Right, I am starting 'couch potato to 5k' again and I WILL finish

I WILL NOT nesh out again like I did last time.

DP has even bought me an iPod Shuffle to run with so that I don't have to lug my big iPod around (oh the inconvenience).

this is what I'm talking about and here's the podcasts I run to.

I'm not starting today though, got about 3 hours sleep last night.

I started last year giddykipper and have kept it up all bar the last fortnight as I've been abit chesty and didn't want to make things worse

Tis good stuff - rob or rawb as we called him has worked a miracle on me to ven get me out of the chair, but i love going now.

Me too! Not sure what week I'll start at as I got up to 10k last year but have fallen badly off the wagon!

Ooooh, this is my new years resolution (has been for the last 3 years ). Hope to start on Monday 5th. My goal is to attempt the 10k in April for breast cancer, probably will only manage to walk it but it'll be better than watching from the side!

It made me feel so much better for the couple of months I was doing it, I slept better, felt more relaxed. I got out of the rhythm when I got a bad cough and never got back. Now it's so dark and cold (I can't go out until about 9pm) that it's tough to get going. But I WILL.

I did the 5k Race for Life in June but little else since. I prefer being fit and being able to bend in the middle when putting shoes on.
Plus I have a shuffle too specifically for running purposes.

I would love to be able to run 5k without collapsing! I used to powerwalk til I got ill a couple of years ago but have got really slack since.

Soooo the new diet and health kick starts on Monday subject to this damn throat and chest infection clearing. May have to start off with walking first but am determined to get fit!!!

That looks good. I don't suppose it is suitable for somebody who is 6 months pregnant and not used to excersice? Guessing not! Maybe i can try after the baby is born!

I started today, I'm at least 5 stone over weight and so unfit. Love walking and can walk 5k but really want to up the anti. DD (age 7) has sighed herself up to do a half marathon between now and May (a mile a week at the School running club finishing with a 3 mile run in May). That really puts me to shame as I struggle to run for more then a minute.
Started with 3min brisk walk and 1 min running X4, think I may be at that level for a while as it nearly killed me. Mind was very please that I managed. Did have dd with me for support mind she runs with such ease.

giddykipper. I am so 'in' as just been to shops and tried on clothes which all looked gross over my massive tum and heavy shoulders .

When are we starting and are we all going to follow the plan on your link?

Really want to be gorgeous....

travelling wilbury - hi and welcome.
I bought myself a good pair of trainers from a proper trainer shop where they advised me on shoes for what I wanted to do with them and were not too expensive (less than £50) and have used them for about 5 years (not had that much wear and tear obviously). The rest will follow.

Can I join too please? I am on week 4. Although I have been doing it for considerably longer than 4 weeks..... I can really tell the difference in my fitness though. Would love to have some fellow beginner running buddies.

Question for giddykipper - on the training plan, I can work out the weeks bit, but what's the Workout 1, 2, 3 about? Which one should I pick? (can power walk but 'learning' to run)
