I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

I am going to do my own music - need to make some inspiring playlists

AitchTwoOh · 04/06/2009 14:47

yes, i can't help but think that running while listening to the archers on radio four isn't really helping on the pace front.

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 04/06/2009 14:48

Might depend on what exactly the story line is I suppose (very occasionally listen to the Archers)

AitchTwoOh · 04/06/2009 14:50

the theme tune's good and very rum-ti-tum but over too quickly i fear.

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 04/06/2009 14:58

What is it called - I used to know. Maybe you could have it on a continuous loop?

Have now found it is called Barwick Green. And discovered a person who walked down the aisle to it

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 04/06/2009 14:59

The end part used to scare me when they played the extended version (I would hear my mum listening to the Archers when I was in my bedroom).

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 04/06/2009 15:01

Here it is.

Must go and pick up DS from school.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 04/06/2009 19:01

ok i ran yey! ankle not so bad so it must be nearly mended (or pain masked with drugs) - anyhows did w6r2 and took it easy. It was suprisingly easy i have to say - well ok the last 2 mins were a bit of a slog but it was goooooooooooooooooooood

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 04/06/2009 19:28

ok some miracle has also happened and i put it down to 2 things - firstly the miracle... i have just calculated my running speed thingy and i am running 10.23 min miles woo hoo! I did feel as though my pace was quicker tonight and these are the factors:

a: today someone told me to look after my feet as a runner so i have - i have painted my toenails dark berry . They look pretty.

b: secondly i have just realised embarrisingly (sp?) after talking to my neighbour as well that whilst out running in my sexy running trousers i have had them inside out - hence the big flappy pocket at the back thats been flapping about like a flappng tail and the big run of obvious inside out stitching along with the big white size tab. So there you go! top tip - get dressed in the dark and paint your toenails - makes for improved running!!!

Well done Nappy!

Was talking to my mum last night saying how the first run always kills me but then it gets better, she said she was always the same, or is it just us?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 04/06/2009 23:07

Have realised I could use hybrid maps on the gmapds pedometer and so realised i did 2.68 miles which was 11.12 min/mile. Am v impressed at nappy's speed

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 06/06/2009 14:04

Where is everyone then? Out running?

canella · 06/06/2009 17:45

did you fel lonely lovelyrita?

tickled nappy with your lovely red toenails!! forget about the rest of your dry feet - as long as the toes look good!!

did w2r3 this morning - it felt so much easier than the last ones have done! still struggling with my breathing at times but managed to do most of the runs with my mouth closed - dread how i'll get on next week!

but bring it on - wk3 here i come!

Vulgar · 06/06/2009 17:53

hi everyone.

i did W6 R1 today - 25 minutes but as usual I have no idea how far I am running. how do you all calculate your speed and distance? I must be missing something.

Instead of Rawb I tried the Podrunner W6 - not sure if I liked it, the music is quite heavy and instead of talking to you they use a bell that sounds like the ones you get in continental railway stations.

racmac · 06/06/2009 18:26

Hi all

Have been doing running course and am now running 20 mins walk 2 mins run 20 mins - never thought id run further than the end of the road and that was pushing it!

Doing the race for life in 10 days and hoping to complete in under 30 mins although not sure will manage that bit.

Need some decent running music to listen to - anyone any suggestions? Good sites? I cant seem to get anything from itunes to my phone or mp3.

I have a Nokia 5800 - bit like the iphone but not got all the applications yet. Was hoping for a running thingy so can tell how far actuall run - how does everyone else work it out?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 06/06/2009 18:46

I went running under a new regime Here.

Also was using my own music which I think goes faster than Rawb as in my second 15min I seem to have 9.15 min/mile

Chinwag · 06/06/2009 18:53

I started the bUPA 10k cos I was managed 25 mins non stop, then I managed the 15 + 15mins. But now, for some reason, I can't do more than 7 minutes without walking!! What's going on there then!!!?? Feeling very dispondent. I have the R4L soon, and I am not convinced I can do it. Grrr!

JackBauer · 06/06/2009 19:27

Well managed W4r2 today, amd a run behind so need to go out again tomorrow, but since making my own playlist I am managing 10.55 mins/mile (thanks for those links Trillian, really handy)

Although my earphones came out of the phone as I was running past shops (with gang of kids outside) and blasted them with Culture Beat - Mr Vain. Which was quite embarrasing.

First run in the rain as well, which was so nice, I stuck a cap on so I cold breath (good welsh sideways rain) but I am able to actually run the last 5 mins as opposed to the slow jog for the rest!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 06/06/2009 20:09

vulgar here for distance and here for measuring pace

soooooooo tonight i went out and just did w6r3 - I CAN RUN FOR 25 MINS!!! WOOO HOO! I reckon i could have continued for about another 3 seconds but my ankle was getting hurty and my other calf was painful too so stopped in good time. I felt like i was slower tonight but my shiney toes are still working their magic and tonight i was running a pace of 10:57 minute miles. When he said it was the end i whopped the air but i was right pleased with myself and felt like the rocky music should have filled the air .

Well done Nappy.

JackBauer · 06/06/2009 20:22

Way to go Nappy! Can't imagine I will be doing 35 mins in 2 weeks...we shall see.

That looks hardcore Rita, no way I could go from nothing to 15 min runs straightaway!

Vulgar · 06/06/2009 21:00

well done Nappy and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LINKS.

sorry for the shouting but it was so great to see how far I am running . . it looks like miles when you look at it on t'interweb.

Measuring it, it looks like I am running 1.65 miles in 25 minutes which sounds pretty slow I think. i hope I've got it right as I can think in miles now.

Vulgar · 06/06/2009 21:01

"can't " think in miles. sorry!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 06/06/2009 21:06

Yay nappy

I felt like that at the end of W6 - Rawb was very emphatic about congratulations

I couldn't have started with the 10k plan but having done most of the 5k one it is OK (probably famous last words seeing as I have done one run of it )

I am having problems working out how far I run when I am not on roads - I need to try harder with working out hybrid maps I think.
