Parkrunners Assemble - reviving the thread that will remind you "do not forget you barcode"

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Well done @Lemonyyy , I love doing a different course for a change and I always end up running a bit faster/harder than on my home course. I had a decent run round my local one, it was very rainy but not windy and not too cold so I can’t complain

miked99 · 10/11/2023 23:03

After a couple of weeks absence was back at Parkrun today. My son wanted to go to Mosman where it's very scenic but has a big hill you run up 3 times, so I struggled around while he breezed past lapping me.
Didn't get anything for the 5K app but it was good to be back running again

Need to get up soon to go and do a new to me parkrun. My reason for this one is that I need to pick something up at IKEA and it’s the nearest one to it 😃

RunningAndSinging · 11/11/2023 13:29

Went to my NENDY today which has been the same place for years but just a bit too far away without a reason to make the journey. Beautiful morning for it, lovely views and a good group of us there. Fab parkrun morning.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/11/2023 17:51

Hello everyone, I woke up super-late this morning but it was such a lovely day that I threw on my running gear and went anyway even though I knew I'd miss the start. It took me half a lap (of 2 and a half) to catch the tail walker. Ended up walking most of the route with a friend, then we did a little run through the finish funnel and I missed that blooming stopwatch bingo by one second - oh well there is always next week.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 11/11/2023 19:23

Volunteering for me today- at Concord arkrun in Sheffield.

Lovely 2 lap course - will definitely go back to run it one Saturday.

Core team are dedicated bunch - most of them volunteer every week!

Yorkshiregold · 12/11/2023 07:37

Another run around my local and finally completed stopwatch bingo! All pure chance, I didn’t game it. It was a lovely day for running too.

miked99 · 12/11/2023 09:27

@Yorkshiregold - congratulations on getting Stopwatch bingo
What are you targeting next?

I was visiting my parents this weekend and there is a new Parkrun near their house so decided to do that before heading over. Oh my it was muddy! The volunteer team were just amazing though! Also got another C for Pirates challenge. Now on 4 Cs and an R! Only 3 Cs to go!

NotFastButFurious · 12/11/2023 14:32

Was that the one in Bury @NatMoz ?

Was that the one in Bury @NatMoz ?

Ha yeah it was!

The volunteers were great though, someone had bulk bought some cowbells, all the volunteers had them🤣.

My husband and 2 year old were with me (great playground)- they were cheering me on as i was crossing the line and DD ran after me so was an unofficial parkrun finisher that day🤣 (i was very slow so no other runners around).

Yorkshiregold · 17/11/2023 22:51

@miked99 That’s a good question! I got my 250 in the summer. Slowly working my way towards my double ton at my home run. Trying to pick up new courses when I can (which is not that often) but I am heading off to do my nendy tomorrow which I am excited about!

RunningAndSinging · 18/11/2023 10:38

Got my volunteer of all trades badge today by doing the course check. Really felt it in my legs for the parkrun but good to get done extra miles in. We are a lapped course so just under 4 k extra.

NatMoz · 18/11/2023 13:05

Was walking to my local parkrun and it got cancelled last minute due to a tree on the path😫. Not enough time to make it to another one😞

LizziesTwin · 18/11/2023 16:08

Cold & rainy but still working my way towards my 100. 5th woman today, some of the youngsters were no shows.

RunningAndSinging · 25/11/2023 11:19

Beautiful morning out in the Forest for my turn to RD. No drastic issues - all good 🙂.

Yorkshiregold · 25/11/2023 13:03

Yay to a no dramatic issues RD role @RunningAndSinging. I did a chilly tail walk with my daughter, the frost made it look beautiful today.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 25/11/2023 13:06

Volunteering for me today... down in London for a "do" last night so we stayed over and as I'm not fit to run I volunteered...

Good job I did - the team were stretched with very few volunteers.

19th volunteering location for me... when I get to 25 v locations I'll think about getting my v26 shirt printed up...

Iamanunsafebuilding · 25/11/2023 17:51

Parkrun 76 for me today, back at my home course. It's 2km from my house to the start so we ran there and back making 9km in total. I'm doing a run every day in November challenge so all miles are good and any route I don't have to think of myself is a bonus!

MirandaWest · 25/11/2023 19:37

Had a good parkrun today - have done a different (and new to me) parkrun every week in November and this week I managed to go sub 30 min for the first time since mid October. Was a surprise when I got to the line and checked my watch!

LizziesTwin · 26/11/2023 06:17

Another runner who had a good run yesterday, sub 25 again, same time as 2 weeks ago but ran all the way this time so I’m seeing it as a better time. Volunteered as well and signed up to volunteer on Xmas day. I’m going to hit 50 volunteers before I get my 100 runs, originally I thought I’d try and do them both on the same day but I think my helping is more useful.

IVFlife · 01/12/2023 23:23

Lots of cancellations tomo I bet.

I'm still recovering from a chest infection so the cold too much for even standing still volunteering. So bed for me tomorrow morning

I'm planning on volunteering on Sun at juniors but that's a shorter time outside.

miked99 · 09/12/2023 06:54

I was at Parkrun for the first time in a few weeks today - hot and humid at 7am in Sydney which I understand is the complete opposite of the UK.
Another nearby Parkrun that borders a National Park was cancelled due to high fire danger, so we had even more people at Curl Curl than normal.
Despite or maybe due to not running for a while I ran my best time in over 6 months and got a Position Bingo

Hope everyone has a good run or volunteer today

AuntieStella · 09/12/2023 07:01

I'm off volunteering soon

I've just looked at the cancellations page and it's not bad (seen worse)

Lots of waterlogged/unsafe, plus "mud bath again" "sea on the course" "flooded and slippery - ducks have taken over" and "sheet ice - OK for penguins"

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/12/2023 13:15

Hope your volunteering went well @AuntieStella. I was wobbling about going this morning, but decided that if the volunteers were going to be out there I should be too. We had a good turn out, probably because one of our neighbouring events was cancelled due to flooding, although nothing near our usual numbers.
