I was waiting for someone else to start it but had to take the plunge to tell you i just did my w5r3. I managed it but am hurting. Started off too quick and was wrecked 5 mins in but slowed it down - kept going and got to about 14 mins in when my ankles started really hurting - i kept on going anyway and was v relieved when raaawb said that was it - i then proceeed to hobble home - the bath is filling as i type and my ankles are painful but still that i did it.

just measured it - knew exactly how far i'd run in 18 out the 23 mins (lost my way a bit after that) and it was 11.15 mins per mile!! well chuffed with that!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 10/07/2009 09:41

I went out and did some running while the rest of the house slumbered .

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 10/07/2009 12:01

I think i went out to sooon after work so still tired from that and running round after kids - think best if i go after they in bed after i am rested. Will go tomorrow perhaps.....

Just got back from my run - it was fab!! Week 1 down, bring on week 2!! (downloading it now) Wow, those endorphins are good!

Went to Up and Running today, did the treadmill thing to assess gait and bought new trainers - £75 ouch but they feel so much better than my last ones, they are worth it. Also succeeded on my quest to find a bottom-covering top, even better it was reduced from £22 to £5 Admittedly, it is a rather distasteful pink, but hey, it was cheap

Now going to undo all that effort and have a G&T while I'm cooking tea

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 11/07/2009 20:27

Another alleged 25 min off the list leading me into next week of 30 min runs..... i computed a pace of 11:06 min mile which is a teny tiny improvement on my last run but again i did have 3 teeny tiny 30 second at the most episodes of walking as my legs were just so darn tired! Still its still 25 mins of excersise i never used to do. Well done zen - i told ya youd start itching to get out . Good look race for lifers tomorrow x

Oh nappy, and to think I doubted you! Will believe everything you say now

tryingtocookacurry · 12/07/2009 08:09

I had a dreadful run this morning. Instead of getting up and putting on my trainers and going straight off, I had a leisurely cup of tea and a fag before I went.
I had the most horrific stitch all the way round and had to keep stopping as it was so bad, I couldn't run through it.
I wonder if it was the cup of tea? I'm not doing that again.

tryingtocookacurry · 12/07/2009 08:12

Hasanyone skipped week 6 run 1. It looks odd when I have just run week 5 run 3, three times this week.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 12/07/2009 10:44

I wouldnt miss it tbh, when i have had periods off i start back at that run to build back up .....

Meant to ask - a few of you talk about the time it takes you to do a mile - does that mean you have pedometers? If so, can you recommend a cheap and cheerful one?

I would be interested to know how far I'm running, and what time I'm doing, but no way am I going to get really serious about this, so don't really want to spend much.... thanks

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 12/07/2009 14:52

i use gmaps pedometers and keep an eye on where i start and stop so i can work it out later. I also use min per mile so I can see how quickly or otherwise I'm going.

Children have made num lock on and it won't go off so am typing this with function key down so the effrt of doing links is tricky but they are further up in the thread

am considering a run in a bit - everyone else is out and i got back from a wedding a bit ago.

I find if i eat/drink too soon before running i get a stitch. But if I haven't eaten recently enough i get all week and useless.

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 12/07/2009 16:06

i also use gmaps pedometer though have also discovered mapmyrun as it lets me go over none roads iyswim.

another great site is www.goodrunguide.com

canella · 13/07/2009 08:15

feel all achey / fluey this morning - can just about stay out of bed long enough to look at emails and MN on the computer so def no running today!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 13/07/2009 09:13

morning, just checking in to logg that I did 2 miles last night, managed to run all of the first mile for the first time and then ran/fast walked alternating the 2nd mile.

am going to be able to go out every other night this week so hope to see more improvement.

can anyone advise, at what point should I increase the distance? DO I just keep trying to improve the time on the 2 mile route?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 13/07/2009 12:30

I did running yesterday but it was not one of my better attempts.

(a) couldn't find water bottle and think needed water while running
(b) it got hotter than I thought
(c) probably hadn't eaten enough
(d) it got windy and I found myself trying to run into the wind.
(e) was running on grass to prepare myself for RFL next Sunday and it got really long

Meant to run for about 40 min. Did 25 min and that was less than 2 miles. Want to be better next Sunday - am hoping to be swept along with everyone's enthusiasm

JackBauerDoodleDoes · 13/07/2009 19:27

Evening all.
I am cacking it now. My race is on Sunday. I went out on saturday morning at IL's and got a bit lost, plus I kept stopping so am not ready for a run. Plus am stressed about childcare, but will start another thread....

Montifer · 13/07/2009 22:49

Hoorah, just back from my 1st run in a week and new trainers seem to be helping the hurtey knees, can't believe what a difference a bit of cushioning in the soles makes.
I meant to repeat a W3 run but did W2 by mistake and knees still throbbed a bit. Will do W3 in a couple of days and if all is well onwards to W4.
Sorry for the moaning but it saves the RL people from the whingeing!

Jack - don't fret, you can do it. Hope you get childcare sorted so you can enjoy your race without stressing about that. Will you be running again before sunday?

Go for it Zen, the endorphins do feel great don't they

JackBauerDoodleDoes · 14/07/2009 13:58

Well done all, good one Monty! Don't worry about which week, I repeated previous run a few times when I wasn't feeling brilliant. Doesn't do any harm!

Went out 6am today, did 1 3/4 miles in 20 minutes, lost my watch and pe?dometer so only just worked it out!

Where is your run then Rita?!

Superduperloopthelooper · 14/07/2009 14:15

Hello all

Does anyone know why the podcasts go back to shorter interval runs in wk6 after having built up to a 20 min run in wk5? Someone has added a comment on Rawb's site saying that it is harder to return to intervals, and this is to be expected....is it???!!! Why?!

Am due to do wk5r3 tomorrow and looked ahead to wk 6 and it looks easier?! Am I worrying too much about this? .

Thanks!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 14/07/2009 16:09

Hi ladies,
am going out again tonight, will do the same 2 miles as have been doing the last few weeks, BUT do I try to go further and stay out for 25 minutes or do I allow the time to come down?

JackBauerNaPasPeurLaBastille · 14/07/2009 18:32

I would go further TBH greyskull.

And no idea why the time changes super, it confused teh hell out of me!

InTheZenGarden · 14/07/2009 18:37

Thanks for the pedometer info - I wanted a cheap one, didn't realise it would be free!

Did week 2 run 1 on sunday, not due to run again til tomorrow, but I'm actually itching to go tonight! Think it is out of my hands though as DH not home from work yet and there has just been quite a bit of rain.... oh well, tomorrow it is

Jack - well done on your run this morning - hope you're feeling more confident about Sunday and managed to get your childcare sorted

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 14/07/2009 18:42

Mine's in St Albans. Feel I will either be good or v bad LOL

JackBauerNaPasPeurLaBastille · 14/07/2009 18:47
