Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

We're in the Netherlands this weekend and doing their extra day tomorrow. Another country tucked off

CalmConfident · 19/05/2024 20:18

In the Netherlands too @ southcountry 😊

Where were you? We were at Zegerplas and Beatrixpark

CalmConfident · 20/05/2024 17:44

zuiderpark then Beatrixpark ☺️

CalmConfident · 20/05/2024 17:44

we had a great time, hope you did too!

SouthCountryGirl · 21/05/2024 09:08

It was brilliant! So nice to meet up with friends

miked99 · 25/05/2024 00:45

Cold but clear morning in Sydney today meant numbers were down from the recent average. But that didn't slow down the times of the people at the front, the first place finisher took just 15 minutes 44 seconds. It amazes me that people can run that fast and look so relaxed and nod hello as they cross those of us going about half that speed. And apparently the Parkrun record is about 2 minutes faster again.

Anyway I was reasonably happy with my modest time, but didn't get anything new on the 5K app

Have a good run or volunteer everyone

Fastest time at home this year

RunningAndSinging · 25/05/2024 20:31

Well done. A new parkrun for me on my way for a half term trip. Really beautiful and lots of friendly people there. Another step towards the Cowell Club.

Anawi · 08/06/2024 13:59

I had gone off the boil a bit with parkrun since we went away over Easter but last week my son and I went to a parkrun new to us (monsal trail) and he got a pb over 3mins off his time, so that has spurred us on. 🤣 We went to another new one today Brierley Forest, he struggled a bit this morning with a sore leg, so no records broken today, but we made it round. I'm enjoying the extra time just with my son 🙂

SouthCountryGirl · 08/06/2024 15:11

A pb for me today

RunningAndSinging · 08/06/2024 17:10

Back to my home parkrun today - it was my 75th time there so 3/4 of the way to a single ton.

Well done! 75 seems so many to me! I suppose I'm just starting out still. I always see everyone with their big milestones and can't imagine how long it must take.

RunningAndSinging · 08/06/2024 18:19

If you go most weeks the numbers keep rolling up. You will hit your 25 before you know it. I am counting both volunteer and running ‘attendances’ for this one (single ton - 100 attendances at a particular parkrun) if that makes a difference….

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/06/2024 20:59

@Anawi I really liked Brierley Forest when I visited last year. As @RunningAndSinging says you'll soon clock up a milestone.

I was at home today after quite a bit of travel. Nice to reconnect with parkrun buddies and have a coffee in the sunshine afterwards. I got a stopwatch bingo but no other excitement.

Edited

Yes I suppose you're right, we're quite new to it all I suppose once you get in the habit of going regularly it clocks up quickly.

I had to change the settings to exclude volunteering on my 5k app from the challenges because if I include our weekly volunteering at the local junior parkrun it keeps wiping out my (small but keen to keep it up) 5k tourist streak 🤣🙈 That app gets addictive fast!

Yes I liked it, it was a wet, soggy day so quite muddy and they said they were running their winter course but I enjoyed it. Gentle ups and downs through the forest and by the lake. I'd be keen to go back on a brighter day and see their summer course.

CalmConfident · 10/06/2024 07:47

Brierley is special to me - lovely people ☺️

CalmConfident · 10/06/2024 07:50

A home parkrun for me but my fastest time since injury in Oct 2022. Volunteered at juniors yesterday and several people said …ooo…you were fast on Sat..which was lovely and encouraging after walking for so long.

Ahh that's nice that people recognised your improvement 🙂 like you said, very encouraging.

A new junior parkrun started bear ua a few weeks ago, this Sunday was the 5th one. We have been with our three children every week so far, OH and I have volunteered the last 4 and the children were given volunteer credits for helping set up this week. I don't always like the early start on a Sunday but it is a lovely thing for us to all be able to do together and I'm hoping it encourages them all to continue to be active.

On the other hand, Saturday this morning, I woke up, snarled at my alarm and went back to sleep 🙈 no parkrun for me this Saturday!

SouthCountryGirl · 17/06/2024 20:09

Fastest time this year! Nowhere near as fast as I was a few years ago but it's great seeing progress.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/06/2024 00:19

Fastest course time for me which was nice. It's a local-ish one I haven't done for a while. Strava seemed to think I only ran 4.92 km though, which is a bit annoying!

I trust the Parkrun official trundlewheeler, and I'm sure I didn't cut any corners so goodness knows where that 80 m went.

Trees? They can affect the distance

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/06/2024 16:12

It could very well be that, there is a copse you go through. I think I have only done it in autumn/winter before so it might not be a problem when less leafy.🥬
