I WILL NOT nesh out again like I did last time.

DP has even bought me an iPod Shuffle to run with so that I don't have to lug my big iPod around (oh the inconvenience).

this is what I'm talking about and here's the podcasts I run to.

I'm not starting today though, got about 3 hours sleep last night.

Dilettante - i will try to run slower. I don't know why but I find it really hard to run slower. Not that I'm fast anyway.

Dh has been massaging my calves and shins which is nice.

HuffwardlyRudge- socks really make a difference. They were the one thing I forgot when getting kitted out and once I had bought some good ones, the difference was amazingI P.S I LOVE Dubai. i think even i could manage getting up at 5.30 if i were in Dubai!

Nappyzoneisabeetrootrunner · 18/05/2009 18:38

welldone and welcome huffwa... even if i am as i just ran in the rain and wind. So i did it i did week5 r1 and my calves are aching a fair bit, my last 5 mins was a snails pace but i did it . Im not that nervous about the 2 8 mins on r2 as at least its just 2 runs iyswim. I am going to put kids to bed in a mo then its a hot bath with muscle realxy stuff mmmmmmmmm

Vulgar · 18/05/2009 18:46

Nappy - i think I'm going to do that later too. nice!

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 18/05/2009 20:45

Despite my general avoidance of the plan due to injury I managed to walk/stagger/jog the Race for Life yesterday (in 40-odd minutes).

It has to be said that it's a lot easier around a proper track than it is pounding the streets.

I ache like buggery today, but it's motivated me to stick with it.

Well done to those still running

AitchTwoOh · 18/05/2009 20:47

well done bill. how long was that? (please don't say 10k, i'll puke).

the bupa running plan seems to take things slower than rawb, if that's any use?

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 18/05/2009 21:20

Hello

I did W5R2 today and again it was all right .

Can't imagine doing 20 min without stopping at all though. And was lookign at week 6 and the beginning of that seems easier than the end of week 5 .

AitchTwoOh · 19/05/2009 10:53

okay ladies, did i just experience an endorphin rush?

my thing today was 3 runs of 5 mins with three mins walking inbetween. thanks to a broken ipod screen it's a bit hard to see my stopwatch so i ran 5 mins something at first, then 6 mins something (because i cannot add 3 to 8 without arsing it up ) and for my last run i just kept going... i felt great, like i could keep going for ages. breathing fine, legs fine etc etc. unfortunately i bumped into a pal i hadn't seen in four years (yeah, i was looking GREAT) so i had to stop at very nearly 8 minutes.

what does this mean? i seem to be so awful on the first run then it gets better...

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 19/05/2009 11:01

It was a 5k - I probably need to get over my love of cakes before 10k is anywhere near possible.

You're starting to sound like a proper runner Aitch.

Chinwag · 19/05/2009 12:52

The program is working Aitch. You're getting fitter!!

Dilettante · 19/05/2009 12:55

Gotta love those endorphins, eh?

I did W5 R2 today and it was good, felt good and comfortable during the run and energised afterwards.

I listened to the Podrunner Intervals Week 5 Mix 2 for this, (it's the same Cool Runnings C25K training schedule as Rawb) and it was so much better than my own music or Rawb.

It is because the tempo is specifically chosen to match your footfalls on the beat both for the running and walking section. I think this helps with the breathing, definitely, and helps you get into the flow and find your stride much more quickly.

AitchTwoOh · 19/05/2009 15:24

thanks all... can it be true? have bought a stopwatch anyway so i can see the whole screen and stop guessing my times.
i did the podjog thingie that popsy recommended, i wonder if that helped? i timed my first run to their fast warm up, though, arf. it seems to be done on themes and it was my bad luck that the only one on itunes is sodding new age music, which i detest. it was okay, though, definitely useful.

popsycal · 19/05/2009 20:52

aitch oublle click o it on itunes and you get a wole list of different podcasts for jogtunes

AitchTwoOh · 19/05/2009 21:24

will do, thanks pops.

HuffwardlyRudge · 20/05/2009 05:29

Bah, was supposed to run this morning but 30 minutes in bed just seemed so much more appealing. Will go this evening.

I'm a bit late to this enormously long thread, but are people saying you can do this with better music?

AitchTwoOh · 20/05/2009 09:40

not much better...

TrillianAstra · 20/05/2009 12:55

W5R3! Woohoo! On the millionth visit I have done it adn run for 20 whole minutes. Average pace just over 12 minutes per mile accorgin to Gmaps Pedometer and minutes per mile

Now I can move on to the next podcast! Yay!

NorkyButNice · 20/05/2009 13:26

I ducked out of w5r2 this morning - must get myself in gear this evening.

Dilettante · 20/05/2009 14:32

That Gmaps Pedometer is good Trillian - shame it doesn't show paths and trails though. I usually run up the tow path by the river and it wouldn't let me mark off-road.

TrillianAstra · 20/05/2009 14:33

If you set it to 'straight lines' and put on the hybrid view you can see ariel pictures rather than diagrams of roads and you can make the line go wherever you like.

Dilettante · 20/05/2009 14:36

Oh cool! Will try that. Congrats on your W5 R3 btw

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 20/05/2009 17:09

Well done TA . Am hoping that i will be saying I managed to do W5R3 tomorrow....

SVioletdidnotwimpoutofweek4 · 20/05/2009 17:14

did w5r1 on Monday (was OK); will be doing w5r2 tonight which i'm feeling quite positive about. (can't beleive i'm actually posting that - me, the one that couldn't run at all just over a month ago ).

(I had to go and check my training log - get me with my training log - to make sure that I hadn't been fantasising about having got to week 5, but no, it's true, I am really in week 5, and if I can do it, anyone can)

Vulgar · 20/05/2009 18:35

Hello everyone - espiecally all you W5 buddies.

did W5R2 again today as not confident to go onto W5R3 yet!

I like the music, maybe because I'm an old raver

It's good to see so many of us making progress. I feel really positive about running atm. I made a consious (sp?) effort to run a bit slower today and it worked!

Maybe I'll try the thirsd run of W5 on Saturday (gulp!)

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 20/05/2009 18:37

Am now starting to wonder whether going straight to W5R3 without doing W5R2 again is wise. Have told various people I am doing it though so have some incentive to at least try and do it.
