@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson When you say 'Shred' is it Jillian Micheal? I was intrigued, so I googled, and she came up. I watched one of her videos and she seems great - like the instructors of the 90's, who actually instructed, were safety focused, and give alternative levels. I think I'm finally turning a corner with my gammy left leg, so hopefully I won't have to restrict myself to swimming and walking for too much longer. I did nil yesterday, as I had training for a charity role, and a girly night out.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 03/05/2024 11:31

Yes, it's Jillian Michaels - Shred is pretty old now but very effective. You do have to be careful with some of the abdominal exercises in L2 and L3, though.

Hope you're fully recovered, MotherForkin.

Pilates class this morning. Much easier than Jillian!

Still quite tired and unexpectedly sore after last night's gym session, Professor, but mostly OK, thanks! I don't think I ever got passed L2 of shred the few times I tried it 😂

10k of walking today.

Imfreetofeelgood · 04/05/2024 09:10

4 mile walk yesterday

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 04/05/2024 09:45

Early s&c to get it out of the way

Yoga class. Not hard but quite focused - good teacher who makes you think about small things that make a difference. Back to Shred tomorrow 😱. (MotherForkin, L3 is actually easier than L2. It’s odd. A few of her DVDs are like that.)

Well done all 👏🏽 great motivation

89 ✔️ Pilates class and 5k walk

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 05/05/2024 11:51

Shred L2 done. Past the half way mark on both this level and the programme, which is motivating.

florenceandthemac · 05/05/2024 15:35

Well done @ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson
Good going

80 ✔️ 6km fast walk done first thing

Imfreetofeelgood · 05/05/2024 17:00

70 x 25m swim this morning. I was lucky there were no lane swimmers, so I took advantage, and got 10 more laps in than the other day, when I was dodging people . I might have to change pools to one that has fast, medium, and slow lanes. Current pool only has fast lane, and I'll never be fast enough to share that.

BezMills · 06/05/2024 08:33

glad you got lucky on the lanes. Lanes are my bete noir, cannot stand it.

I got in the Solent for the first time this year yesterday. a quick 200m front crawl downtide then had ice-cream face and had to side-stroke back uptide to the start position. Was BRISK.

We are away for the weekend so I was in the hotel pool early this morning. I've no idea what length it was (other than short) so I just did 30 mins of lengths.

I have so much admiration for you swimmers as I HATE swimming.
I can swim, will happily go in the sea on holiday, but just hate actual swimming. Especially in a pool. I love reading all your efforts.

81 ✔️ I went for my first solo run in months as I had nobody to go with today. Was also my first sub 30 minute 5k in ages too, as everybody I run with is slower than me. Enjoyed it but it felt tough now it's getting warmer

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 06/05/2024 17:40

Skating lesson today with DD, and fell over so I have a lovely bruise developing on my right hand. Really I probably shouldn’t be doing this at my age. I meant to Shred first thing this morning but the rare chance of a lie-in was too good to miss.

I quite like swimming when I’m actually in the pool, but loathe all the faff of changing and being wet afterwards! Loathe cold water, so no sea swimming for me.

Imfreetofeelgood · 06/05/2024 20:58

Pilates class 1 hour. I feel the same about your running florenceandthemac. I'm finding swimming sets me up for the rest of the day. I've recently retired though, so I have time for the "faff". I only swim twice a week but it's doing wonders for my biceps 💪

roonetta · 07/05/2024 11:40

@florenceandthemac during the pandemic, Trinny Woodall began sharing workouts with Nat, her personal trainer (which was very generous of her). I loved her workouts so checked out her instagram page where she has a few free workouts. I sometimes buy a course, but mostly tag along with Trinny when she is doing her workouts 😁. Bit cheeky I know but I couldn't afford to purchase frequent courses.

Agree with you on the swimming front Professor. Hate all the faff before but especially after. By he way, you are never to old for skating! I would jump at the chance if one of my kids wanted me to come along.

Glad to see you are feeling better Motherforkin 💖

Thanks Roonetta 😊

I ended up having a second swim session yesterday, mucking about with the kids before we left - a hellish day for some of you!

Hope you're feeling well again buffy, tonsillitis is horrible.

On the skating, a friend recently took up roller derby. She said it's amazing fun.

S&c this evening. I am going to be sore tomorrow.

LoudSnoringDog · 07/05/2024 20:45

Please May I join?

just did a 3 mile brisk walk with my dog

buffyslayer · 07/05/2024 20:51

Oh it was vile
I was working on Monday and suddenly started shivering and was Confused took my temp and it was 40c
Doctor said tonsillitis, first antibiotics did nothing so got a different course but by that point my tonsils should have been on that pimple popper programme Grin

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/05/2024 20:59

Welcome @LoudSnoringDog 👋

That sounds awful Buffy. I last had tonsillitis about 20 years ago and I was so sick I had to ring my mum, crying, to take me to the gp 😢 it was a surprise to be diagnosed actually, I'd had my tonsils out 15 years before, but they grew back!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 07/05/2024 22:39

Shred L2 done. Three more before I can switch to L3. Slept really badly last night (DD came in full of teenage angst just as I was about to go to bed) and couldn’t drag myself out of bed this morning, so I did it when I got back from work.

Sorry about the tonsillitis, buffy. That sounds horrible.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 08/05/2024 06:36

Shred L2 done. Managed to get out of bed this morning so that’s something. Two more to go!
