Our thread has got too big.

Iwill start this one with two things:

Positive vibes for the exciting developments on the MN Marathon Relay thread and

Early ballot for GNR 2010 - you know you want to:)

hello all

popsy i have had odd bumps come and go while bfing, am sure it will be ok.

well i have done 10m yesterday and a quick 8k today and ouch my foot hurts.

have new regime starting now ds is in reception, i will now have three weekdays with childcare/evening meal so will have to see what new stuff i can get up to. pilates on one night.

MoshiMoshi · 25/01/2010 11:04

popsy - hope all is OK. Keep us posted. Had some horrible lumps milk duct related in the past so suspect you may be right.

twink - David Harkins got another outing at my dad's funeral. I managed it through the tears. Thank you for your advice.

hat - keep strong.

On a brighter note of late my SI joint is healing and while I have yet to run I now have the all clear for a gentle trot so will try to do that this week. Some pilates on Friday and then hopefully I can start hockey training the following week - a lifelong dream to get back into a sport I loved from the age of 9 until I graduated and work then got in the way. My dad would be pleased.

Happy running everyone.

PS popsy - I may need to revise my MN run depending on what sort of training I can fit in now. Possibly reduce it to 10 miles? Will let you know.

sfxmum · 25/01/2010 12:24

hello all

hatwoman it will hopefully improve soon, hang in there

went out yesterday only 4miles and again this morning with dh but mostly ended up chatting and not much effort running

have to get down with essay writing as I want it over and done by my birthday

Themasterandmargaritas · 25/01/2010 15:07

Oh hattie, I'm sorry you are not seeing any immediate effects. Keep positive. Feel free to complain anytime

Popsy, how did you get on?

You sound much more lively Moshi.

I managed 10k this morning, knocked off a minute in my quest to meet Popsy's 15k in 1hr 30. It actually helped to have my friend run with me as her stride is faster so I made more effort.

Just shows how lazy I am normally, get into a pace and plod, plod, plod.

popsycal · 25/01/2010 20:45

I could not gget an apt today willtry tomorrow

will be doing 2x 5k tomorrow to run homef from dropping car off for mot and then picking it up again

filing tax return at the minute - straighr forward if I could find my p60!!!

OP posts:
popsycal · 25/01/2010 20:46

i have entered local race, it goes to olympic park!

popsycal · 26/01/2010 10:56

dropped car off for mot - around 2.5-3 miles run backhome. Last mile hastened by pelvic floor deciding to play silly buggers

running backthere later to get the car

Twink · 27/01/2010 22:48

Bonkers week so far, Sunday out with the newly formed ladies bike ride, around 20 miles as cycled to the start and back.

Monday was my assessment for Bronze NNAS award (navigation), did ok and passed, spent 5 hours out and about up hills in the process (not hills like Hat deals with but I'll get there eventually!) Certainly made me consider orienteering as I loved it.

Yesterday was a slow & steady 10k+ with a friend who's training for a half in March. Today I did an 8m+ brisk walk, then climbed for 3 hours and finished off with a speedy 4m run. Sadly, I've topped that with a bottle of white..

Climbing again tomorrow, and Friday (ice climbing for the first time!) but hope to run again on Sunday while miniT is at Brownie church parade.

Hope you're all enjoying the snow & ice free paths now

MrsWednesday · 27/01/2010 22:56

Blimey Twink, I'm impressed (and exhausted!) by all that. Have managed 5 miles on Sunday and 3 miles yesterday and that's probably it for me until the weekend. Was nice to get out and clear away some funeral sadness and general weariness.

Very much enjoying being able to run freely without having to constantly watch out for ice and slushy puddles.

Hope you managed to get out for your gentle trot Moshi.

How are things Hat? Really hope it's improving, must be worrying and very frustrating.

Popsy, how did things go at the doctors? Hope all is ok.

hatwoman · 28/01/2010 02:14

ice-climbing?! fantastic. dh did some for the first time this year - there are a couple of photos on my profile. they're not very big though and you have to look carefully to see the climbers.

