Hi, I've just retired, and will be focusing on fitness,once my bloody flu shifts. Could someone let me know how this thread works and what the numbers are on people's posts please?

Happy retirement! Sorry you're feeling poorly.

So my number on my posts is how many days I've exercised this year so far.
I can't remember what my goal was 😅 but I think it averages around 5 days a week, but taking into account a couple of weeks holiday this year.

Not everybody wanted to set a target, as it's sometimes too much pressure to be putting on yourself, but we still enjoy the accountability and chat this thread brings

Another option is to set more bite size targets. So maybe set a goal for how many days exercise you're going to do just this month?

Hello @Imfreetofeelgood 👋 you're very welcome to our merry band. As Florence says, we all use this thread differently so hopefully you'll find something useful here. My numbers are simply to keep track of each day I do specific exercise (outside of walking the dog).

I'm so impressed by your run Oubliette. Even when I was running a lot I was slower than you!

I think I might have some sort of dose. Ds has been a bit snotty and his winter asthma is playing up (usually as a result of "a virus") but otherwise fine, but I feel a bit hit by a bus with tiredness. I went to my s&c class this evening and had to take it quite easy. I'll see what a very early night and tomorrow bring.

Hurro everyone. After a very patchy period I feel like I am back! Couldn't get into the gym at lunchtime sadly bit did BodyCombat after then went to the crossfit box with some of the BC team. I ended up doing a few sets of barbell squats.

then I did day one of my 22 Days Pullup Plan. That wasn't too bad, Inverted rows to failure and dead hang to failure. This is an apparently foolproof path to pullups. I can currently do 1!

Was feeling very bleugh going to my class this morning but I managed 6 reps of 55kg deadlift and 4 sets of 25kg good mornings, which is up 5kg on both. It's a long time since I was able to deadlift that much.

That's a 30 minute repeat, Paws? That's tough going. Our last set was a 12 minute stack (2/4/6/8/10/8/6...and back up) of clean and press, Russian twists, renegade row and Dumbell squats. I nearly died by the end!

@MotherForkinShirtBalls it was more exercises but couldn't fit them in the shot. Heaviest weights you could manage

RDL - 5 sets of 8
Reverse lunge - 4 sets of 12
Goblet squat - 4 sets of 12

Then a complex of
Kickstand deadlift, clean, swing
4 sets, 6 of each exercise

Mobility then BodyCombat then Pullups Plan then Squats n Deadlift. Reading that back, no wonder I'm feeling tired right now! I just had a weird feed, two spring rolls with hummus and a wee lump of cheddar. Washed it down with a huel protein shake made up with milk instead of water.

loops that are uphill into the wind do exist. the 5K round Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh is like that too

Swim at lunchtime. I used some hand resistance things which made me slightly faster but nearly killed my triceps off completely! I'm hoping they'll help me rebuild the muscles in behind my shoulder blades so I can start lifting weights overhead again.

I can't do my local Parkrun, Oubliette, it's two loops of a park and is uphill in every direction.
