It’s a beautiful sunny day here (for once), although still very muddy. I ran my usual 5km route in the opposite direction. On balance I think today’s direction was an improvement - the wind direction is worse, but the up hill bits are at a better point in the loop. And I was 37 seconds faster than last week, which seems like a big improvement!

Well done on the run, Oubliette

S&c today.

good run @OublietteBravo and enjoy your S+C @MotherForkinShirtBalls

I taught boxercise last night, was really good. 10 people, and I couldn't be more pleased at how they're getting on. I told them two more classes and I'm going to promote the class from Beginners Boxercise to Intermediate Boxercise and start really clobbering them
I finished up with a BodyCombat style boxing track, which I think most of them preferred to the previous option which was 'do lunges while listening to Alanis Morrrrissssettte'

roonetta · 05/03/2024 11:39

Toothache=dentist x 2 trips=filling=£300 lighter 🙄 together with painting the kitchen at the weekend set me back last week. Hoping to get at least 3 workouts in this week to compensate.

2 mile WWL done ✅

Well done everyone, great effort being put in by all!

Ouch Roonetta, I hope you're not in pain. I have to bring the dog for his dental work next week which will require a full wallet extraction 😭

Shorter swim today. My shoulders were tired after last night's class and the hand paddles I've started using are really working all my vulnerable areas so while it's good to build the muscle, I don't want to injure myself again.

BezMills · 06/03/2024 07:57

Aoutsch @roonetta hopefully you're better now.

@MotherForkinShirtBalls I have paddles too, the best bit for me is when I take them off. The swimming just feels so easy in comparison! Definitely a good tool. For me it really helped the technique too, because it's dead obvious if you have a good hold on the water or not.

florenceandthemac · 06/03/2024 11:27

I'm back in the game 🙌Feeling far more like myself now!
Swerved the 10k race I was supposed to do on Sunday, gutted tbh as I've been dying to do that one, but it was for the best.
But was back to it Monday, yay. Strength class first thing.
Yesterday I did upper body at lunch then a 5k after work.
And today I have my usual Wednesday workouts planned, so fingers crossed.
So 42 so far.

@BezMills Your last two weeks have looked very successful! Hope this week is going as well.
@PawsisShady Same for you. Nice trainers and weights set up!

I'm impressed with your running achievements @OublietteBravo Mine is going backwards 🙃

BezMills · 06/03/2024 11:47

thanks @florenceandthemac it's going really well.

So far I'm still on my first intake from personal contacts and word-of-mouth. I have yet to advertise outside of my FB friends and a couple of local Whatsapp groups. That's a deliberate choice, to get the first lot through beginner training and also to get a feel for what the % attendance is - therefore how many people I can take on.

roonetta · 06/03/2024 13:45

Good idea to take it slower and gently build the muscles up Motherforkin. ❤️

So pleased to hear you are getting more clients Bez I love that for you. Well deserved.

Glad to hear you have your mojo back florence ☺️

Nat Hayward strength workout done ☑️

Yesterday:
Hamstring training followed by 30 min run at lunch.
Then rowing and treadmill sprint intervals in the evening, and my Pilates class.

Today I've got back & biceps at lunch shortly.
Hopefully will be in the gym this evening to do some core, and then some incline walk intervals on the treadmill whilst DS is at footy training.
However this weather is so nice I might just walk outside for the hour

I feel tired just reading that @florenceandthemac ! Amazing work rate

florenceandthemac · 07/03/2024 15:27

It’s probably not quite as intense as it reads @BezMills
I just fit these sessions in over spare half hours/an hour when possible

I'm back. I joined thread a couple of weeks ago, having took early retirement, with determination to get fit again. Had flu for 2 weeks, then got started - then felt my bloody calf "pop" playing football in the garden with my DS, 13. Cue rest, elevation and ice packs. Back to business this week :Mon cautious 3 mile dog walk and 1hr pilates class, Tuesday 44 x 25 m swim, Wednesday 1 hr pilates class, Today 5.5 mile dog walk. Calf is holding up. I'm thrilled I can still swim, as I'm 55 and haven't swam lengths since I was at school 😳Reading everyones achievements is very encouraging - you all sound fabulously fit!

BezMills · 08/03/2024 04:27

@Imfreetofeelgood that is a fantastic start. Swimming walking and pilates is a good mix. You'll really feel the benefits. Enjoy your retirement (am a weensy bit jalous but it will be my turn in 11ish years)

Imfreetofeelgood · 08/03/2024 07:53

BezMills - Thankyou! I've promised myself a year, just for me, with a bit of voluntary work. If I'm feeling poor after that, I might look for a part time job, that you leave behind, when you go home. In terms of fitness, I'm very much on a functional fitness path, feeling good, and avoiding injury (ironically). No high impact as I have O/A in my hips. I felt fabulous all day after my swim. I need to build up speed as I would prefer to 'lane swim' but they only have a fast lane.

florenceandthemac · 08/03/2024 08:33

@Imfreetofeelgood that's amazing, well done. I love that high you have all day from a workout. Enjoy that retirement!

43 ✔️ Been to my strength class. Nearly cancelled, woke up stiff as a board (both muscular from my training this week but also joints/tendons from my arthritis) but I'm glad I went. I avoided deadlifts and probably took it a bit easier with some other things, but I'm definitely not as stiff now and feeling good.
Going to have a chilled weekend, might go to a Pilates class tomorrow but that's about it other than walking.
Happy Friday all

BezMills · 08/03/2024 09:54

I missed BodyCombat last night, I took DD shopping and out for dinner instead. Today I feel like I haven't done my mobility work for a week (err because I haven't) and I need to get on that.

BezMills · 08/03/2024 09:56

Oh yeah I meant to say HAPPY FRIDAY, cheers!
Yesterday was the first anniversary of a friend's death and tonight we are going to a fundraising quiz to raise money for the hospice that cared for him. He was no age at all.
I'm just so grateful to get up every day and at least have the chance to do some exercise (even if sometimes I don't get round to it).
Carpe diem, you lovely lot.

florenceandthemac · 08/03/2024 12:40

Aww @BezMills I hope you have a nice evening

roonetta · 08/03/2024 16:56

So sad Bez. Good luck with the fundraiser. Happy Friday all! ❤️

Imfreetofeelgood · 08/03/2024 19:32
