Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Happy Saturday all! DH and I had written off Parkrun when we opened the second bottle of wine last night, but we ended up getting up and going anyway so especially proud of us.

Absolutely threw it down during the briefing but dried up quick.

megletthesecond · 01/04/2023 16:49

Usual local parkrun again this week. Wet and muddy.
I've decided I'm not running properly and need to sort it out. I was barely muddy when I finished, everyone else was covered with splashes to their knees. I don't think I kick my legs back enough, I totter around.

MirandaWest · 01/04/2023 20:17

I did a 10k race last night so had deliberately volunteered for parkrun this morning - was timekeeping. Did good timekeeping 😊

Iwanttoquitthegym · 01/04/2023 22:22

Parkrun tourism at a very, hilly, wet and squelchy one today. I’ve done it before and this time had my waterproof socks and trail shoes!!

miked99 · 08/04/2023 02:51

I was back at Curl Curl today after 2 weeks absence due to my sons football clashing ...it was cool and clear , perfect weather for running , not that it made any difference to my time. There were a lot of tourists from the UK as well as interstate Australia, I guess its Easter holidays, so good luck to anyone touristing today
I got date bingo, but missed position and stopwatch bingo by one, I should have started my finishing sprint sooner !

Great to hear you’re back at parkrun @miked99 , I’ve missed your early morning (for us) updates! I’m up early so I can get the dog walked before a bit of localish parkrun tourism.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/04/2023 10:53

Good to see you again @miked99

We’re on holiday this weekend. We come here quite regularly so I’ve done most of the local parkruns. Tried a new one this morning, without realising that it was a Nelson so lots of other tourists. I’m still recovering from a HM last weekend so took it easy today

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 08/04/2023 17:14

Back to one of my locals today - nice to see some familiar faces.

HouseofHolbein · 08/04/2023 18:36

Hobbled round with my husband and my dodgy knee in 36 minutes so happy with that 😊 RD again in a couple of weeks so that'll be fun 😊 lots of tourists which was brilliant love our numbers being boosted

NatMoz · 08/04/2023 19:24

Managed Fountains Abbey today. Wow what a beautiful parkrun! It was absolutely gorgeous 😍. The views were breathtaking! We spent the day there, ended up spending 8 hours in total! We all loved it as a family.

I've done maybe 50% of Stopwatch Bingo but the last...5 weeks I've had duplicates which has been frustrating.

Cornishmumofone · 08/04/2023 22:52

I got a PB! Not a 'real' one as I'm 4:30 off that, but an event PB at an event I've done 12 times in the last 5 years. It was a season's best and my fastest time since December 2019. I'm feeling so pleased 😊

@NatMoz i did fountains abbey this week too 😃 (if you saw a multicoloured middle aged woman with a green t shirt and a red skort then it may well have been me!

Fountains Abbey is one of my very favourite places and I enjoy the parkrun there too (were about an hour away so I do it every few months). I’m even getting better at the (admittedly small) hills - where I live it is flat.

I did see someone in a skort and thought how fancy it looked! I can't remember the colour though! People from my running club have them from Tikiboo!

Two men just ahead of me shared pushing a woman in a wheelchair! My husband and baby were spectators near the half moon lake and he said the wheelchair woman was seriously rattling about! I don't think wheelchairs are particularly made for running 🤣.

Fountains Abbey is now my favourite parkrun as there was so much to see at every turn and not particularly hilly compared to my local ones! Lyme Park is a NT one near me. It's a one lapper but still the hardest one I've done so far! Although I am due to do Watergrove in Rochdale in May and that is supposed to be a toughy!

MirandaWest · 11/04/2023 21:46

I saw the person being pushed in a wheelchair - I was near them the first lap where it goes up the hill near the end - the pushers had just stopped at that point. Looked very hard work!

I love skorts - mine are by a company called Flanci and I have a lot of them 😳😃

How lovely that two of you were at the same parkrun last week!

I am volunteering tomorrow. DH thinks I'm a bit mad, as I'm trying to line up my 50th volunteer credit with my 250th run (I'm on 46/247). I think it's perfectly normal parkrunner behaviour.

CalmConfident · 15/04/2023 05:04

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree Combining milestones is perfectly normal parkrun planning !!! 😀

I am excited as DS1 is running tomorrow morning (as his usual Sat sport season has finished). He is aiming for a PB ☺️ I’ll be powerwalking, looking forward to seeing him zoom past me on his 2nd lap !

QueSyrahSyrah · 15/04/2023 07:29

Morning! Beautiful day here, we're up with a coffee and ready to go. DH's 25th Parkrun today so he's going for a PB, but first time in ages a friend and I have both attended the same event so probably a slow chatty one for me.

Totally normal Parkrun behaviour!

I manipulated both my 50/100 milestones to fall on special events Smile

miked99 · 15/04/2023 08:47

A friend is after some tourist runs, so we went to Mosman this morning.
It was a beautiful morning after a rainy week and I felt good, but ran a couple of minutes slower than normal - go figure !
I got date bingo but won't be running again for a few weeks as my son has football games that clash. Hope everyone running or volunteering has a good day

Beautiful morning here for an RD stint at my home parkrun. DD did her first ever timekeeping duty and all went smoothly.

NatMoz · 15/04/2023 19:30

Another tourist event for me today. This time Buxton for my 26th event/47th parkrun.

Travelled with my running friend and we were discussing a European city break to bag our Z for Alphabet Challenge (and Namely for me😱). Love a city break and an excuse to leave husband with the baby for a weekend🤣.

We're looking at either Zuiderpark in the Netherlands or Zielony Jar (sp?) near Krakow.

Yorkshiregold · 15/04/2023 21:41

Home parkrun for me today, felt like a struggle but I bagged stopwatch bingo, only two numbers left to go!

LizziesTwin · 19/04/2023 18:25

Today’s a good day to check your park run’s volunteer roster…

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/04/2023 20:30

I have volunteered to tail walk this weekend. It’s usually really popular but was still empty when I look last night. Which will take me to 48/248😀
