Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

@parkrunner1977 huge congratulations, that is a major achievement.

I have completed 5 now 😃.

Today was a bit of a struggle. Firstly as it was already 25 degrees before we even started, and ours is on a trail, so not at all all flat. And then an older lady just in front of us fell quite badly, so we stopped to help where we could. She was helped as luckily there was a Marshall nearby.

And I still managed to cut 2 minutes off, so have a new pb which I hadn't been able to beat since the first one.

We were back the usual numbers of around 1200 even though we are in the midst of quite the heatwave.

I was incredibly thankful for my cooling towel.

RunningAndSinging · 17/02/2024 17:03

Congratulations all round for PBs and Milestones 😃

We stayed at our home event today to volunteer as car park marshals and celebrate my 250th run😊

Well done on your 250th, great achievement!

parkrunner1977 · 17/02/2024 23:13

Thanks all 😊 Looking forward to ordering a new t-shirt and vest to wear, hoping I can make them last another 5 years before the next milestone! 😱

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/02/2024 23:11

Well done @parkrunner1977 on your milestone. Fantastic work.

And well done @MirandaWest on a PB. Hurrah!

@isthismylifenow congrats on your PB too especially with a stop to help a fellow park runner and the heat. I hope she is OK.

I was touristing yesterday but only about 45 minutes away from home. I got date and position bingo. As it wasn’t my first time there it didn’t help towards any of the other challenges.

miked99 · 24/02/2024 04:23

Overcast showery morning but my son was a pacer so we had to go. It also meant a smaller number of parkrunners than recent weeks so not so hectic at the start. I ran 1 second slower than on 25th Feb 2023 so I'm nothing if not consistent.
Just got date Bingo,

Good luck everyone running today

Had a good time at Brighouse parkrun - was their last one for up to 2 years so there were a lot of people there. And also a lot of mud. Managed to get a stopwatch bingo number (which made the log jam at the end worth it). And lovely and sunny 😊

RunningAndSinging · 24/02/2024 14:55

Run directing today and loads to think about - lovely weather for it and it went well in the end but I am exhausted now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/02/2024 20:58

A new (to me) parkrun for me today - lots of local cancellations thanks to flooding around here. Really lovely course in the sunshine. Just date bingo today.

miked99 · 02/03/2024 00:47

We were tourists today at Wildflower Parkrun today, the hilliest in NSW with 121m elevation gain on the course. It also joins into a national park so there was a wallaby in the car park which was less alarming than the previous time when my son saw a brown snake on the course.
I'd had to walk a bit of one of the hills before, so I was really happy I managed to keep running all the way round and got a PB
Thanks to some missing tokens somewhere ahead of me I also got a surprise Position Bingo, so great day all round

Hope you all have a great run or volunteer

Hello all - soaking wet puddle jumping today - it rained so much that the path had flooded by the third lap. Chatty jog with a friend I hadn't seen for ages.

MirandaWest · 02/03/2024 21:20

Did York parkrun this morning - was the first parkrun I ever did in November 2012 and I came within 2 seconds of that time, which is my York course record.

Didn't get any achievements today - as I’d run one on this date in 2019 and no position or time bingo today.

SouthCountryGirl · 03/03/2024 08:00

Slowest time of the year so far - no surprise given the mud!

miked99 · 08/03/2024 23:47

A beautiful morning in Sydney and we were back at our home event of Curl Curl.
I did my best time since 2019 so really happy. Just got date Bingo as well

Hope the weather has improved in the UK

That’s great news on your fastest time since 2019 @miked99 , you must be feeling really pleased with yourself.

I just had a v steady run round my home course today. It’s getting a little bit spring like & the crocuses are out which is lovely.

miked99 · 09/03/2024 11:33

Thanks @Yorkshiregold I am really happy even though I finished completely in the middle of the pack
Basically I had an injury back then that meant when I started Parkrun again I was many minutes slower and I've gradually been improving my time ever since, until I'm pretty much back to where I was.
Enjoy all the springtime flowers over the upcoming weeks

Well done @miked99 . A cold morning for timekeeping today at my home parkrun. I haven’t run for a few weeks now with my injury - hoping to get back to it like you have.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/03/2024 23:23

Well done @miked99, and hope you make a good recovery @RunningAndSinging. Thank you for volunteering in the meantime.

Sounds like a nice course @Yorkshiregold.

I visited a new (to me) parkrun on my way to visit my folks and had my fastest run this year despite getting off to a slow start. Really enjoyed the course, two laps of a country park with varying terrain underfoot.

TeresaCrowd · 09/03/2024 23:36

Did my first bit of tourism today as we were away in Scotland. Nice to see somewhere new, and a small field of around 140 vs the 5-600+ we get at my local.

miked99 · 15/03/2024 23:24

A bit cooler in Sydney today, so pleasant conditions for a run.
I was a few seconds slower than last week but a few places higher
Only got Date Bingo, I think every run I manage until Christmas will be a Date Bingo so a bit more incentive as the mornings get darker

Hope everyone has a good run or volunteer

Met up with some friends who were in the area this morning at a different parkrun to usual. Good to have a change and a catch up. Love that parkrun was an opportunity for a get together.

MirandaWest · 16/03/2024 14:24

Had a really good parkrun - went to a nearby one that I don’t do that often and smashed my course PB and got my third fastest ever parkrun time 😃 got a date bingo date and if my legs had been able to go just a bit quicker at the end would have had a position bingo but they were all in by then 😃

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/03/2024 18:57

Well done @MirandaWest on your PBs. You're having a great running week!

How lovely that you were able to meet up with friends at parkrun @RunningAndSinging

Glad that the weather is cooling down a bit @miked99

I went to a new (to me) parkrun on the way to visiting a friend this morning - almost 600 runners, so bigger than I'm used to. Lovely route through a forest and although a bit slower than usual I really enjoyed it. And the bonus was bumping into a former colleague and his wife who are regulars there - he's the last person I'd have ever thought was a park runner!

miked99 · 20/03/2024 10:58

I just found out a guy with a GoPro ran at the very hilly and winding Wildflower Parkrun when I was there two weeks ago and filmed the whole run.
He was a lot faster than me and most other people too, so I can see myself struggling up the hills as he raced down.

It's impressive how steady the camera was and the presentation of the progress map and pace being shown as the run progresses and then he ruined it with a Mario Kart soundtrack

I can't wait for the clocks to change, it was dark when we left home this morning for Parkrun.
There were some seriously fast people there, the top 3 were all under 16 minutes which blows my mind as that's about half my time!

I got pretty much the same time as last week but got Stopwatch and date Bingo

Have a good run or volunteer everyone
