Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

A friend was going to their NENDY this morning so we were tourists at Menai in Southern Sydney which features two laps of an out and back including a far bit of elevation gain thanks to a pedestrian bridge over a road that you cross 4 times.
I was about a minute slower than my home course thanks to all the twists and turns, but was pleased to come in the top half of finishers.

Just Date Bingo and a new event for me

Good luck to everybody going to an event today

Went to my NENDY which was a one lap course with various ups and downs and dofferent surfaces as well as twists and turns! Walked up some parts of the hills so was pleased with my time of a little over 30 minutes.

Had done a parkrun on this date before 5 years ago so all I got was new parkrun done as no time or position bingo 😃

RunningAndSinging · 20/04/2024 17:17

I went to a local flat parkrun where I haven’t been for ages and ran my first continuous 5k in a few months (after having a bit of an injury). Sadly gave myself a blister but otherwise it was great to be out there again. I have definitely lost some fitness but I have a training plan so hoping to get my time down again over the next few months.

Literally nothing on the 5 k app today not even date bingo but beautiful weather , great views, familiar faces and a lovely breakfast after - good times.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/04/2024 18:31

No achievements for me either this morning - we are on holiday so I was touristing, but as it's somewhere we go regularly it was not a new parkrun for me. It was cold and windy and not very well attended, so I had an unusually low finish position this week.

I actually flew to Ireland for the day on Saturday with maybe 20 from my running club. We went to Malahide which was the first Parkrun in Ireland! Was great fun!

miked99 · 27/04/2024 02:20

It was pacer day at my local parkrun, so I picked the one for my target time and tried to stay with them, but dropped about a minute behind them, only to find I finished about 10 seconds inside my target. I guess the GPS on their watch was out.

Just Date Bingo for me

Good luck to everyone running or volunteering today

First park run back since chemo - and I am going to a new park run today. My old one currently has some quite negative associations with it from struggling around it when I was ill. Its funny how these associations stick. Hopefully get some improved times in, and then I will return to my old run with happier memories

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/04/2024 08:46

Hope your return goes well @tomorrowisanotherdate. Do you have 5K your way where you are?

Well done @miked99. I’m touring relatively locally today, en route elsewhere. There were some people wandering around in nightwear when I arrived so I wondered for a moment if it was fancy dress but everyone else is in running gear. Phew!

Thank you for asking. I completed it in 37 minutes, which is about 10 minutes off my best time, and under current circumstances, I am very happy with it.

how about you?

stormonasummerseve · 27/04/2024 12:34

Anyone here by any chance go to a park run in Paris?
I'm keen to but anxious!

That's brilliant - l did 37 minutes too but my shoelace came undone and another runner fell over behind me so l stopped to make sure she was ok. Hopefully will be a bit better next week!

The French parkruns are all paused due to red tape - you need a doctor’s certificate to take part in an organised activity over there.

Well done everyone. I had a good run today and raised my P index to 6 which I am pleased about as I had been targeting the P index for a long time. I am more rooted in my home parkrun now though and am not that keen on the other local ones that I would need to keep going back to get 7, 8 or 9. Maybe it will happen organically but I will take the 6 for today 🎉

As the pp said, they are currently suspended, but there are moves to reinstate them, probably after the Paris Olympics.

I also think there will be further changes to the stats that parkrun provides - eg that they remove the results tables altogether, and people just get an email with their time and age grading. If they do that, they should fall within the French rules anyway.

stormonasummerseve · 27/04/2024 15:20

Wow had no idea! I'll stick to my local runs and keep an eye on it. Thanks PPs

miked99 · 04/05/2024 01:01

It's been raining heavily for a few days in Sydney and most kids sport is cancelled due to wet pitches including my sons. As our local run is very low lying we touristed today. Paths were wet and it was a little slippy on the hills and there were loads of young kids eager to burn off some energy but I managed to avoid tripping and finished about mid way with a decent time.

Have a good run or volunteer everyone

Lovely sunny morning for a home parkrun today with a Star Wars theme.

IVFlife · 05/05/2024 22:46

Hello all. How was your weekend? I got a course pb for the 2nd week in a row. I'm not fast just now its just a course I only do when I'm feeling slow!! I volunteered at juniors this morning and it was lovely. Considering some local tourism next week.

CalmConfident · 06/05/2024 10:03

I ran a little bit for the first time in over 18 months(I’ve been power walking) , getting a sub 40 time. Encouraged by the random chap shouting “may the 4th be with you “ in the last 1k 😁

miked99 · 11/05/2024 08:33

Still pouring down in Sydney for the 11th Birthday of Curl Curl Parkrun this morning So a lower turnout than normal as we splashed around the course and had cup cakes at the end. The Athletes foot were there letting people try out bright Orange Saucony running shoes for the event which they would have had returned wet and muddy , so I've no idea what they will do with them.
I only got Date Bingo
Have a good run or volunteer everyone

A tourist run for me by the sea. Venue number 31 and a reasonable time considering the heat and I stopped to take a photo as it was so pretty.

Well done! I was boiling today on my tourist run. Had to sit for a bit before getting scanned

MirandaWest · 11/05/2024 19:07

Meant to go touristing today but slept through the alarm! So went off to my home parkrun. Was just over 29 minutes which I was happy with as since doing a half marathon in March I’ve been a bit out of sorts with my running. Was rather warm today! Must have done a parkrun 5 years ago as the only achievement I got was getting nearer to doing 100 parkruns at one venue (am up to 72 at my home one now).

Will try a bit harder to do my 39th venue next week but as I’m meeting up with other people this will hopefully help a bit!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/05/2024 19:57

I was one of many tourists at Sence Valley today. Lovely course through the woods listening to the birds - hard to believe that it used to be an open cast coal mine. Nice and close to the M1 too.

RunningAndSinging · 18/05/2024 17:12

Whoo hoo - another stopwatch bingo number. Just 5 to go… lovely sunning morning here before the rain started this afternoon.
