Parkrunners Assemble - reviving the thread that will remind you "do not forget you barcode"

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

We're in a hot spell in Sydney at the moment so Parkrun was very humid and my knee was sore not long after the start so unpleasant all round.
My son however beat his PB by about 40 seconds and is absolutely delighted.

Hope everyone has a good run or volunteer

Morning All! Lovely sunny Parkrun done with what I hope is a slightly better time than last time. BLT done.

Happy Saturday all.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/03/2023 11:16

Congratulations to mini @miked99 !

I would have had my fastest parkrun in almost a year today. Unfortunately my official time will be several minutes slower than my actual time as I got there late, couldn’t find a parking space, missed the start and had to sprint to catch up with the tail walker. Oh well, there’s always next week.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 18/03/2023 11:30

Home parkrun today with lots of volunteer milestone celebrations. I was on first timers brief so met the newbies and got to run it. Nice chat on the way round too. A great morning.

Cornishmumofone · 18/03/2023 13:23

@miked99 Zillmere is my long term goal. My sister moved to Brisbane (from Wollongong) just after I last visited her. I managed to fit in Shellharbour and North Wollongong... and Orange, Cowra and Bathurst by my brother. Sadly, Mount Isa parkrun started after my visit there.

I struggled around a nearby parkrun as part of 20 miles today... but I managed to get a PB as my only other visit there involved a slow walk.

I ran parkrun on Saturday at my local after a good 2 weeks or so off due to baby lurgy spreading through our house.

I was a pacer and did a terrible job of it. Got distracted chatting to someone and ended up being 48 secs slower than my pacing time🙈.

Please forgive me! Feel like I don't deserve my volunteer credit

parkrunner1977 · 20/03/2023 17:09

We weren't fit for parkrun this weekend unfortunately😖 That was mainly due to our one pint of Guinness to celebrate St Patrick's Day (my husband is Irish) at 6pm Friday evening turning into numerous pints and stumbling home quite drunk at 11.30pm! It was good fun though 😉 😂☘🍻

Morning! I'm RD today 😊 our latest group of c25k's are graduating today so very exciting!

Good luck everyone 😊

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 25/03/2023 08:23

Morning - really excited to be running somewhere beautiful from my childhood this morning, also my 20th different event which I believe is ‘a thing’.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/03/2023 08:48

I’m touring this morning, visiting another parkrun between my home and my parents. It breaks up the journey nicely.

NatMoz · 25/03/2023 11:40

I ran Oldham Parkrun this morning, collected my O for Alphabet Challenge and turns out my Old MacDonald challenge haha!

Ran my fastest this year too

MintJulia · 25/03/2023 11:44

I ran Newbury this morning. I haven't run much in the last six weeks. I don't run if the ground is frozen.

Iit was very blustery, strong breeze from the west making it slow going. I doubt anyone will have managed a PB. Heavens opened at 4k so I'm just pleased I finished 😊

Yorkshiregold · 25/03/2023 14:32

@HouseofHolbein Hope your C25K graduates did well this morning.

I love running a new course, hope you enjoyed it @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun @OhOneOhTwoOhThree @NatMoz.

@MintJulia I’ve done Newbury once quite a few years ago.

I ran my local one this morning but am planning a bit of tourism for next week.

MirandaWest · 25/03/2023 14:35

I did a bit of touristing today - did my NENDY which was Goole. Nice proper park - was a bit wIndy in some of it - looking at my splits I think the 2nd and 4th km were the windy ones!

Was happy with my time of 31:04 as wasn’t pushing too much and could have done more and felt comfortable.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 25/03/2023 15:10

It was just so beautiful and emotional this morning. I thoroughly recommend running somewhere with fond memories attached. It was really hilly and yet I was pleased with my time (around 35 mins) but the tail walker was next over the line! Maybe all the hills scare the walkers etc away.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/03/2023 23:27

Well done all. I enjoyed today's touristing, very different o to my usual course, with more hills and trails. I set off slowly but sped up as I went along. Only date bingo and Freyne/Cowell today.

Where was this location!? It must have been a teeny tiny group of parkrunners if 35 mins is the slowest!!!!

Yes 20 events is a thing! There is a fb group you can join and if you wish you can buy a buff with a cow on it so when parkrunning in the future you can spot each other🤣.

Cow due to a person (surname Cowell) was the first to reach 100 different events 🤣. All very silly but i love it!

There were just over 50 of us. It was in the UK but not England - sorry don’t want to lose my mumsnet anonymity by saying exactly where.

I have joined the facebook group - feel part of an exclusive club now 😉

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 01/04/2023 10:27

A new (to me) seafront parkrun this morning - a flat course and still conditions today so I was pleased with my time.

HouseofHolbein · 01/04/2023 11:36

Volunteered today 😊 reckon I clapped 5k 🤣🤣

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/04/2023 12:07

I also volunteered today, lots of clapping and cheering and telling people to stay in order (I was funnel manager).

On holiday next weekend so will be touring although probably repeating one of the ones we've done before (not many choices where we are going).

Saw a couple of cow buffs today, although one of them was from my NENDY, so hadn't come awfully far. They are a nice way of spotting visitors.

LizziesTwin · 01/04/2023 12:25

Ran & token sorted today, was so cold and wet by the end I was shaking. Bring on summer!

NatMoz · 01/04/2023 12:45

I attended a new Parkrun today (Event 4). My god the hills. Was so happy to see the end funnel🤣🤣🤣.

Long weekend in Harrogate next weekend so hoping to do Fountains Abbey!

Fountains Abbey is a lovely one, hope you manage to get there @NatMoz

Yorkshiregold · 01/04/2023 14:53

I did some touristing and got a “U” for my alphabet. It was a flat course so I thought I might get a 2023 best time but I set off too fast, I never learn! The last 2k was hard.
Enjoyed it though, I love a new course!

Agreed, Fountains Abbey is a great one.
