I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

hello, have just started c25k program/podcast, can i join you?

Did first run today

am

as student i used to run up and down that bloody great mountain in the middle of edinburgh. And that without these modern ipods or heart rate monitors or even a bloody water bottle (that now seems to be an essential for Ancient Me)

I nearly killed myself on the first bloody podcast. Jesus.

Might go out again tommorrow though . I need to wake up early, before dp needs to leave for work...

InTheZenGarden · 27/07/2009 21:46

Welcome Fillyjonk, and well done on your first run As the others will tell you, it does get easier with each run Sadly, the music doesn't

I haven't run since Thursday (should have gone yesterday but was feeling somewhat jaded after a wedding weekend!) so instead of starting w4, I did w3r3 again. Bit cross actually, as half way through, I realised I probably could have managed w4r1. Oh well, got that to look forward to on wednesday

IdrisTheDragon · 27/07/2009 21:49

DH is away until Wednesday. Not sure how I am going to run unless I take DD (3) with me and seeing as she is not that fast (unless on her scooter) not sure that would work.

Montifer · 27/07/2009 22:53

Hoorah, survived W5 R1, in fact I think it felt a bit easier than last week strangely. Think Rawb's music might be marginally less irritating than last week although I might retract that statement by friday! Am sceptical, but also have (blind) faith in Rawb and you wise folk that I will run for 20 mins non stop on friday - something I don't think I've ever done before!! In fact TBH don't think I've probably done 5 mins non stop before
Idris - perhaps you could tow DD on her scooter?
Welcome Fillyjonk!
Good luck with the not stopping tomorrow Nappy

lulalullabye · 28/07/2009 04:23

Hello, going to start w3 tonight so wish me luck, this is where I stopped last time. I have ordered a 2gb shuffle as the 1gb doesn't hold enough songs as it is the only ipod/mp3 that I will have. Couldn't get hold of one in Australia, so have had to order from uk !

I gather then that Rawb music gets more dire as it goes along . I just find it easier to listen to him telling me when to stop etc. The weather over here is getting slightly warmer now and should start to get nice and toasty sept/oct so might get a tan whilst running.

Fillyjonk · 28/07/2009 08:35

oh yes the music on teh ulley podcast is SO bad

all I need is a way to time the intervals really, with music. don't suppose there's a way to do this with itunes?

Fillyjonk · 28/07/2009 08:35

ps good luck lulla!

IdrisTheDragon · 28/07/2009 11:28

Good luck lula

I found I liked one of the songs in week 4 (about an operator or something?) but they really aren't "my" kind of music.

lulalullabye · 28/07/2009 11:31

Ok, back from w3 r1. Bloody hell ! 3 mins was really hard, but I did it. I have a feeling though that I may be on this week for a while .

Anyhow got to go to work now, so onwards and upwards

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 28/07/2009 13:12

oh golly - w6r3 tonight and im a bit nervous despite being here and beyond before. It looks cool outside and cloudy. I was going to go out on the bikes this pm with little people but think i better save my energy so im tucking into tea and biccies instead . They are enjoying a tv day.

I have just wrote my holiday list out and on it strangely put mp3 player and running vest/ shoes. The beack is 3k long so i figure i could run its length one sunny evening

Vulgar · 28/07/2009 16:23

Ooo yes Nappy. a long beach run is lovely. I did one on holiday and went for ages with knackered knee which was a bit silly.

Welcome Filly.

I've ditched Rawb but maybe not forever. Poor Rawb!

Nike+ and shoe pouch and ipod has been my salvation.

bloody great hole in the finances tho'.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 28/07/2009 19:13

Vulgar did you run barefoot? dh just said why shoes in case i should run barefoot hmm. And no i havent gone out tonight - i feel as though my sausage dinner is going to reappear so im resting.

OP posts:
JackBauer · 28/07/2009 22:28

Filly, I went through my albums on the pc arranged by time and timed my runs/walks like that. veyr hadny for 3 and 5 mins as most songs are this length anyway!

I have been very bad. Went running last week but haven't been since. Am badly PMTing and it's grim weather and I can't be arsed as I ahve no race to be shamed aim for.
No 5k's round here for another year so I think I have to register for the park run and pick a definate date.

Vulgar · 28/07/2009 22:52

( BTW you can kick me when I am procrastinating which will be some time soon no doubt)

Nappy - no I didn't run barefoot as I did a bit of the promenade and grass and the hard sand just before the water line.

butt muscles are not toned enough to run on soft sand.

IdrisTheDragon · 28/07/2009 22:54

I want to go running.

Well maybe not right now seeing as it is nearly 11pm.

But I don't think I can until maybe Saturday.

Humpf.

animpartialposter · 29/07/2009 08:54

Yes i thought soft sand would be difficult so was thinking harder sand in the water line or yes perhaps the prom.

I intend to go out tonight but too need a virtual kick - will come back tonight to give jack a kick and she can kick me likewise

(is nappyzone by the way !)

canella · 29/07/2009 10:16

sneaking away from running for a few weeks - feel ashamed!

but all 3 dc are off for the next 3 weeks and that buggers up any chance for running! that also includes our weeks family holiday in the austrian alps (def no runnning that week - too many hills!!)! but i'll be back end of august - think i'll need some help from rawb again then!

hope you all keep going! will bob in to the thread to check you're not all slackers like me!

JackBauer · 29/07/2009 17:44

Seriously though, have you seen the weather? I went for a walk to the corner shop and had to spend the next 20 minutes under a blanket with DD's and some hot chocolate to get my core temp back up!

InTheZenGarden · 29/07/2009 18:53

I'm itching to get out but it's pissing it down
Tomorrow, hopefully

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 29/07/2009 19:35

Yes thats right thankyou! I admit it was peeing down here too then at 6.25 it stopped so i donned my trotters and off i went - a new route with my newly painted hot pink toe nails.

I am soooooooooooooo chooofed i managed not to stop at all - right on 25 mins i am ready to die and keel over so i doubt i could ever get to 30!

I have just done the map my run thing and am a bit miffed it was only 3.7 km but hey ho - 5k one day again my friends! Calculated at a 10:55 minute mile.

In the interests of motivation we should aim for a weekend sat in end aug or beg sept and all go do a 5k local park run then report back like a virtual mumsnet fun run? Yes/ No?

I so wanted the rocky music on my mp3 for when i finished !!

OP posts:
InTheZenGarden · 29/07/2009 20:26

Woohoo nappy, well done you!

I too went for a run - there was a brief lull in the rain, so off I went. Heavens opened 5 minutes in, natch, but hey - I actually enjoyed it!!

I know I'm nowhere near Nappy and the rest, but I've just done my first 5 minute run (w4r1). And I too am so chuffed.

I only started 3 weeks ago, and the 1 minute runs were killing me at the end. So 5 minutes is a huge achievement for me. And that makes me think that maybe maybe there is a chance I will be where you lot are now, in a few weeks time. Maybe

Sorry, went on a bit there, but am pleased with myself!

Oh, and love the idea of a virtual MN run, nappy!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 29/07/2009 20:40

Inthezen you will get there - you really will and its so empowering - then you have a crappy few weeks like me ha ha - but im back now like Rocky yeah! I dotn think i will ever oass week 6 - will i - has anyone actually moved on?

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 29/07/2009 21:01

oh god though the music is SO bad!

Any ideas?

Have done second run of the week but I am actually dreading music more than running atm...

lulalullabye · 29/07/2009 22:32

I am finding at the moment that I cannot hear the music because my ears are full of my brain reminding me that I am dying !!!

W3 r2 down !
