I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

Inthezengarden is this the confession box?

If so....

Forgive me Rawb for i have sinned - it has been a whopping 22 days since my last run (hoidays and lame excuses) - anyhows today i took myself right back to week 6 where i seem to permanently be - i did day 1 of week 6 and am now sat here in my sweaty state to confess....... seems the break has ermmm turned me red again but im back and vow to never have such a break again. Where is everyone else???? Norky? Canella, Jackbaur, lovely rita and more??????

I covered 2 miles not including the warm up and down and had a pace of 12:10 which is not v comparable to my 10:00 of weeks back!

InTheZenGarden · 23/08/2009 20:28

Failed to do 25 min run

Failed to even attempt it

Just so so so knackered

So ate a curry and drank half a bottle of wine

Do I have to do Hail Mary's now??

canella · 23/08/2009 20:30

forgive me Rawb (and nappy and zen) for i have really sinned - its been nearly 4 weeks since my last run and i'm extremely worried that when i try again tomorrow i'll be really rubbish!!

but i wore a bikini on holiday and the sight of my roll of fat at the side hanging over my bikini bottoms has made me more determined to get back in my trainers!!

so tomorrow eve it is - cant do morning since we only got back from holiday at 5pm and i am really old mother hubbard! so its shopping for healthy food in the morning and running with dd as personal trainer in the eve!!

I AM BACK!!!

canella · 23/08/2009 20:31

zen - not sure what the punishment is when the sin feels like punishment most of the time anyway!!

nappyzoneisback · 23/08/2009 21:14

lol zen you made me laugh - awww never mind - small steps and all that.....

Superduperloopthelooper · 23/08/2009 21:39

I have finished wk9, hooray! I found that changing from Rawb to my own music at wk7 made all the difference.

Having said that, I am very very slow! I took a sat nav thingy out today to check that I actually am running nearly 5k and am not just doing 1/2k in 30 mins .

It all went horribly wrong, my ds has been coming with me on his bike and today he fell off so I only did 2.5m in 27mins...I was so frustrated that I tried to persuade him that his arm wasn't hanging off and to hop back onto his bike (mean mummy!) but he refused...

Am still really enjoying it though, and never thought I'd get to this point so am really chuffed. What have those of you that have got to wk9 done then? I have just added another 3min song to playlist but am thinking that I should maybe try to up my speed beyone brisk walk first?!

nappyzoneisback · 23/08/2009 21:47

wow congratulations on getting to week 9! , i dont think i will ever leave week 6 lol

Superduperloopthelooper · 23/08/2009 22:28

Thanks nappyzone . I never thought I'd make it either! I really strugged to get to 25 mins then managed the rest through sheer bloody-mindedness! Also, I have been so worried about missing any runs and having to start the whole thing again (I would go back to wk1 not wk6!) that I have made myself keep going - I have surprised myself!! I do feel a bit lost without a wk10 though!

nappyzoneisback · 23/08/2009 22:30

awwwwwwwww well done - i feel encouraged . I will leave week 6 i will i will i will!

lulalullabye · 24/08/2009 00:30

Well done superduper, that was my next step until the leg problen cropped up. I have my ultrasound scan this morning, so we will see what it is. I suspect it is overuse and the advice will be to stop running for a while . Gutted ! Anyway, will let you all know.

Nappyzone, once you go past that 25mins, it does get easier. The next is only 3 mins more, which I know is masssive, but after doing 25 mins its fine, just push it.

lulalullabye · 24/08/2009 04:01

. Tests done and it turns out that it is a freaky kind of shin splint, so I can run again in a few days. Had to have an x ray as well as they thought I might have a stress fracture

AddictedtoCrunchies · 24/08/2009 16:03

That's good news lula but what on earth were you doing on MN at 4.01am??

InTheZenGarden · 24/08/2009 19:45

25 mins attempted - and 18 mins achieved

Will attempt it again on Weds

Great news lula

And well done superduper, I am so in awe of you

Crunchies - Lula's in Oz (Melbourne iirc), hence crazy hours!!

