Our thread has got too big.

Iwill start this one with two things:

Positive vibes for the exciting developments on the MN Marathon Relay thread and

Early ballot for GNR 2010 - you know you want to:)

Twink · 21/01/2010 19:38

Sorry to hear your news MrsW, it's still rubbish, even when expected

How are you Moshi?

Hope the drugs start to help you soon Hat.

Shall we open a book on if when Popsy will enter a marathon?

I've had a much more positive week, managed a huge gym session and Body Balance on Monday, 10k run with friends on Tues, followed by a swimmming lesson (I'm finding the prospect of swimming 1.2 miles front-crawl incredibly daunting at the moment), 4 mile run with the gang last night, 1.5 hour MTB ride today, beautiful in the mist and snow. Hope to run then do a spinning class tomorrow, then go climbing - reckon I might finally sleep through tomorrow night!

Hope you've had a good one Wheelybug, plenty of time for book reading later.

Wheelybug · 21/01/2010 21:08

Thanks Twink - you're right. I had a good one. Only 5K but at least 5K now is feeling like only 5K. 10K here I come .

Glad you've had a more positive (active !) week Twink. Hope its all helping.

MrsW - sorry I should have said earlier but sorry to hear about your uncle.

Moshi - Hope you feel up to running soon and in the meantime am sure pilates will be good.

Right need to get in another 5K over the next few days which is going to be tricky as I have a certain dd turning 5 this weekend !! I think I might need the run before or after hosting 25 kids at a disco party.....

sfxmum · 21/01/2010 22:11

oh is Popsy doing the Marathon?

anyway trouble with boiler here aaarrgh
running maybe after school run tomorrow I expect

hope everyone is well

Twink · 21/01/2010 23:36

Just put stuff on the other thread, it's very long but hope it's not too tedious; it's helped me to write it down.

SFX, my boiler is making very odd noises, I've got to the stage when I worry if I can't hear it so know I need to do something before it goes t*ts up.. Hope you get yours sorted!

Themasterandmargaritas · 22/01/2010 06:53

Just back from a lovely 5miler on an easy route.

MrsW, I forgot to say how sorry I am to hear about your uncle.

Wheely you are doing brilliantly.

I keep forgetting to look at the other thread, will pop over for a quick look.

peachsmuggler · 22/01/2010 14:08

Wow, twink do you ever stop?

tee hee, read Marathon post at 10 to 5 other day and was tempted just for a moment to say yes!!! ha ha. Glad I never.

Am at the stage now where I can imagine doing a marathon. That is to say, I can imagine training for one. For all you marathon runners out there, how long/hard did you train for your first? In my head I imagine I would have to run 4 times a week at least to train for one, and to be honest I don't think I could manage the time at the moment. Maybe in a few years once DD a bit older, at school.

sfxmum · 22/01/2010 14:18

hello all warmer now at sfx towers

mrsW meant to say sorry for your loss

I would say go for Marathon if you think you will regret not having a go later on

Twink impressive as ever hope you and miniT are ok, does she show signs of wanting to run?

whellybug have you found a Pilates class?

am enjoying mine enormously

will try and go for a run later has been stuck home waiting for boiler man
DH was out at 6.45 he is so getting the bug

peachsmuggler · 22/01/2010 19:04

sfxmum - I am also going running later after an afternoon of waiting for the boiler man.

Parallel lives!

popsycal · 22/01/2010 20:48

Another crazy day, 3 mile slow run with a dear friend, Spinning class then climbing all afternoon. Took my first swing (fall) when lead climbing today but thankfully my belay partner held me and I didn't hit the floor, just got a rope burn to one arm, It's been a bit like the wait for a first wasp sting, you know it's inevitable but the anticipation is worse than the reality (assuming you don't have an allergy to wasp stings).

Doing a 10k tomorrow with a friend who's trying to build up distance and stamina, then it's the monthly women's bike ride on Sunday morning. Missed the last one for obvious reasons but it'll be good to get back into it.

Naviagation training on Monday, preparing for our hoped acceptance into the OMM then shopping on Tuesday

sfxmum · 23/01/2010 00:18

Twink do you do orienteering? all that activity sounds great, I really need to get more active and mainly get on that bike asap

peachy did you get it sorted? ended up not going out but no excuse over the weekend and Monday

LittlePushka · 23/01/2010 00:35

Just camping on your thread,...I will be no trouble, honest!

peachsmuggler · 23/01/2010 09:22

Was just a checkup sfx, so to speak so didn't take long.

