Fishie, yes I am.Have I missed you?

I run on a long cycle track that stretches from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. I generally get someone to drop me about 10k from home and jog it back. Might be a bit out of your way though.

Lots of nice places to run around the Lleyn too. You may have to stop and start a bit though to get over walls and whatnot.

If you are really brave, what about the race up Snowdon? One of my friends does it often and says it is nothing to do with what your body can do, only what your mind can.

I am running every day here in Bangladesh (Indoors) but still struggling terribly with humidity. Was in Malaysia last week and it was so much easier as a much drier climate.

Consolation is that when I get home, it is sooo easy to run in chillly Wales.

My GNR trainign is going really well. Did a 8.8 mile run on Monday in 90 minutes flat nd felt like I could have run forever!

Today was just a 40 min/4mile recovery run then tomorrow is the dreaded tempo run. Now that I know I have been doing the fast parts too fast, I am hoping to feel more encouraged after tomorrows run. I haven't got my race pack yet but have a reference number and have been getting emails etc so am not worried.

Getting excitied

Good going Popsy that's a great time for 8.8 miles.

Good luck with the tempo run today. I haven't decided what to do today, maybe intervals, maybe temp, but in all honesty, maybe just a nice easy 4 miles. We'll see how hot it is!!!

Nice 50 minute tempo run today - finally gt the hang of it I think!!
5 Miles in 48:48 (liking that time in a rather obsessive number person kind of way!).

Rest tomorrow other than Davina tummy exercises DVD [blush}

Just trying to put together a playlist for my weekend long run - this is a 10 miler so very much unchartered territory for me. What would you put on your playlist??

Report
sfxmum · 20/08/2009 21:35

popsy well done
regarding playlist if it were up to my 4yr old it would be Yo Gaba Gaba 'don't stop don't give up repeated ad nauseam

hope everyone is well and healing from assorted injuries
not much running for me this week just a couple of 2miles easy quick runs, have essay due tomorrow so getting ready for de stressing run at weekend

Hello, was having a nose thru the excercice threads and found you!

I am doing the GNR too....

Am a bit behind in my training - the pack says should be doing 8 now. Did 6.25 tonight, and I could do more, so I am sure I will be not too far off in three weeks. Am going out every other day doing this.

hi -I'm doing the GNR too (for the first time) - and will be embarking on the 10m this weekend (find it slightly alarming - I've never run so far before!). I have been on holiday and the training was going v well then, but now I'm back home I'm also back to running first thing in the morning and I find it really hard to properly warm up. There always seems to be a niggle in a calf or a shin... Is it just me or is this a running at 6am thing?

Fantastic Popsycal! Now you really know you can do a half, 10 mile training run plus 5k race ;-) Seriously, once you've hit the magic 10, you can visualise your way around the last 3 pretending you're doing your 'local' route that you know inside out. Hope that makes sense, not worded it very well!

I've been running hard lately, managed a 20 mile week last week, first time in months! Had a fantastic (in a masochistic sense) speed session on Tuesday, thought lunch was going to return but it felt great afterwards. Wednesday's steady run was hard work though!

Hope some of the injuries are starting to settle down now.

Hat, your exploits are inspiring! Moondog, I remember training in Thailand a few years ago, finding it really hard going then finding it was all so easy when I got back to England's drizzle, hope it works for you too.

hiya, i started running for the first time ever in march! and ran the race for life in july.

i found it very hard to get up to doing 5k non-stop and only managed it for the first time a week before doing the actual race. and even then it still took be 42 mins! on the actual race day i doe it in 35 mins! was really chuffed.

anyway ive stupidly signed up for a race for life 10k in october (was on a major high for the 5k! lol). any way ive got about 6 weeks to go now and ive got up to doing 8k in about 1h 10mins. is this good? or is progress really slow??

sorry for the essay. hope you can help. xxx

I did a half in March, and it was long! I then had a bit of a rest to sort out a poorly knee, but really regret that now - it made it so hard to get going again, and had to go through all that new agony to get the miles in! I had then run about 6 every other day, with a longer weekend one. The longest i did was 12, and i was fine on the day!

I find once you can do an hour its easy to do more very quickly. How is everyone else doing?

hi everyone, not been running this week as in switzerland for 10 days but have walked up,accross and down lots of mountains! I sort of figure thats ok for now, but will need lots encouragement to get back into when i return next week!

I am even more determined to do now as saw a gynae last week(long awaited appt) to be told yes i have PCOS but to recieve treatment i need to loose at least 3 stone, but she was also telling me that most people with PCOS find it almost impossible to loose any weight! Didn't offer any further help, so in my ususal stubbourn way i am determined to prove that i can loose the weight and not fail, like she expects me to. .

I have ocado delievery coming monday and am following the gillian mckeiths plan, as i am also wheat free, so not much ii can eat anyway.

Sorry about all that rabbiting on!

Encouragment needed by the bucket load please, come onSFXMum I NEED YOU!

Twink, I'm going home tomorrow and from past experience [I come to Bangladesh often] it has been a doddle in comparison.
It's the air in this humidity, feels like breathing porridge.
I'm proud of myself as I have run 5km every day for 35 days.
I'll do a 10 km when I get home and see how it feels.

Popsy you are doing so well, I am quite .

Moondog, after the altitude here, running along the Somerset lanes felt like a doddle, if you can manage 5k everyday in Dhaka I'm sure you will go like a rocket in Wales!

Morethan I'm sorry to hear about the PCOS, you don't need any encouragement you obviously have it already in bucketloads.

Hello to Moose and Lexi too.

I need to sit down after reading about Twink's runs.....

I am still out of action My knee is still suffering, I think I have patella femoral syndrome. Instead of running I am playing tennis and doing pilates, I shall try a small 5k next week I think.

Gosh you've got a good memory, it used to be Cameroon, I couldn't possibly have run there with all that humidity, like you have it. Now it's Nairobi, much more pleasant all round Safari Njema.
