I WILL NOT nesh out again like I did last time.

DP has even bought me an iPod Shuffle to run with so that I don't have to lug my big iPod around (oh the inconvenience).

this is what I'm talking about and here's the podcasts I run to.

I'm not starting today though, got about 3 hours sleep last night.

I did w5r2 tonight and like you violet i cannot beleive i have got this far and whats more i found tonight manageable - better than the w5r1 so im a teeny bit confident about r3 but not too much iyswim. My calves are all hard now and i dared to look at myself in the mirror and my legs looked quite athletic - now if ic ould just get the upper part to look it as well

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 20/05/2009 18:47

oooo forgot to say - i normally wear long trousers but tonight wore kind of cropped running shorts (below knee) which i bought from aldi and they felt so light weight and comfy - i was beeped twice tonight too

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 20/05/2009 18:48

Lovelyrita just go for it !

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 20/05/2009 18:53

Might wear my shorts tomorrow then lol

TrillianAstra · 20/05/2009 19:25

Maybe a trip to TK Maxx's sportswear department rail of cheapo crap is in order.

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 20/05/2009 20:49

Does anyone know what those bottles that are like an elongated polo are called? They look easier to run with and drink from than an ordinary water bottle.

And where do you get them from?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 20/05/2009 20:50

Have found some on ebay

Chinwag · 20/05/2009 20:57

Bit gutted. I am having to rest, because my legs hurt. Hope they recover soon, or I will have to go back a step...again!!

HuffwardlyRudge · 20/05/2009 21:21

Week 2 Run 2 - done and done.

Really didn't enjoy the first 3 running bursts.
Felt ambivalent about the 4th.
Endorphins kicked in and I loved the last two and ran grinning like an idiot.

HuffwardlyRudge · 20/05/2009 21:25

Sorry your legs are troubling you Chinwag. Don't think of it as going back a step - the goal is a healthy running habit, not to reach the end of C-5k. There is no "back a step"

ShrinkingViolet · 20/05/2009 22:12

quite enjoyed tonight's run (w5r2) except that my knee hurts, so I really am going to have to sort out a physio appointment - as far as I can work out from my googling, it's because my feet are a mess (I severely over-pronate, mostly because I have horrid bunions) and it's putting pressure on my knee. But hopefully a physio can sort out some shoe inserts or something which will sort it out, because I don't want to stop running now.

I can't believe I just typed that . All credit to Raawwb - he's got me this far!

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 08:07

I am going to run. In about an hour and a half

NorkyButNice · 21/05/2009 08:40

I will make myself go out for w5r2 in an hour.

And I really want to enjoy it this time - it's got to start being fun soon hasn't it?!?

Vulgar · 21/05/2009 09:32

You will enjoy it Norky - just you see!

Isn't it annoying that a few of us are getting injuries? i've got horrid bunions too and I over-pronate and I've got shin splints. Nothing agonising but annoying nonetheless. i'm enjoying two days rest until I go out again on Saturday.

HuffwardlyRudge · 21/05/2009 09:45

Violet are your shoes decent? When I bought running shoes I went to a specialist shop and they took a recording of me running in bare feet on a treadmill and then slowed down the video to check my foot placement before recommending shoes.

Having said all that, my problem is a big blister on one heel that I can't shift and can't seem to avoid getting. Have tried different socks. Next thing is better socks. Anyone have any blister tips?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 10:06

I just did it

I can run 20 minutes without stopping

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 10:12

Have used TrillionAstra's links and it seems I was doing 11.14 minutes per mile

Dilettante · 21/05/2009 10:14

Blister tip: soak your feet in a solution of potassium permanganate, toughens 'em up a treat. Just kidding really, that's what the tramps used to do at the soup kitchen I volunteered at in the old days, when we had real tramps rather than homeless people.

Seriously though have you tried Second Skin (not sure if that's what it is still called) or Tesco Blister Plasters?

A pair of 1000 Mile Socks ought to prevent them in future though.

Woohoo Rita! You've inspired me to try my W5R3 today as well.

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 10:15

Am very glad I wore shorts.

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2009 10:52

WELL DONE RITA!

NorkyButNice · 21/05/2009 11:05

Well I managed the 2 lots of 8 minutes! Apart from having to stop 10 seconds short of the first, thanks to the unfortunate placement of a hill in my path (where did that come from - sure it wasn't there last time!).

Well done Rita on the 20 minutes! How did it feel?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 11:29

Felt OK for about first 8 minutes, then legs felt tired until abour 12 minutes. Then told myslef it was only 8 minutes to go and that I had done that before. Then just kept on going. Still feel

AitchTwoOh · 21/05/2009 11:55

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 21/05/2009 12:30
