Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

It was a pacer day today at Curl Curl , and I'm a little bit faster than one of the pacer times, so I spent a lot of the run looking back to make sure I was ahead of them.
It worked, as I did my best time this year and put in a sprint finish to pass a few people in the last few metres. Unfortunately there was a bit of a queue to collect tokens and someone who finished behind didn't realise and just came past a couple of us and grabbed a token out of the volunteers hand.
I wouldn't have minded as my time wasn't affected it meant I didn't get position bingo !
Still if that's all I have to complain about it can't be that bad.

Hope everyone else has a great run/volunteer too

Happy Running everyone! I was looking forward to it after my best time in aaaages last week but I've woken up with blocked sinuses and a dry cough so DH is (probably sensibly) insisting I stay in bed, especially since it's freezing and windy here.

I will have to run vicariously through everyone else!

HouseofHolbein · 25/02/2023 08:06

Morning! Off to parkrun this morning before I head to work 😊 RD next week first time in ages!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 25/02/2023 11:09

My home event’s anniversary today so a bit of a party feel. It was freezing 🥶 but maybe that made me run faster and so I got a post lockdown course PB.

HouseofHolbein · 25/02/2023 11:13

Apparently it was my 150th run at my home parkrun today 😊 I celebrated by doing my fastest time since last August 👍

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/02/2023 12:13

Morning parkunners!

Well done on out pacing the pacers @miked99 ! I had to stick my arm out to stop someone barging past in the funnel this morning, as the funnel manager was shouting "stay in order".

Hope you feel better soon @QueSyrahSyrah . Probably wise to stay at home - it was really cold here this morning.

Well done @HouseofHolbein and @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun - great stuff.

I had my fastest run since last May, when I was marathon fit. Not sure if it was the cold, the wind behind me or the glass of wine I had last night but somehow everything clicked into place. Today is also my parkrun birthday - 11 years since I nervously turned up for my first one clutching my paper bar code and not knowing what to expect.

LizziesTwin · 26/02/2023 16:43

I missed mine as I did a race. Feel a bit cheated that all this race series are on Saturday mornings.

Yorkshiregold · 04/03/2023 13:03

Morning parkrunners. I got an unexpected PB on my home course this morning. I think it was because it was so cold & I just wanted to get back to my car! How was your run/volunteer if you made it to an event this morning?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 04/03/2023 16:21

Well done Yorkshiregold. I was Run Directing this morning. Getting more used to it now and had a fun morning.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/03/2023 17:39

Well done @Yorkshiregold !

I was token handed-outer this morning. It was cold but stayed dry at least. Then we celebrated a 250th with cake.

Yorkshiregold · 05/03/2023 07:34

Thanks @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun , impressed that you RD. I would like to try it one day but at the minute need to dash off after running to get DD to her sports club.

Also thanks @OhOneOhTwoOhThree , I am always v pleased to see the token gander outer as it means I’ve finished!

HouseofHolbein · 05/03/2023 13:56

I was RD yesterday 😊 have a bucket of tokens in my living room ready to go back 🤣🤣

miked99 · 11/03/2023 00:34

It's very humid in Sydney at the moment, so unpleasant to run in, though I'll take that over the snow you are having in the UK any time, but I need an excuse for not running a good time today.

A couple of weeks ago someone cut in line for finish tokens and denied me a Position Bingo, but this week in the last 20 metres I caught and overtook a young girl.. but waved her on to get the token first as we'd have the same time.
Well I got Position Bingo as a result , which I wouldn't have otherwise , so karma I guess. I got Date Bingo too

I've just realised that if I hadn't been mean and passed her at the finish I'd have got Position Bingo anyway - I won't think too hard about that

Have a good run / volunteer everyone

A sea front parkrun today with wind, rain and waves splashing us. No way I would have been out in it without parkrun and it a fun morning.

Cornishmumofone · 11/03/2023 10:54

I managed my fastest time since December 2019! I feel so pleased that I'm finally getting quicker again. Only another 5 minutes to take off to get a PB!

parkrunner1977 · 11/03/2023 11:13

Today was my 6 year anniversary of doing parkrun and my 201st run. I ran my fastest time this year so far, was pleased with that although I am still way way off where I was pre Covid. Only managed to get a Prime number today, was annoyingly 1 place off a position bingo due to overtooking someone in the final 100 metres 😖

parkrunner1977 · 11/03/2023 11:14

*overtaking!

Yorkshiregold · 11/03/2023 12:19

@miked99 I really struggle with running in the heat/humidity, I think I prefer the cold.
@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun I’ve done over 200 parkruns but still haven’t done one along a seafront, it’s one of my targets for 2023.
@Cornishmumofone Well done! It’s so satisfying when you feel yourself getting fitter & faster. I’m not sure I’ll ever get back to my 2015 PB but I’m back running as quick as I was 5 years ago & getting close to my age grade best.
@parkrunner1977 Happy anniversary! & boo to your sprint finish denying you position bingo!

Date bingo for me today on my home course. Thinking about planning a bit of tourism in the next few months if I can fit some in around family commitments.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/03/2023 13:55

Well done to all!

@miked99 it's always nice to see your posts before heading off to parkrun here. Well done. Humid doesn't sound fun.

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun - seafront sounds great! We are planning a long weekend away next month and I already have my eye on a seaside parkrun.

@Cornishmumofone well done on a speedy run!

@parkrunner1977 happy parkrun birthday!

@Yorkshiregold - date bingo for me too. Not quite as fast as two weeks ago, but overall trending faster. After some awful weather earlier in the week we had sunshine this moron, though still blooming cold.

ScottishBeth · 12/03/2023 08:38

Hi everyone! I've just read the thread - I'm not a parkrunner at the moment, I went a few times years ago. But I've just started C25k (again) and will head back to parkrun when I can run for more than a minute.

But I am just posting to ask what is the 5K app?

ScottishBeth · 12/03/2023 08:41

Oh no! That will teach me! I found the app on Play Store. (In my defence I had googled previously.)

CalmConfident · 12/03/2023 09:22

I walk/ran last week but it aggravated my dodgy hip..so back to walking yesterday. I think I need to do c25k so have some structure.

unexpected sunny morning though after the dire weather ☺️ Love seeing everyone’s updates

CalmConfident · 12/03/2023 09:24

5k app is great, it’s given me new goals not just finish time…my PBs days are long gone (pb at home run set in 2014 😂)

miked99 · 12/03/2023 09:55

@CalmConfident its great isn't it.
Alphabeteer has some friends and I planning trips away to places with unusual names every few weeks. Zillmere in Brisbane is a long term goal, it must get so many tourists compared to the runs near it

It's been a good weekend here, ran a pleasing 30 mins yesterday (solo) then on barcodes at juniors today.

Lovely and mild today, although it did warm up quite rapidly yesterday!