Got out for a rainy 4 miles in the evening of fartlek and it was tough, really tough. Could really feel how my fitness levels had gone down during snowmageddon (Charlie's Brooker's phrase ) so will need to sort myself out!

Planning 8 miles tomorrow.

popsycal · 23/01/2010 12:26

Hurray!!!
Went out for what I planned to be a 20 minute out and back with the 'back' part being a little further than the 'out'. My ipod sensor thing is broken (new one on order) so it was instinct really. Got back and decided to keep on running. Felt great after 40 minutes!

Ran for an hour and I guessed it was pretty close to 6 miles. Mapmyrun told me 5.97 miles Anyone else scarily accurate with predicting distances?

On the flip side though, I am off to the doctors on Monday as I have found a tiny lump in my breast. My instincts say it is just a milk duct as I have had a touch of thrush recently which I think went to the ducts. My gut reaction is that it is just probably 'normal' (whatever that is after 8 years during which I have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for 90%) of the time). But I am just going to get it checked. Trying not to dwell on it.

OP posts:
popsycal · 23/01/2010 12:28

master -0 I think 90nmin is probably realistic for my 15k given my current fitness levels but maybe I need a few more 'layers' to my target

OP posts:
popsycal · 23/01/2010 12:30

that last post was meant to be on the marathon thread

OP posts:
stickylittlefingers · 23/01/2010 15:46

hi - just popping in and popping out, but just wanted to say to popsy - don't dwell! I had a funny lump a couple of years ago, and indulged in a spot of dwelling until I could get a dr appt. Was nothing. Dwelling time was time that could have been much better spent - even if it had turned out to be Something, the dwelling wouldn't have helped. Obviously much easier to say "from the other side", but I understand that most lumps turn out to be just "one of those things", so odds are...

Decent day today, thought I was going to get out, but DP has fallen ill with some bug. Selfish, I know, but . I'm not allowed to say that anywhere else!

sfxmum · 23/01/2010 15:58

stuck home again today dh had to work took dd to party now entertaining child and play date

  • maybe later

popsy - please don't fret, had a lump a couple of years back it is a benign thing which I am only cutting off if it grows and bothers me otherwise keeping my pet fibroadenoma
still hated the mammogram those things hurt

popsycal · 23/01/2010 16:56

am not fretting really - am fairly sure it is nothing but want to check to be sure

OP posts:
Themasterandmargaritas · 24/01/2010 18:08

Littlepushka, you can't just camp.....

A weekend of sun and sailing so it's 10k tomorrow with a very annoying friend who is all legs and never normally runs and can just pop out a 10k like that. I put it all down to the fact she was born and brought up here at this altitude so has an lung capacity advantage, like all the Ethiops and Kenyan long distance runners.

Always good to get these things checked out Popsy, finger's crossed.

Wheelybug · 24/01/2010 20:15

Pops - fingers crossed for you. Sounds like you're being sensible.

DId 5K at 8 am yesterday morning as knew I wwouldn't have time this w/e otherwise. Even managed the 'hill of doom'. Ice skated for 45 minutes holding up my (as of today) 5 year old so that's got to count for something !!

popsycal · 24/01/2010 20:43

I am almost certain it is nothing - but will get it checked. Having been pregnant or breastfeeding (or both) for the last 8 years (and continuously for the last 5!!) I have no idea what 'normal' boobs are like

OP posts:
popsycal · 24/01/2010 20:44

oh and just to add - I can feel the run in my legs today. They aren't sore but alittle achey.

Going to attempt 5k tomorrow and pondering the new parkrun in a few weeks

OP posts:
hatwoman · 24/01/2010 20:46

hi all, just popped in to see how you all are. re the omm twink - hope you get a place.

do you climb outdoors? you do know i live right under some of the uk's best climbing spots? would love to make you a cup of tea if you're ever in the area! dh climbs - but i've no head for heights.

still no running here. been abt 3 weeks now. had a course of steroids which seem to do diddly squat. last few days have been feeling worse - numb, feeble, and totally unco-ordinated. not even up to walking the dog tbh. load of old shite.

it's reasonably likely to resolve itself though...can't wait.

good to see the mn marathon's coming along.well done popsy.

[sorry to whinge a bit...just needed a minor off-load]

hatwoman · 24/01/2010 20:48
