Does anyone wish to join me

OP posts:
sybilfaulty · 26/07/2010 13:43

Well I am all togged up and ready to go! I feel like a prat though and can't think of anywhere to go which is anonymous. I am going to have to face the derision of the neighbours. Wish me (and Raw - bert) luck!

sybilfaulty · 26/07/2010 14:53

I am back

Raw - bert, though a bit annoying, was brilliant. Don't think I'd realised quite how long a minute was. Am still puce in face and sweaty as a beast though.

I would have said I was fairly fit with all my swimming but I found that quite hard going. Can anyone tell me it gets a bit easier as you do more of it?

I also don't relish bumping into people I know when I am red and sweaty. Must go out first thing before people up on Wed.

Kiwi, I think we were on an AN thread together in March 2007. Do you have a 3 and half year old? I have, although I had a different name then. I recall too that you lived in E London. I may have got that completely wrong though, so apologies, but if it is you, then how is your DD? Mine is adorable, but very hard work at the moment. I've since had a son (now 20M) and have an older daughter (now 5).

Well done, Fi and Nobiggy, you give me inspiration.

How are you feeling today Mrs D? How is your knee?

MABS, my shock absorber bra did what it said on the tin, but gives me an unfortunate monoboob, like the Queen. Still, better than blacking someone's eye. Or my own.

Right, off to the shower.

MABS · 26/07/2010 14:59

yep, i do the shockabsorber bra thing too, so very attractive...not!

No running at w/e apathetic I know, but have done leg/bum/tum class today first thing. will try to run in am tho

Eliza70 · 26/07/2010 15:23

Hi everyone, I am on week eight (!!!!) of this. Am totally amazed I have stuck with it and can now run for 28 minutes, considering at week one I could barely do the 90 seconds I am so proud of myself. I started with Raw-bert but downloaded an app for iphone called get running, it uses the same instructions but you can use it in sync with your own music which is far better. I also had knee problems at about week four/five but rested them for 8 days and they got better.

Only disappointment is I have not lost much weight and have only toned up a bit, DP thinks it is because it is only in these latter weeks that I have been doing sustained running.

MABS · 26/07/2010 15:35

very well done eliza!

notanidea · 26/07/2010 16:47

Not read the whole thread recently but just back from the weekend off and am going to wrk. I ran 25 min - yes I did it.... Due for 28minutes run tomorrrrroooooowwww....

nobiggy · 26/07/2010 21:34

Ran again this afternoon, looked hopeful for a little rain but blazing sun by the end of the half hour.

Kiwibella - I did the half moon this year, followed Nina's training programme, near enough. I still walk, on a Thursday I start with Robert, then walk the remainder of 3 miles. I'm hoping to get a place for the half next year, the 3 miles a week is just to keep in practice. I have some unformed plan to do the half next year, the full the year after. My chiropodist wants to chop bits off my feet first though.

Onwards, onwards, 90s still tough, but not impossible now. I'm going out early these days, trying to avoid people now school's out!

TheNextMrsDepp · 26/07/2010 23:28

Hello all, still running, so I see!

Well done Eliza70, it really does work doesn't it?

Notandidea - Yay! I never doubted you'd manage. You're almost at the end of the programme!

Hiya Sybilfaulty - you're off and running. Don't worry about the neighbours laughing at your monoboob; ignore them, or do what I do and go at the crack of dawn before they are up (no blazing sun either).

My knee is OK, I'm just really irritated that it has interrupted my schedule!! Throughout this programme I thought the real battle would be with my fitness, I didn't think my flippin' joints would start to let me down! Might have to dig my bike out of the shed after all. Week 9 will have to wait.

kiwibella · 27/07/2010 09:52

sybil... it's me ! Tho I've left London now and we've been in Cambs for 18 months. Dd is delightful too.

nobiggy... I also did the half this year - and loved it! So much more enjoyable than the full. I was with my friends who I walked with last night and there were murmurings of another full next year... but I definitely remember saying never again after this year .

