time.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

FiByTheIcySea · 30/07/2010 20:18

MABS to hear about your DS will keep everything crossed for the op. I think 25mins on the treadmill is great!

i'm just back from the run I should have done last sun.. my wk5run3. My 1st ever 20min run great i managed it but excuse me while I collapse on the couch.. i may not get up for the rest of tonight!
FiByTheIcySea · 30/07/2010 21:55

well done sybilfaulty wk1 finished i'm finding time flying by every wk!

TheNextMrsDepp · 31/07/2010 00:19

Well done Fi, that's the big one ticked off! How are you feeling now?

I've had to ease off a little because of my chuffing knee ; I've managed a couple of 20 minute runs this week, I know I should be resting the knee more, but I'm ADDICTED!! It starts to hurt after I've been running for a while, but I'm icing it as soon as I get home and taking a Nurofen and the pain goes away pretty quickly. But it's just so FRUSTRATING as I'm having to stop before I really want to!

Anyway, I'm off on holiday next Friday so it will get plenty of rest (on a sunlounger, hopefully).

Well done all of you.

FiByTheIcySea · 31/07/2010 10:25

nextmrsdepp thankfully my legs aren't nearly as bad as i'd expected this morning.. amazingly just a tiny bit stiff. they were very wobbly last night though! I don't think i could run through your pain though.. you're made of strong stuff!

wohmum · 31/07/2010 13:04

Congrats Fi!

I did week 5 run 3 this morning, same as you, Didn't think I'd manage it, but somehow got through. I nearly didn't go 'cos it was raining, but it probably made it easier.

Legs feeling definitely wobbly atm, but so chuffed to have made it.

FiByTheIcySea · 31/07/2010 16:42

wohmum yay well done! ikwym about somehow making it through :-) i'm planning to start wk 6 on monday.

MABS · 01/08/2010 08:47

thanks all, well done to you all!

Raffiiscool · 01/08/2010 19:56

Hiya all.

I am on week 8 at the moment. I am amazed how well the programme works. I couldn't run at all 2 months ago. I use mapmyrun.com as well which is fab for getting an accurate distance for your run. I'm currently at 2.5miles which was something I could only dream about. Found that once I cracked the 20mins that the rest was ok. Been out 4 times this week and feeling great for it!

I used Ullrey up to week 7 (after that I felt it got a bit monotonous) and have been using kissmyblack ass but am not enjoying the music - too much sex! want something more upbeat and neutral! Can anyone suggest anything else that is a bit more dancey?

For those like me moving on from the c25k programme I have been recommended interval training (Serena Williams does a good one apparently) so you are not increasing your distance but you are increasing your fitness and speed. Worth a look up..

nobiggy · 02/08/2010 11:27

Did w3r1 this morning - amazed myself by running for 3 minutes! Slow as anything mind you, but to think I was struggling to get to 30s just last month! It really works doesn't it? And I think maybe I could talk during a run, early on, maybe a little

sybilfaulty · 02/08/2010 13:57

Nobiggy, I am a week behind you and did Wk2 R1 this am - am amazed I could run for 90s! 3 mins seems like a long time but that's next week for me! Wow! Have you noticed any difference in your shape or anything? I reckon I could talk for the first bit, but am too knackered for the 2nd bit.

I will use map my run to see how far I am going but at the moment I reckon it's not even 2 miles so a bit too depressing.

Am quietly looking forward to Wed am run. I haven't swum for a week now (pool closed etc etc) and am missing it but the running is helping. I do look like a big fatty pounding the streets, but at least I am out and about rather than at home eating crisps.

Have a good weeke everyone.

nobiggy · 02/08/2010 15:07

Yes, I've dropped a size I'd say. You'll likely overtake me, I'm taking more than a week with each one, I like to b reasonably comfortable before moving on.

Distance-wise, I'm getting 1.8 miles with the warm-up/down. Not a great distance, or speed, but I'm trying to last the time, I'm expecting the rest to come with practice.

MABS · 02/08/2010 19:13

did hour personal training ystdy, nearly died! then 20 min run today, will try for 25 mins tmro

TheNextMrsDepp · 02/08/2010 20:08

sybilfaulty, nobiggy - it really works, doesn't it?! Well done on keeping with it. Don't get hung up on distance at this stage, just focus on the times you are running to build up your stamina, and you can worry about speeding it up later. The best advice I was given was to take it gently, then you won't end up with stitches and aches & pains and be put off taking it further.

Hiya Raffiiscool - I got bored with Robert and Helium Suz too (made it to week 9 but have had to ease off a little recently due to somewhat dodgy left knee). Now that you don't need someone telling you when to stop and start running you can download your own running mix. I found the track listing for a 5-CD set of running music and just downloaded the songs - I'll see if I can remember where I found it.

wohmum - yay! You did the big one! It's downhill from here (running-wise, I mean).

MABS you are truly a superwoman. Personal Trainers scare the s**t out of me.

Anyway, the good news here is that my knee is slooowly getting better. I've found that leaving three-day intervals between runs is enough to allow it to recover; went out this morning and did 20 minutes with only a slight ache afterwards, and it has gone now. Will try to fit in a run on Thursday morning if my head isn't too full of holiday planning.

MABS · 02/08/2010 21:09

so glad your knee getting better Mrs Depp

kiwibella · 02/08/2010 21:54

aw sybil, I was really proud this morning imagining that I might have covered two miles ! I ran a fourth week two cos I'm a bit scared about moving on to week three... but did spot that you did it today nobiggy .

well done wohmum!!! It's so cool hearing how people progress through the programme / duration of running improves.

MABS · 03/08/2010 07:56

two miles is great! i just off to my treadmill for another 20/25mins

notanidea · 04/08/2010 00:29

Hi all
Been a bit busy recently. Nice to hear that your knees are better Mrs Depp.
Planning for week 7 run 3 tomorrow.
Will report back tomorrow after I finish my week 7 runs.

sybilfaulty · 04/08/2010 10:40

Wk2 R2 completed. I do wonder if I'll ever be able to do more than 2 mins but I suppose that's th point of the programme isn't it?

MABS, you and your treadmill put me to shame. You are an inspiration.

Hello NAI, Wk 7, gosh, you are doing well. How long are the runs in week 7? Cannot believe that could be me by end of Sept. How are you feeling?

I noticed as I ran past shops today that I have a lot of unattractive wodge on my tummy, just below my bra. Nice. Do you think running will help get rid of that? I suspect it's the wine and crisps. Should I get rid of them? Or just run in the park where i can't see my reflection?!

Right, off for a shower then to sort car insurance. Have a good day everyone.

N4NNY · 05/08/2010 09:07

Hope everyone is having a good running week and still getting on well with there runs. I had a good run last night and am amazed by my progress each run. I'm starting to notice a difference in my body shape even if the the weight is very slow to come off.

Loujalou · 05/08/2010 10:50

Right - puts toes in the water. I am going to start it today. Help!!!

FiByTheIcySea · 05/08/2010 15:07

loujalou welcome don't worry if you find it hard.. i struggled running even 60seconds when i started 6wks ago. i'd not done any running since primary school!!!
