Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Had a brilliant run - have been doing a bit of work to improve my 5k time and today was running at my home course which is a flat and fast one. Managed to beat my overall parkrun PB by 16 seconds and as that was set in November 2012 in my very first parkrun I feel pretty impressed at what I've managed to achieve! It's a 5 lap course and after going well for the first 4 laps I got a bit panicky at the start of the 5th lap and walked for a bit twice but still did it!

Iamanunsafebuilding · 07/10/2023 16:36

Well done @MirandaWest! I was back at my home parkrun this morning, did a sandwich run as I wanted to get some miles in my legs before a HM next Sunday. After Florida it was so nice to be out running in sensible temperatures 😂

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/10/2023 17:24

I volunteered today as token-hander-outer. I got date bingo, I didn't realise that volunteering counted towards it.

Bushy sounds fun, I must get round to going at some point.

Ooops missed a couple posts - well done @MirandaWest and @Iamanunsafebuilding (come and join us on the HM thread!)

I think you can set it so it either does or doesn't (I'm a great help there).

Am doing a 10 mile race next Sunday - I won't be doing a fast parkrun next Saturday - think it will be time to go touring so I have no expectations of how long it "ought" to take me!

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree thanks for the signpost, I've posted on the HM thread which looks nice and supportive 😊

I’m still walking pace only due to injury but being super consistent and getting my Sat 5k ☺️ My last stopwatch bingo continues to elude me though !!!

I need 06…I have 5x 07 and 10x 05. It’s getting a bit silly now…😂 I never “game” it either it’s genuinely random

@beguilingeyes - it was announced at my local parkrun yesterday , that this week was the 18th anniversary of the first run at Bushy Park, was there anything to commemorate is ? or with 1500 people at the start could you not hear the run director anyway. I'm amazed someone at the front doesn't trip and bring everyone else down like a pack of dominoes

@QueSyrahSyrah it's strange about the blocks of positions isn't it , my times and finishing positions vary a lot of every week and most of the events I go to have hundreds of runners so a 100/200/300 finish should be perfectly possible # but I just can't seem to get those missing ones - like @Standingonlego I've got multiples of the ones around it but I'm not that desperate that I'm going to gamify it ...... yet

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree I had no idea about the setting to include volunteering for your achievements either - every day is a school day

Congratulations on the PB @MirandaWest especially after such a long time, and good luck next week with the half marathon @Iamanunsafebuilding

Hey. Did anyone manage a parkrun today? I know lots were cancelled. I had a steady run on my home course and got date bingo.

miked99 · 21/10/2023 14:12

The weather is a bit better in Oz than Uk at the moment, so I was at the 10th anniversary event at Mosman, one of my local parkruns. There were 3 people there who had run in the first event, so that's pretty good going and one of the original run directors who moved away years ago came to be photographer.
I was pretty slow and only managed Date Bingo but there was cake at the end so that was a bonus. Hope its improved forecast for next weekend to everyone in the UK

Hi all, we were on today. I wasn't feeling at my brightest or best, so I had a slow jog around. It was a bit drizzly, but not too bad (though we are not in the storm zone).

SouthCountryGirl · 21/10/2023 15:17

We ended up with plan z I think! Several as backups were cancelled

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/10/2023 16:21

I got a stopwatch bingo and best ever age grade at my local - just had a birthday so not fastest this year. The weather was ok round here. Met up with some old friends who we haven’t seen for years. Love how parkrun can do that.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/10/2023 10:40

Glorious day for walking around junior parkrun. Our 5k was flooded off yesterday (as were all within 40 minutes) but we're not on the worst affected section of their course. It wasn't as boggy as I thought, and while lighter on numbers than usual, it was a healthy turnout. It was a curcuitous route to get there though past the logistics of flood gates, road closures and incompatible one-way systems.

LizziesTwin · 24/10/2023 08:33

Late to this but I was at Fulham Palace which was also celebrating its 10th birthday. It was incredibly wet.

NatMoz · 25/10/2023 20:04

Loads were cancelled near me as they are all along rivers which were high/flooding. Went to my local one half a mile away for ease.

Not at Parkrun this Saturday as I'm off on a spa weekend instead!

beguilingeyes · 26/10/2023 06:47

I'm in Worcester tomorrow night for a concert so I'm going to do theirs this week. I expect it to be soggy. Possibly Leeds next week.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/10/2023 17:41

Hi everyone, we did a run/swim double at Milton Country Park (formerly known as Cambridge) parkrun this morning. Lovely trail through trees and a nice dip in the lake afterwards. I slowed down at the end to let a little girl sprint past me at the finish - so missed my elusive stopwatch bingo by 2 seconds. So near and yet so far!

beguilingeyes · 28/10/2023 20:48

Worcester was unpleasant. Trails and sodden fields. Concentrated on staying upright. Possibly in Leeds next week.

BogRollBOGOF · 28/10/2023 21:23

Most of our locals were back to normal this week. One still flooded off; they had a rough winter in 19/20 too. That park doesn't like drying out.

Business as usual for me. A solo steady run at my roll out of bed run.

MirandaWest · 28/10/2023 22:47

Took DH along with me today - he used to run and has been getting back into it recently. I quite enjoyed going at his pace - was a nice easy one for me 😊

AuntieStella · 29/10/2023 08:01

I was a tourist this week - very friendly event it was too. They were short of barcode scanners, so (injured) DH did a bit of on the spot voluntourism too

RunningAndSinging · 29/10/2023 08:16

A fantastic holiday tourist parkrun yesterday with lots of other chatty tourists, sunshine and views.

Lemonyyy · 04/11/2023 20:31

Did a new parkrun in my city today, had fallen into the trap of always doing my nearest but am doing a 10k at the park of this further one next week so thought I’d get the lay of the land. It was an out and back, straight uphill then straight down and I found it super hard up but was my second best time for a parkrun ever so feeling pleased! Very wet feet though!