Love the sound of the iphone app... hubs has one, maybe he will share? It will solve my problem of juggling an ipod (in my trouser elastic) and mobile phone (just in case!).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/07/2010 11:06

I knew there must be a thread here somewhere....

day 1 week 1 completed

I really need something decent to listen to. as I said in my other thread, I kept missing the 'walk bit' and only hearing the 'now RUN' bit, which I was already doing. music was horrendous too, (was a Christian one)

off to scan thread....

wohmum · 27/07/2010 21:46

Hi all

I managed week 5 run 1 this morning, didn't think I'd do it, but wasn't too bad.
Not looking forward to w5day 3 though! Glad to hear that it can be done.
I'm another who couldn't run for 60 sec 5 weeks ago, so it really does work . Not shifted much weight though, presume that will come more as I do longer runs, whaddya think?

FiByTheIcySea · 28/07/2010 09:36

I'm a bit behind in my runs.. I was supposed to do my wk5run2 last sun but felt exhausted all day so didn't go out. dd14m had been up the previous 2 nights full of ds grotty snotty cold. He's nearly 4 and unfortunately an early riser 6am is a lie in for him so i think the combo lack of sleep did it. We had a residents meeting mon eve then yesterday my period arrived full force so i now feel yukky. Really feel i should give the 20min wk 5 run tonight but don't know if i'm feeling up to it? Struggling a bit this wk.

wohmumwell done! when are you doing your wk5r3?
ohyoubadbadkitten well done must have been Really hard with non running music!
Arrrgh kids fighting over toys.. must dash.. bigwavetoeveryoneelse x

FiByTheIcySea · 28/07/2010 09:39

oops meant wk5run3 on sun.. right i'm off to referee

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/07/2010 13:42

Might make you feel a bit better FiBy?

I discovered muscles I forgot I had when I got up this am. Funny how running (even a bit) uses different muscles from walking and cycling. If that means they are going to tone up it would be ace!

sybilfaulty · 28/07/2010 17:01

Am impressed by the people on Wk 5! I wonder if I'll ever get there. Bad luck though Fi on the no sleep - it is a killer isn't it? Hope the kids get better and you get your head down soon.

Totally agree about the different muscle groups, OYBBK. I am fit as I swim a lot, and naively thought this would be a breeze. Could not be more wrong. Legs ache in all manner of ways. If they tone up everywhere they ache, it would be wonderful!!

I managed wk1 r2 this am and it was easier than Monday. Possibly because it's not 75 F and full on sunshine. Am feeling very virtuous. I'd love to lose a bit of weight though as well as being fitter and more toned. Fingers crossed.

MABS · 28/07/2010 17:22

had tummy bug, done nothing since mon, feel v guilty

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/07/2010 22:31

MABS - don't feel guilty - thats a very good reason not to run.

Am hobbling a bit this evening hopefully will feel better in the am. cycled with dd to swimming today and I feel utterly ravenous this evening.

MABS · 29/07/2010 07:31

hope you feel better kitten, i going to try to run tmro

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/07/2010 08:18

good for you MABS. Are you feeling better today?
unsure if I should run today? still quite stiff - esp round knee and ironically I've got a physio appt I need to cycle to this afternoon!

nobiggy · 29/07/2010 10:12

Should have gone out early but stayed in bed. Busy week, and aches and pains. I may make it out this evening, or tomorrow morning.

I worry that I'll skip one and it'll all just slide!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/07/2010 12:34

I decided to go tomorrow instead too. No point in breaking myself in week 1!

TheNextMrsDepp · 29/07/2010 16:21

Come on ladies, no slacking now!!!!

MABS · 29/07/2010 16:28

had a fun day with ds at hospital today, so no exercise at all

TheNextMrsDepp · 29/07/2010 17:04

Oh MABS, nothing too serious I hope?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/07/2010 18:53

MABS - I hope he is ok. how rubbish.
