Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Did my NENDY today - four downhills and "only" three uphills. The wind was against us on the uphills though! Managed to get position bingo - discovered looking back that I ran on this date in 2013 when it was in a raging snowstorm which was one of the more bizarre parkruns I've ever done :)

Anawi · 23/03/2024 18:36

We're on holiday in NZ at the moment. Did the Hagley park parkrun yesterday with my husband and son. It was a beautiful morning and lovely atmosphere great to be there. Was a bit of a slow one as my son was struggling with his asthma, but didn't matter, just nice to be there. Hoping we'll manage to fit another parkrun in whilst we're here. I'm not sure if we will be able to face the heat to do it in Singapore on the way home 🥵🔥

miked99 · 24/03/2024 02:20

Congratulations on your NENDY @MirandaWest how far away is your next one?

@Anawi that's a long trip to Christchurch, there can't be many places on land further away from the UK

I was a pacer today, so got a volunteer credit while doing a run as well. The GPS on my phone was a bit out so had to adjust my pace at every Km marker, but it didn't matter as no one seemed to be running for my time anyway.
Got Stopwatch Bingo and Date Bingo too

Have a good run everyone

@miked99 Yay, hooray for date and stopwatch bingo! I have paced a couple of times and find it slightly stressful. I try to be a little bit ahead of time then encourage anyone who is anywhere near to pass me when I get near to the end.
I’m just planning on having a steady jog round my home course and will also pick up a date bingo.

woolwich park run cancelled today, little boy fell of the Thames path and drowned 😥so the path is closed

NatMoz · 30/03/2024 06:08

I'm away due to bank holidays so going to Talkin Tarn Parkrun this morning!

CalmConfident · 30/03/2024 06:36

I’m in bed deciding whether to stay local or drive for an hour to get one of my missing alphabet letters 🤔

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2024 11:19

We’re visiting family for the weekend so I had my second outing at York, along with lots of visitors who were there for their letter Y. Fastest parkrun of the year for me and a 2 minute PB on my last visit there.

Very impressed with the double funnel arrangement and how smoothly they processed so many runners.

@CalmConfident what did you do in the end?

Well done on your pacing @miked99

isthismylifenow · 30/03/2024 11:42

I went this morning and met my friend there. She had this look on her face, that wasn't great.

She is having a horrid ibs flare up so didn't know whether to take a chance or not.

We decided that nothing is worth shitting your pants for so we got a coffee instead (she black tea 🤭) and we had a great time watching all the front runners coming in.

First chap came in under 14 mins or some such amazing time,

Being an ibs sufferer myself I totally get it.

Was a great Easter turn out with loads of people all dressed up in their bunny ears and skirts. They laid out Easter painted pebbles along route for the kids to find. Glad we went even though we didn't actually get to take part.

CalmConfident · 30/03/2024 13:05

Hi @OhOneOhTwoOhThree I zoomed down the M1 and went to Jersey Farm to get my J ☺️

Lovely spring morning 🥰

SouthCountryGirl · 30/03/2024 13:37

Fastest time so far this year. Ok it is one of the flattest in the country and last time I didn't have to try and walk through mud whilst trying to stay upright and making sure my shoe didn't fall off...

RunningAndSinging · 30/03/2024 20:33

A sunny Easter themed run for me at my home parkrun.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/04/2024 10:55

Very quiet at mine today, probably a combination of school holidays and the storm coming? The wind was horrible!

Another lady and I managed a sprint race to the finish so hopefully it knocked a couple of seconds off for both of us.

Does anybody else have a Parkrun Puddle? I'm not sure ours will ever dry up! I'm getting a bit fed up of wet feet.

ohpumpkinseeds · 06/04/2024 12:57

I did my first ever Parkrun today! And I had to walk some of it (I can't run 5K yet, I've been doing C25k and I'm up to week 7). It was such a lovely welcoming atmosphere and I'm absolutely buzzing I did it and can't wait to go back next week!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/04/2024 14:11

Hello everyone and welcome to the parkrun family @ohpumpkinseeds! So glad you enjoyed yourself this morning.

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams we have a "water feature" from time to time. I was out running last night and my route included part of a nearby parkrun, which was quite puddle-y (it's beside a river which has been bursting its banks with all the rain).

I volunteered this morning, and then ran some laps after everyone else had gone home.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 06/04/2024 15:09

My local parkrun is routinely flooded as it's next to a river. Second cancellation in a row this week (and it has been cancelled a few times this winter).

I went to a reasonably local parkrun which had a new course and is hilly, so no risk of flooding. Their new course is better than the old one so I will probably be back.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/04/2024 15:29

Love that @ohpumpkinseeds hope it’s the first of many. Run directing today for me. It went to plan and the wind stayed away so all good.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/04/2024 13:34

Well done @ohpumpkinseeds! You're braver than me, I waited until I'd finished C25K to do it, but everybody is so nice I could easily have started going earlier.

miked99 · 13/04/2024 03:05

After a wash out last week, I was raring to go this morning and thanks to school holidays there weren't as many people as usual but a fair few first timers. So I got a higher finishing position than expected but no improvement in my time. Only got Date Bingo

Have a great day everyone running or volunteering

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/04/2024 15:01

Well done @miked99.

I did a bit of local-ish tourism this morning.

AuntieStella · 13/04/2024 15:14

I was at my home parkrun today, with a wholly unexceptional finish time.

It scored a date bingo though

MirandaWest · 13/04/2024 17:01

Went to my nearest (as the crow flies) parkrun this morning and got a new course PB 😊 it was my first parkrun in November 2012 and I got close to that time last month but this time I started steadily and got quicker throughout and now have a new course PB 😊

And my overall PB is only 2 seconds faster so I may well be able to beat that at some point (set that in February).

Also have date bingo 😊

Standingonlego · 14/04/2024 07:41

Tourism with a friend to pick up an O for my alphabet challenge 😊

ohpumpkinseeds · 15/04/2024 18:11

Parkrun was cancelled for us this week, but I was there so I ran the course anyway!!! Ran for most of it, walked for 3 mins so I feel I'm close to being able to run the whole thing soon 🤞
