Morning team! Same as last week, taught boxercise, did Pilates and BodyCombat as a participant. (49)

OublietteBravo · 22/04/2024 12:50

So having skived completely last week (due to horizontal hail and thunder and wind), I made myself run in the rain today. Even though I knew it would involve coming back to a cold shower (there was a stream shutdown at the weekend, these always take the hot water out for several days). I managed the 5km loop in under 28 minutes today (but only just: 27 min 57 sec). Pretty pleased with that!

Weather was like that here last week too, Oubliette. Ds and I went for a run after school.

1 hour pilates lesson.

florenceandthemac · 22/04/2024 22:56

Brilliant @OublietteBravo
I've not done a sub 28 min 5k since my half marathon training. Really envy you, well done

73 ✔️
Strength session first thing.
6k run at lunch
45 mins Pilates this evening

Imfreetofeelgood · 23/04/2024 19:22

60 x 25m swim - the pool was very busy, I don't think there was a sq inch I didn't cover, as I tried to avoid people. I'll defo have to practice front crawl, so that I can join the lane swimmers. Pool rule is you have to do every 25m in 30 secs or less, front crawl only.

florenceandthemac · 23/04/2024 19:37

Oh good luck @Imfreetofeelgood, I'm crap at swimming.

74 ✔️
Chest & triceps at lunch, 6k fast walk this evening

roonetta · 23/04/2024 21:18

Well done all! Love the sound of your sea swim/walk/ice cream combo Motherforkin 😃

2 mile WWL done ✅

That's a very fast lane, imfree!

S&c this evening. I'm already sore and I only finished an hour ago 😫

May I rejoin? Just started the Shred again after a long break from exercise thanks to injury and apathy. Day 7 today. I don’t know how to count from the start of the year - I’ve been to a few yoga and Pilates classes but nothing sustained, so I’ll assume I started at zero at the beginning of last week.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 23/04/2024 22:38

Sounds as though everyone is doing very well!

Yes, they only have one lane - Fast Lane! And I already feel like I'm going hell for leather 🤣

Imfreetofeelgood · 24/04/2024 11:10

Hi ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson ! I'm quit new too and haven't been counting. I think I'll start Monthly counts from May. Posting on here is definately motivating me 😊

florenceandthemac · 24/04/2024 11:16

Love that this thread motivates us 👏🏽

roonetta · 24/04/2024 13:37

Hi Professor! Welcome back, so good to see you (figuratively speaking 😁). Shred is one of my absolute favourites. Are you going to do it like it's designed to be done, or are you putting your own spin on it?

This is such a great thread for motivation - no judgement, just encouragement. It's without a doubt the reason I have carried on exercising since starting during lockdown, albeit some years I have done more than others. Previously I would have given up, but I love seeing what everyone is up to on here and all of the goals reached over the year 💖💖

2 mile boosted WWL done ☑️

Nice to see you back Professor.

Swim today. It was really nice and my shoulder didn't start to niggle right til the end.

Hi roonetta and MotherForkin! Nice to see you again. I agree, these threads are very motivating.

I’m doing the Shred pretty much as intended, though I’m only doing 5 sessions a week so it’ll take me six weeks to get through it. Coming to the end of L1 now - last week was really hard and I had to do it with very light weights, but this week has been a bit easier and I’ve increased the weight a bit. I should finish just before half term, then we’re going away and I’ll start something new when we get back. Anyone done any Shaun T?

3.5 mile dog walk and 1 hour pilates class

florenceandthemac · 24/04/2024 21:08

Leg day at lunch.
6.5k run with run club after work
An hour of Pilates this evening (swerved going to my class and did an online class whilst watching the match ⚽️😬)

roonetta · 25/04/2024 07:50

Is Shaun T the Insanity guy @ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson? I have always been a bit intimidated by those workouts so haven't done them. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts, although I think I might be a bit old for that level of exercise now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 25/04/2024 09:27

He is! I’m also quite intimidated but keen to find something I can do in under half an hour before getting DD up for school, and T25 claims to be 25 minutes plus cool down. Shred is perfect but most of Jillian’s are longer.

L1 Day 9 done. Managed one set of full press-ups, which is a significant advance on last week. The downside is that I have to move to L2 next week and I find it by far the hardest.

florenceandthemac · 25/04/2024 11:11

Insanity/Shaun was just too much for me, I just don't enjoy that format of workourt anymore.

@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson If you are looking for shorter but effective workouts, what about Caroline Girvan on Youtube, have you done any of hers before? I do a lot of her workouts, mainly the slower, heavier lifting ones, but she has a lot of 20-30 minute workouts. From memory, her 24 days of Christmas series are all 20 minutes but the programme ensures that every muscle group is covered during the week

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 25/04/2024 11:16

Unfortunately I need stuff on DVD, the TV I use for exercise videos is too old to have effective Internet access and I don't really want to replace it unnecessarily. I've seen Caroline Girvan recommended a lot on these threads, though.

S&c at lunchtime and planning a run with ds later.
I'm no help with the home exercise, I need someone in the room shouting at me 😂
