London Marathon 2024 Ballot Results

Entered the ballot for the 9th year in a row and fully expecting to be unsuccessful, but still excited to hopefully find out the results in the next week or so! It seems to be dragging, although I remember when you had to wait for the result by post in October! Anybody else excitedly/anxiously awaiting an email?

Is it that time already? I'm not sure whether I want a place or not anymore. Not sure I'd want to do Edinburgh. Too hilly and there's usually a really big headwind.

I’ve got a charity place for this year. Entered for the ballot too tho and was the same..wondering when the places would be out!

It does seem to be dragging….

I’ve just checked the main website and it says they will email everyone with ballot results on Thursday 6th July!

I've just worked out that if I train really hard and get a good enough time in the half marathon I am doing in autumn, I should be in with a chance of a guaranteed Championship entry! I'd forgotten about those.

My running club friend got a charity place today so I'd love to be able to train with her... We shall see! Ballot would be good too. Less pressure than a ridiculous HM time!

I've done Edinburgh 4 times and it's not hilly AT ALL. it's where most runners get a PB!

Not too long to go! It's July in just over 3 hours

Bit naughty of them to promise us late June then keep us dangling to 6/07

But I'm in for what is currently Schroedinger's marathon. I think I've got the will to do the training properly if I'm lucky. Really would like a shot at it

Just seen on theor website that GFA entry doesn't open until late August!

Well, if you score a ballot place, you don't need a GFA. And that takes a bit of pressure off GFA, which is now over-subscribed.

(Or can you not apply for both?)

Well, it's two months after they first said it opens so that's annoying.

I've entered the ballot but don't fancy my chances. I'm away when GFA entry opens.

Manchester is great if you want a UK city marathon. I really enjoyed it, it was varied, mostly flat and a great community atmosphere.

I was the same ....but the TS email was a bit confusing yesterday. I was expecting to get a code....but I got an email saying I might get a code by 14th July....
At least today will be yes or no, probably no!!

Anyone know if the send off all the "yes" emails first?

Or if they go by some other sorting system - alphabet, order application received, whether bequeathed to second ballot?

Or if they just make it as random as possible just to frustrate people?

It’s not done manually. It’s half a million emails, I’m sure they are just plugged into a system and filter through as and when

Exactly - but what is that filter? Is there an order to it?

I'm (impatiently) trying to work out that if they've started to send the "no" emails, then that's it, all the "yes" would have already been sent

No, I think it’s completely random.
