liath · 23/04/2009 18:08

argh, Justcallmegoat - the email got bounced back (and I put in all the dots etc!). A few of the Edinburgh MNers have my email address, I'll see if any have yours and could forward mine......

popsycal · 23/04/2009 18:58

right
in aa minute i will post you a link tto what you need
basically you put this litte nike plug into your pod at the bottom
then attach a sensor to your shoe and it measures your runs and uploads yur data to nike lus and you get fancy graphs andf can join chaalenges

popsycal · 23/04/2009 19:02

you need this nike pkyus thingy www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MA365ZM-C-Nike-Sport/dp/B000LSC6PS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12405 09542&sr=8-1

and if you dont have nike shoes with special insoes, you need one of these pouch thingies too

www.amazon.co.uk/Shoe-Pouch-Nike-iPod-Sensor/dp/B000PGQ1AC/ref=pd_bxgy_ce_text_b

if you look at the first link you can buy both together at a reduced price

dh bought me them for christmas and i am now a little obsessed

JustCallMeGoat · 23/04/2009 19:20

sorry liath sheherazadethegoat hotmail co uk

NorkyButNice · 23/04/2009 21:06

fishie - yes I've been for my second run, thanks for checking up on me! I managed 6 minutes longer and went half a mile further (still a mix of walking and running). It's all progress!

I got the Nike Plus kit with my trainers, and I'm a little bit hooked at looking at my 2 rubbish runs already

popsycal · 23/04/2009 21:08

we could set up a MN challenge group when more epole get the nike whatsit doobry

Wallace · 23/04/2009 21:32

I have a Nike+ thingy but I find my headphones don't stay in properly next to the sensor (they have an L-shaped jack and it doesn't sit flush) so I don't use it.

Wallace · 23/04/2009 21:33

also just remembered it doesnt work do well since I dropped my ipod in the loo. Ipod works fine though...

NorkyButNice · 24/04/2009 08:05

Trying to motivate myself to go out for run number 3 today

It's only half an hour, and will hopefully improve my stamina again so I really should do it, but I'm feeling all gloomy and just want to stay in bed (it's all sunny outside and everything!).

Must get up and run...

fishie · 24/04/2009 08:26

go on, i often find that when i don't feel like going i actually run better. i've had to take the afternoon off work today to fit in another run this week!

popsy thanks for info on the gadget. i will have to check it works with my ipod which is a bit ancient.

Twink · 24/04/2009 08:41

Go on Norky, get yourself out there! Fishie's right, you'll feel tons better when you get back.

I'm off to play on my bike now, cycling to the gym for a spinning class & circuits and look forward to reading about your run when I get back

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/04/2009 08:52

Hope you've gone Norky. The best runs are the ones where you really don't want to go and then you do and feel fab

This is easy for me to sya though because I am 'resting' today.

sfxmum · 24/04/2009 10:07

about motivation Go norky

I find that the hardest is just getting out of the door once out you just go, best not think much about it beforehand just go on automatic pilot, set time, get your gear, go

today I will be walking with dd along the same path where I run and just being there makes me want to run
impressed with gym might join a couple of classes when dd starts Reception in September, have not done spinning or proper swimming since before she was born
and am still to learn how to ride a bike but I must crack that one this summer

happy running and good luck to hatwoman for the marathon on Sunday

NorkyButNice · 24/04/2009 10:43

I went! Same distance and similar time, but more running and less walking than last time, so an improvement overall I think.

Am coughing like a trouper now though - there was blossom blowing all over the place and I think I must have breathed in a tree's worth

Twink · 24/04/2009 12:15

Well done Norky!!!

Just back from spinning etc and quite relieved to be home in one piece, had a really scary moment at a roundabout - not sure why the car driver thought that overtaking me then pulling right across the front of me and stopping was a good plan, thankfully my reflexes weren't as tired as the rest of me!

Sorry, not trying to put you off mastering your bike sfx!

Hatwoman and any other marathoners reading: have a great race, enjoy it and beware of getting caught up in the spirit of things and finding that you're on target for a 10k PB it really doesn't help those later miles..

popsycal · 24/04/2009 12:44

I am going out for a run later
Am considering abandoned the annoying robert ullrey and week whatever of couch to 5k....
might just start on week 1 of 10k

JustCallMeGoat · 25/04/2009 16:49

a big thank you for liath for running round arthur's seat with me this morning! the hill nearly killed me but it felt great having finally done it. next time i won't stop at the top!

popsycal · 25/04/2009 19:59

has anyone found a podcast for 10k? Like the obert ullrey 5 k one?

liath · 26/04/2009 00:22

No probs justcallmegoat. I was glad we'd arranged to run as I might well have wimped out if not and I felt great (& very virtuous) after!

OrmIrian · 26/04/2009 08:38

OK. I'm off in about 30 mins for my marathon support run. I shall puff my way round my nice easy run and think of all those brave souls and wonder how the f* they can contemplate doing it...

Wallace · 26/04/2009 08:50

goat & liath - well done!

I'm doing 11 miles this morning. it was my running club night out last niht...

popsycal · 26/04/2009 09:54

hurray
gorgeous 8:30am run here. Beautiful sun but a bit of chilly wind. Ideal running weather!

I did 5K in just under 29 minutes (that included a tactical 2 minute walk half way through up a hill )

Well chuffed - not ran as quick since I got back into it

Themasterandmargaritas · 26/04/2009 11:54

Hoooorrrrayyyy for Kenya! Do you think the influence will rub off and I could ever run a half marathon in the time Wanjiru has just won the London Marathon?

I did about 17k this morning, my furthest ever! It took me an hour and 35 mins. It poured down with rain and it was heavenly cool.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/04/2009 14:29

popsy - have a look at podrunner. Pick your beats per minute - I think most of them are all music, does Robert Ullrey talk on his?

I got wet yesterday too, was lovely.

Hope all the MN marathoners are OK.