Skimummy · 24/08/2009 21:56

I just managed another 25 minutes tonight - the start of week 7. I think it was more of a struggle than w6r3 but I made it a bit further. I was very red (you might even say purple) by the end of it. I think I am going to have to ditch Rawb and make my own playlist. Still waiting for my Nike+ - am starting to wonder whether DH was messing with me when he said he ordered for me!

Glad to hear the leg is not too much trouble Lula. If you are in Melbourne, are you running around the Tan??!!

lulalullabye · 24/08/2009 22:12

Hello, yes in Melbourne, but alas only just coming into spring so it varies from sun to wind, rain, hailstorm and certainly not warm !!

Looking forward to the summer though but it does get very hot !!

Zen, have you tried just walking when you can't go any further, then starting to run again after a minute. It sometimes works for me if I think I am going to die !!

Well done ski mummy

IdrisTheDragon · 24/08/2009 23:03

Hello

I am LovelyRita btw - was Idris a couple of incarnations ago and have gone back to it

Haven't run since last Tuesday and unlikely to again for a bit although may manage tomorrow as I think DH is likely to be off work due to hideous migraine today .

I think I am a 5k runner. And at about 30 something minutes. Am generally happy that I can generally keep up with ds (5) now which I couldn't before I started this

nappyzoneisback · 25/08/2009 12:18

OOOOO Im aiming to go out tonight to do w6r2 though if i arent dying at 10 mins might fireon to the straight 25.

Superduperloopthelooper · 25/08/2009 12:32

Thanks all of you . Am still very very slow so need to work on that. I stuck another 3 min song on my playlist and ran for approx 33 mins today, yay!

Lula - your shin splint thingy sounds painful. Is it going to make it worse if you run on it again?

Zen - I had that trouble with doing the 25 mins (see above!). Have you got your own playlist? I found running to Rawb at this point drove me bonkers because I was trying work out how long there was to go every time he gave a timecheck. Now I think in terms of how many songs there are to go rather than mins.

Rita - well done! I am doing the 30 mins but getting overtaken regularly so think that speed may be an issue! Do you plot your run so that you know you're doing 5k? I am guessing at mine .

Good luck tonight nappy!

InTheZenGarden · 25/08/2009 15:34

I shall make "doing a playlist" my task for the evening (back to my old tricks, far happier doing the revision timetable than the revision... )

Hadn't realised that (assuming I get through the end of w6) the intervals are over now and it is just straight runs from now on. As super says, I'm finding it really hard with Rawb telling d1 and d2 people to stop, when I have to keep going... and the music is just abysmal.

So I may as well just put together some decent music

nappyzoneisback · 25/08/2009 18:45

ok so i didnt fire on to the 25 mons but managed the 2x10 ok - pace was a bit better but im still only averaging 3k from when start run and end it (inc the walk in middle) sceptical of getting to 5k

VulgarAchesButCanRun5k · 28/08/2009 19:54

you WILL do it Nappy.

I did 5k last week and it was hard but I did it. I can run 3k fairly easily now and I thought I would never be able to say that.

I am not very speedy by any means. I average 3k in about 23 mins and 5k i did in 38 mins.

ooh Lula - you poor thing with your nasty shin thing. You have my sympathies, I was lucky, mine wasn't as serious as yours but it hurt . . but once I got into the swing of running, it went away. I hope yours heals quickly.

VulgarAchesButCanRun5k · 28/08/2009 20:00

Gah! I've just realised, I bored you all with my 5k triumph last week.

I am now obsessed with recording my runs on the nike website. sad or what?

InTheZenGarden · 28/08/2009 22:09

25 minutes

Quite pleased with meself

My trick was to ignore w6r3, which I was supposed to be doing, but do w7r1. Same distance, but a straight run, so Rawb didn't keep interupting me and telling r1 and r2 to stop, when I had to keep going....

IdrisTheDragon · 28/08/2009 22:43

I haven't run for ages .

I will make it out during the weekend.

InTheZenGarden · 29/08/2009 07:13

Forgot to say - omg at the w7 music!! There is a guy laughing in a most sinister way around 8 minutes in. So disconcerting and horrible. Definitely doing my own music from now on!!
