I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

im doing this one! im on week 4 from tomorrow. im determined to do it but have to say its getting hard! im always pleased when ive finished!

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/11/2009 12:06

OMG!!

well i did it but it takes a bit of a leap doesnt it!

5mins, then 3 mins, then 5 again! i managed it though, and didnt collapse so am quite pleased with my self.

only thing is now ive got to go to work when all i feel like doing is going for a nice lie down!

giddykipper · 24/11/2009 19:49

Well done Vicar, I found week 4 really hard. I did W4R3 on Saturday and couldn't finish it. On Monday night when I went out I was trying to decide whether to do W4R3 again or W5R1 - I started week 5 and I managed it. I swear week 5 is easier than week 4. Perhaps it's all in my head though

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/11/2009 22:23

ohhhh so we are give or take a week about at the same stage then?!

i just found it a bit of a push going from 3 mins to 5 mins, it was my R1, im hoping it gets easier. planning to go again on Thursday, then R3 on saturday or sunday.

im managing it though which im really shocked/stunned/pleased about.

giddykipper · 25/11/2009 19:43

I think I have found week 5 easier as you get longer breaks to recover between runs. I must admit, I am utterly amazed that after about 6 weeks I can run for 5 minutes. Gives me hope that I will be able to do 5k. I am aiming to be there for New Year.

ThatVikRinA22 · 29/11/2009 18:34

did it!

onto week 5 next week! wooohoo!

giddykipper · 30/11/2009 22:01

Well done! You've caught me up, I've not been out for a week (full of cold again), going to try and go out tomorrow night.

giddyupRudolph · 01/12/2009 20:09

Well that confused me - all the runs are different in week 5. I was running along thinking "this is a long 5 minutes" only to discover it was 8 minutes. I've just checked and W5R3 is 20 minutes with no breaks

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 02/12/2009 00:19

yep!! i was thinking that!

how in gods name am i gonna do 20 mins....i did run 1 today. and that was a bit of a push i have to say.

run 2 on thurs....should be fun..! not! 8 minutes????? aaarrrrhhhh! and it really doesnt help when he says....run 1 your finished now...that will just signal that i am knackered and have to keep going for a further 3!

but. i am determined. ill report back on thurs after my 8 mintues!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 22:20

ok day 2 down....just that 20min run to go!

should i be losing weight by now?

giddyupRudolph · 03/12/2009 23:04

I'm going to try to do it tomorrow.

I think I would be losing weight if I weren't feeding myself congratulatory biscuits all the time!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 23:27

haha! i keep hopping on the scales but alas!! still im getting fitter which is good.

am slightly worried about week 6....if week 5 finishes with a 20min run what fresh hell awaits us on week 6 - am trying not to think about it!

ill be doing the 20 min on Sunday.

giddyupRudolph · 04/12/2009 20:06

Feel a little down on myself as I didn't manage the 20 minutes. Got to about 12 minutes and had to walk for a minute, then got to about 19 minutes and had to stop.

20 minutes is a long time though.

Just looked at week 6 - it looks easier.
W6R1 - R5 W3 R8 W3 R5
W6R2 - R10 W3 R10 - how can that be harder than running 20 minutes without a break?

Perhaps the 20 minute run is just a test, so that a week later when I can (hopefully) manage it I can see an improvement.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 04/12/2009 23:56

well ill most definitely be clutching those straws with you giddy...am dreading the 20 min run. how can it leap from 8 mins to 20?

am going to attempt it on sunday. i reckon it will be 2 1/2 laps of my park without stopping....boring! i doubt ill manage a full 20 mins tbh. i just dont feel ready for it. 8 mins was pushing it!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 06/12/2009 14:00

well i changed my route - i decided to just run in one direction for 10mins then turn round and come back!

i think it made it less boring - i just about managed it - but i chose to run up a hill - doh!!

anyway - i had to stop to cross a road (not for long though) and then had to negotiate a huge puddle so i stopped about 30 secs from the end!

never mind, im not too worried as i managed most of it. i had to shed a layer of clothing mind...

week 6 looks easier, which im glad about. how are you doing giddy? im planning to start week 6 on tuesday morning.

giddyupRudolph · 06/12/2009 20:46

Well done vic, you must be really pleased.

I am planning to start week 6 on Tuesday too so we'll be neck and neck! I could have gone out this evening but I've had a manic day trying to get the house straight so I'm knackered.

I really want to get to week 9 by the end of the year, I should be OK as long as I don't lose my way.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 06/12/2009 22:12

we can chivvy each other along- i darnt miss a run as i know it would be harder to catch up!

so, lets see how tuesday goes. (its got to be easier than today - my legs are seizing up - i think ill ache tomorrow)

giddyupRudolph · 06/12/2009 22:17

If I get through week 6 this week, then it needs to be Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday.

Tuesday - it's a date.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 06/12/2009 23:16

exactly the same as me then- i run tuesdays, thursdays and sundays.

see you for an update on Tuesday (it will give me time to regain the use of my legs!)

ellielou02 · 07/12/2009 08:05

Hi Ladies,
Hope you dont mind me joining in, have just started the couch to 5k programme, have NEVER been a runner but after a bad chest infection (have asthma) I decided I had to try something so have just finished week 1 and have to say I am surprised by how much I enjoyed it but need to keep motivated.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 07/12/2009 22:00

hi ellielou!

well done! it gets easier until you start having to do longer runs though, i guess the clue is in the title ha ha!

ill be back tomorrow!

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 08/12/2009 11:27

well thats strange - week 6 run 1 should have been easy in theory - but i think im having an off day. i really found that a struggle. hope i have a better day 2 on thurs, think ill vary my route again.

giddyupRudolph · 08/12/2009 19:31

Sorry TuTu, but you don't know how glad that makes me feel! I had a miserable time, I really struggled, my legs felt like lead. I gave up after the second run I was hating it so much! Think I might have to do W6R1 again.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 08/12/2009 22:02

why isnt this getting easier? it was 5 chuffing minutes fgs!

oh and according to my scales which i am convinced have a problem with me i am 2lb heavier even though im running AND have stopped drinking mid week.

baaahhhh!!

will try again on thursday. run 2.

giddyupRudolph · 10/12/2009 19:18

I'm not going out tonight, motivation is soooooo low. Not helped by the fact that I couldn't finish the last two runs.
