Parkrunners Assemble - reviving the thread that will remind you "do not forget you barcode"

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

I'm RD this week 😊

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/04/2023 15:38

Cold this morning at my home parkrun. Nice mix of chatting with familiar faces at the start and new people out on the course.

NatMoz · 24/04/2023 12:43

I didn't make it to parkrun this week but will be attending my local one on Saturday to celebrate a 250th and 2 100 parkruns!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/04/2023 07:08

Off to my home parkrun this morning for a couple of birthday and milestone celebrations. As it's the last Saturday of the month it's also 5K your way.

Tried my hand at token sorting today after this morning’s run. Lovely day to be out in the woods and then some nice chat over the tokens.

Yorkshiregold · 29/04/2023 14:00

Lovely sunny run at my home parkrun today. Feeling relaxed with two bank holiday weekends ahead!

miked99 · 06/05/2023 04:19

My son had a later kickoff for football today so I managed to get to Curl Curl for their 10th Anniversary run. We had 491 finishers and lots of fancy dress, with cake at the end or fruit for the well behaved. I had cake.
I ran my normal pace but got my 100 Club at Curl Curl and Date Bingo as well so I'm very happy all round.
Good luck to everyone running or volunteering today

My home PR has been cancelled as there are coronation events taking place in the park so I’m going to a substitute. Can’t be bothered to tourist so I’m going to my regular fallback.

BogRollBOGOF · 06/05/2023 15:52

I've lost my fastest 5k rank in the family. I took it easy and did a 31-32 min run having done a hilly 10k yesterday, and DH and DS 10 smashed into the 27s.

Oh how I'm looking forwards to that 11th birthday!

At least I'm safe on best marathon time...

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/05/2023 16:44

Lots of red white and blue on the course this morning - good way to start coronation day. I got another stopwatch bingo - only ten more to go.

Yorkshiregold · 06/05/2023 17:28

Soggy home parkrun with no new achievements on the 5k app for me today.
How did your age grade scores compare @BogRollBOGOF?
Hooray for stopwatch bingo @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun , I’ve only got 2 left but haven’t hit one for ages!

BogRollBOGOF · 06/05/2023 19:14

Our age gradings were:
Me 48.31% (45.35 last week)
DH 53.54% (he's a different age range as well as being VM)
DS 57.71% he's towards the top of JM10, but is held back by responsible adult speed. We have "tested" him on a park run course at 25½ mins with me chasing him on a scooter, so he's got more potential that we just can't unleash at present.

Having got my marathon ticked off, I'm working on speed now (hence tired to max out today as milage building back to normal after recovery) I'm hoping I can break my pb in the not too distant future. I was in sniffing distance of it last week.

NatMoz · 06/05/2023 19:41

My husband is working in Germany so i had the car for a change (usually if he's away in the UK i have no car all weekend) so did my first buggy run at one that is half way between my house and my parents!

I did it 5 mins slower than the last time but I didn't have to push a lump up the hill!

Next week is my 50th parkrun and it'll be at one of the top ten hardest parkruns in the country! Pain is pleasure🤣

LizziesTwin · 07/05/2023 07:00

I was first woman in my age group and had a ranking in the mid 60s but my run was part of a training run so I actually messed up and ran a bit faster than planned. I had to keep reminding myself that my goal was to hit my target pace, not run hard. I’m in an age group which is split between very proficient runners & women who mainly walk, if the speedy runners aren’t there as there’s a race I do well.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/05/2023 07:03

Morning all! Visiting my parents today so will be doing some tourism. I have a few in my sights, depending on the traffic and how far I have got by 8:30.

NatMoz · 13/05/2023 11:37

Ran my 50th today at Watergrove in Rochdale. Was my 27th tourism location and it was the toughest one I've done (harder than Lyme Park!) but with it being such a sunny day the views were amazing!

They gave out coffee, vimto and pastries at the end which was lovely!

Yorkshiregold · 13/05/2023 12:15

Ran my home one today and finally got Groundhog Day achievement, so feeling very pleased with myself!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/05/2023 18:58

Congratulations on your 50th @NatMoz !

Well done on your groundhog @Yorkshiregold

I ended up at Beacon Hill this morning - apparently it's the highest point in Leicestershire, and boy did I find out about that - the first mile is all uphill, the second is undulating, and the third is all downhill. Really gorgeous trail and loads of bluebells to admire.

LizziesTwin · 16/05/2023 12:36

I did Woodhouse Moor which gave me a W and loads of other achievements. It was in the middle of a slow 8km run so no records.

LizziesTwin · 16/05/2023 12:36

I was the tourist who’d travelled the furthest.

QueSyrahSyrah · 20/05/2023 07:52

Morning All! Lovely day for it here, hope you've got the same. Don't forget your barcode!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/05/2023 12:04

Morning all! Gorgeous day here too. I volunteered this morning, then ran around the park afterwards. Was great seeing all the runners today- we are a 2.5 lapper, so you see everyone go past a couple of times.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 20/05/2023 13:47

Beautiful day here too for my turn to RD.

Yorkshiregold · 20/05/2023 15:24

Thank you to our volunteers! Gorgeous day here too. I got a date bingo today so pleased with that.

The adult doesn't have to be your or his dad. Do you know someone who could run with him? A friend used to run with his friends daughter as she was too fast for her parents.