[quick update - saw consultant today who virtually laughed at the dose of steroids the gp had given me and gave me 5 days of 16 times as much. she warned me that they'd send me bonkers and i'd be hoovering at 3 am. well she was wrong. i'm mn-ing at 2. completely different . certinly feeling perkier and feeling hopeful of getting back to normal.

sfxmum · 28/01/2010 12:01

hello

Twink that sound super impressive and kinda fun too

Hatwoman I hope the steroids really give you a boost but it is true they do drive you slightly bonkers
(friend was on high dose recently)

am plodding along ok

popsy could we maybe start a count down of weeks until the MN Marathon please
might make me shift into proper training gear

hatwoman · 28/01/2010 14:01

sorry to keep giving you non-running updates but i have to tell you this. my new-ish running friend, who I met just a year ago, just called in to give me an ms crystal. I don't really believe in crystals but I do believe in the healing power of thoughtful, kind friends. it gave me the kind of boost that actually made me well up a bit. and it's a very pretty crystal that i'll wear as a necklace and truly treasure. how good is that?

popsycal · 28/01/2010 19:39

love this thread

didnt get to docs
will go monday without fail tho

no runninghere but may get 20 ish mins on treadmill tomoorrow night while ds1 has his swimminglesson

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 28/01/2010 20:05

Twink - Wow ! That's all I can say

Hat - hope the new dose sorts you out. Am sure you're no stranger to them but my husband is longterm on steroids and has been on some v. high doses and he gets disturbed sleep (but then he never slept well anyway).

popsy - get thee to a doctor just to be sure.

NO running here since monday as DH not been around but running tomorrow night and sunday when I start increasing my time/distance.

Wallace · 28/01/2010 20:12

Hope everyone is fine Sorry not been here for ages but haven't been running for soooo long.

First I had a very minor crash in the car but my neck was sore. Then I had a horrible fluey bug. Then when I recovered form that the weather was just so bad I couldn't get motivated. I don't think I ran for about 2 months

I have been out for two short runs. There is still snow on the ground and very icey so very slow going (2 miles in 30 mins ) but the paths are treacherous. Some of the snow is still fairly deep and soft, some is packed hard and some pure ice so I really have to watch my step!

For Christmas dh bought me a Garmin forerunner - it is a fab toy

peachsmuggler · 29/01/2010 09:26

Ooh wallace very at your Garmin! Sorry you've had a bad run of things. very impressed with your snow running

Got back to my running class for first time since before xmas and felt I'd lost loads of fitness. Was good fun though, but very wet. Legs feel a little sore today also.

Damn those delicious mince pies!

Themasterandmargaritas · 29/01/2010 10:42

Twink slow down woman, you are making me exhausted just reading your posts.

I received a LOVELY CD yesterday. Lots of cool songs on it, I am delighted thank you so much.

5 miles this morning, but it is so hot. Also I may have drunk one glass of wine too many last night. So it was slow going.

sfxmum · 29/01/2010 14:27

so no one interested on starting a countdown to the big day?
I could do with the motivation pretty please

popsycal · 29/01/2010 19:50

I counted down on t'other thread.....
8 weeks on SUnday!!!

I need to get out more regularly if I am going to meet my 15k target. I am pretty confident I could run that far tomorrow if need be but you know me - I need a goal

I am going to close entries for 'teams' this weeknd and am having a minor panic about how best to organise everyone - any advice appreciated

I think we need to try to push the fundraising side somehow. I know there is 2 months to go but I would really like us to raise an amount that can make a difference.

I want to get in touch with Macmillan but time/lack of eloquence is stopping me. I would also like us to have a t shirt or wrist band or something. But again, time and manicness chez popsy is preventing me getting it sorted....

OP posts:
sfxmum · 29/01/2010 20:05

thanks popsy that seems awfully close
take it we are pooling all the fund-raising into one page? I linked it to my FB page a while back but need to bring it up again

Wheelybug · 29/01/2010 20:05

8 weeks - yikes (but on plus side that means only 7 weeks until i go skiing ). Please count me in for 10K Popsy (I was down as 5 or 10K).

As for teams... hmmm... is it nice to do some from the running thread and then some new people ?

As for hte other stuff... hmm.. is it worth putting a shout out to see if anyone is in the tshirt/wrist band market ??

Right, I need some encouraging words - I am sat here in running kit waiting for DH to get home. He's not going to be home until at least 8.30.. and its friday night.. but if I don't go tonight I won't do 3 runs in the week and thus not get through the week of the 10K programme so I need to go (also been stuck in house for 2 days with poorly-ish dd1) but would rather open a bottle of wine....

Wheelybug · 29/01/2010 20:07

His train's just left so that means he'll be home about 8.35/8.40. I should add, that its quite a normal time for DH to be home so if I am going to run regularly I need to get used to it...

popsycal · 29/01/2010 20:11

run then wine....

I am not sat in my pyjamas drinking beerr, honest
